Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” (via Columbia) is digging in for a third consecutive week at No. 1 in the U.K.
The U.S. pop star’s latest hit powers to the lead on the midweek chart, and is currently outselling its nearest rival, Raye’s “Escapism” (Human Re Sources) featuring 070 Shake, by more than two-to-one, the Official Charts Company reports.

“Flowers” is already Miley’s longest-reigning No. 1 in the U.K., beating the single-week runs for her previous leaders “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball,” both from 2013.

Based on midweek data captured by the OCC, the highest new entry on the chart proper could belong to KSI and Oliver Tree with “Voices” (Atlantic). It’s on track for a No. 11 debut, for what would be KSI’s 18th and Tree’s third top 40 appearance.

Sydney-raised, Los Angeles-based singer and rapper The Kid LAROI is also targeting a top tier debut with his new track, “Love Again” (Columbia). It’s new at No. 22 on the Official Chart Update, for what should be the artist’s fifth top 40 appearance. “Love Again” is the second cut from the Kid’s forthcoming debut album, The First Time, which is set for release later this year.

Meanwhile, Miguel’s 2010 single “Sure Thing” (Jive) continues to enjoy a renaissance after going viral on TikTok. It’s up 13-7 on the Chart Update. The track entered the top 10 for the very first time last week, nearly 13 years after it originally dropped.

Further down the chart blast, singles by Tiësto and Tate McRae (“10:35” up 14-13 via Atlantic/Ministry of Sound), Cian Ducrot (“I’ll Be Waiting” up 19-18 via Polydor), Mimi Webb (“Red Flags” up 22-19 via Epic) and Coi Leray (“Players” up 37-20 via Uptown/Republic Records) are on the climb.

All will be revealed when the Official Charts are published late Friday.

The Reytons finally rock on to No. 1 in the U.K. with What’s Rock And Roll? (via The Reytons), their third LP.
The South Yorkshire-formed indie group, comprising Jonny Yerrell, Lee Holland, Joe O’Brien and Jamie Todd, blast to the summit of the Official U.K. Albums Chart with What’s Rock And Roll?, the market’s best-seller on wax.

It’s a career high for the band, whose previous albums both cracked the top 40 — 2021’s May Seriously Harm You And Others Around (No. 27) and Kids Off The Estate (No. 11).

“This is everything,” says frontman Jonny Yerrell in a victory post. “The door’s wide open. We’re about to change everything. No label, no backing, all Reytons.”

Further down the list, 2021 Eurovision winners Måneskin snag their first top 5 appearance with Rush! (Columbia). It’s new at No. 5.

The rockers — Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Ethan Torchio and Thomas Raggi — made history when, in June 2021, they landed two singles in the U.K. top 10 (“I Wanna Be Your Slave” and the cover “Beggin’”), becoming the first Italian act to do so. Måneskin previously impacted the Official U.K. Albums Chart with Teatro d’ira – Vol. I (No. 49), also from 2021.

Meanwhile, Black Star Riders bag a second top 10 with their fifth set Wrong Side Of Paradise (Earache). It’s new at No. 6 on the latest chart, published Jan. 27.

Featuring several members of Thin Lizzy, Black Star Riders bagged top 40 appearances with each of their previous four LPs: 2013’s All Hell Breaks Loose (No. 25), 2015’s The Killer Instinct (No. 13), 2017’s Heavy Fire (No. 6) and 2019’s Another State Of Grace (No. 14).

Dublin outfit The Murder Capital miss out on the top 10, but still score a career-best with Gigi’s Recovery (Human Season), new at No. 16.

Finally, electronic-leaning veterans Ladytron make a long-overdue appearance on the chart with Time’s Arrow (Cooking Vinyl). It’s new at No. 67, a new career high. Time’s Arrow is the group’s fourth appearance on the survey, and first in almost twelve years.

Miley Cyrus now has a bunch of U.K. No. 1s with “Flowers”.
The post-disco hit blooms with upwards of 121,000 chart units, the Official Charts Company reports, to lead the national chart for a second week.

That volume outperforms the first week for “Flowers,” and includes over 13 million streams, making it the market leader in that format for the second straight week.

A hit around the world, “Flowers” becomes Cyrus’ longest-running U.K. No. 1 single, besting her previous leaders “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball,” which each logged a single week at the chart summit in 2013.

Further down the list, published Jan. 27, Afrobeats star Rema bags a new chart beat with “Calm Down” (Mavin), up 8-6, while Headie One has the week’s highest new entry on the chart, with “Martin’s Sofa” (Relentless). It’s new at No. 9, for the London rapper and songwriter’s fifth top 10 appearance — and first as a solo artist.

Miguel’s TikTok-powered revival is in full swing, as “Sure Thing” (Jive) lifts into the top 10. It’s up 11-10, for the U.S. artist’s first appearance in the top tier. “Sure Thing” first dropped in 2010, and has grown wings that’s to its viral turn on the short-video platform.

Also on the climb is Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot with “I’ll Be Waiting” (up 22-19 via Polydor), Mimi Webb’s “Red Flags” (up 23-21 via Epic); and Coi Leray “Players up 19” (up 45-26 via Uptown/Republic Recordings), for the rising U.S. artist’s first U.K. top 40 appearance.

Sabrina Carpenter’s viral, love-struck number “Nonsense” (Island) is making its move on the U.K. It’s the week’s biggest gainer, charging 38 places to No. 32, for the U.S. pop singer’s second top 40 (her 2021 release “Skin” reached No. 28).

Finally, Ed Sheeran makes his 68th impression on the U.K. top 75 with “F64” (Atlantic), his tribute to his late friend Jamal Edwards, the founder of SBTV who died in February 2022, at the age of 31. “F64” bows at No. 50 on the national survey.

Moneybagg Yo and GloRilla each secure a third top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart as “On Wat U On” debuts at No. 9 on the list dated Jan. 28. The entrance returns Moneybagg Yo to the top tier for the first time since 2021, while GloRilla nabs a third top 10 with her third chart appearance.

“On Wat U On,” the collaboration between the Memphis rap stars, starts with 9.2 million official U.S. streams logged in the week ending Jan. 19, according to Luminate. The sum prompts the track’s No. 6 opening on the Rap Streaming Songs chart and a No. 17 arrival on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs list. Though streams contribute the heavy majority of “On Wat U On” activity for the first week, the song did sell 1,000 downloads and registered 1.3 million in radio airplay in the same period.

As mentioned, both rappers achieve a third top 10 on Hot Rap Songs thanks to their joint effort. For Moneybagg Yo, “On Wat U On” follows “Say Sum,” which reached No. 7 in November 2020, and “Wockesha,” a No. 5 hit in October 2021. The new hit, however, does mark his first top 10 debut on Hot Rap Songs. His prior best among his 23 charted titles was a No. 12 start for “Shottas (La La)” in May 2021.

GloRilla, meanwhile, lands her third top 10 on Hot Rap Songs with her third chart visit. Her debut, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” with Hitkidd, achieved at No. 9 high in September 2022 and “Tomorrow 2,” with Cardi B, peaked at No. 2 the next month.

Elsewhere, “On Wat U On” is the top debut on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 21 and enters the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 56.

Drake and 21 Savage stunt on the competition on both Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rhythmic Airplay charts, as their single “Rich Flex” ascends to a dual domination on the charts dated Jan. 28. The new coronations extend Drake’s records as the artist with the most No. 1s on both charts, while 21 Savage earns his second champ on the former and fourth leader on the latter.

On R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, “Rich Flex” advances from the runner-up rank to lead the chart in its 11th frame. It tops the list with 19.7 million in audience listenership registered in the week ending Jan. 19, a 7% improvement from the week prior, according to Luminate. With the rise, “Rich Flex” became the most-heard song on U.S. monitored R&B and hip-hop radio stations.

The new champ gives Drake his 29th No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, the most among all artists since the chart began in 1992. 21 Savage, as mentioned, collects his second champ and returns to the summit after a break of just over five years, since his featured turn on Post Malone’s “Rockstar,” a two-week champ in December 2017.

As Drake tacks another title to his record tally, here’s a look at the acts with the most No. 1s on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay:

29, Drake15, Usher12, Lil Wayne10, Beyoncé9, Chris Brown

On Rhythmic Airplay, “Rich Flex” jumps from No. 3. It enters the top slot after a 26% surge in weekly plays that made it the most-played song on U.S. monitored rhythmic radio stations in the week ending Jan. 19. Here, Drake picks up a record-extending 37th chart-topper. 21 Savage banks a fourth champ, as “Rich Flex” joins the aforementioned “Rockstar” (six weeks in 2017-18), “A Lot” (two weeks, 2019) and “Jimmy Cooks,” another collaboration with Drake (one week, 2022).

Elsewhere, on Rap Airplay, “Rich Flex” repeats at the No. 1 spot to secure a second week in charge. There, it increases its grip on the rank with an 11% gain in weekly audience. The single looks to next capture the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list, which ranks the most-played tracks on U.S. monitored R&B and hip-hop stations. On that chart, “Rich Flex” ranks at No. 2 for a second straight week and finishes second in a tight race with the current champ, GloRilla and Cardi B’s “Tomorrow 2” collaboration. A repeat showdown, however, would likely favor “Flex” thanks to its positive momentum: It logged a 12% bump in plays in the latest tracking week, while “Tomorrow 2” declined 5%.

Alicia Keys extends her record for the most No. 1s on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart as “Trillions,” featuring Brent Faiyaz, crowns the chart dated Jan. 28. The single advances from No. 2, and, despite its 1% decrease in weekly plays, it became the most-played song on U.S. monitored adult R&B radio stations in the week ending Jan. 19, according to Luminate.

With her new champ, Alicia Keys improves her career total of Adult R&B Airplay No. 1s to 13. She remains atop the leaderboard for the most No. 1s among all acts since the chart began in 1993. Now, she moves two ahead of her nearest competitor, Toni Braxton, and her 11 leaders. Here’s a look at the artists with the most chart-toppers in Adult R&B Airplay history:

13, Alicia Keys11, Toni Braxton9, Charlie Wilson8, Bruno Mars8, Kem8, Maxwell7, H.E.R.7, Mary J. Blige7, R. Kelly7, Tank

“Big love to my AK fam,” Keys said in an Instagram post celebrating the accomplishment. “Big love to Brent Faiyaz – I told you we were going to get that No. 1!,” the singer-songwriter said.” The R&B legend also noted the feat occurred during her birthday week, as she turned 42 on Jan. 25.

At 22 weeks, “Trillions” ties for Keys’ second-longest trek to the summit among her 13 champs. “Fire We Make,” her duet with Maxwell, also required 22 weeks on its way to a seven-week reign in 2013; they both rank behind “So Done,” featuring Khalid, which reached No. 1 in its 28th week on the chart.

For Brent Faiyaz, his featured turn on “Trillions” yields his first Adult R&B Airplay No. 1 with his debut appearance on the chart.

“Trillions” also marks Keys and Faiyaz’s second charted collaboration; their prior release, “Ghetto Gatsby,” from Faiyaz’s Wasteland album, reached No. 8 on the Hot R&B Songs chart in July 2022. “Trillions” appears on the deluxe edition of Keys’ 2021 album Keys, dubbed Keys II, that dropped in August 2022. (All versions of the Keys album are combined for tracking and charting purposes.)

Elsewhere, “Trillions” climbs to a new peak of No. 17 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, which ranks songs by combined audience listenership from adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop stations. There, the song climbs again, despite, a 5% drop to 6.7 million in audience.

Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” (via Columbia) is sowing the seeds for a second week atop the U.K. chart.
Based on midweek sales and streaming data captured by the Official Charts Company, “Flowers” is “storming” ahead of its rivals.

If it holds its ground, “Flowers” would become the U.S. pop star’s longest-reigning U.K. No. 1, and her only single to spend multiple weeks at the summit. Her previous leaders “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball” both logged single stints at No. 1 back in 2013.

“Flowers” got away to a fast start around the globe, smashing Spotify’s one-week streaming record, and bowing at No. 1 in Australia.

In the U.K., “Flowers” leads an unchanged top 5 on the midweek chart, which is completed by singles from Raye, SZA, Taylor Swift, and Venbee & Goddard, respectively.

Meanwhile, hot Afrobeats artist Rema is eying a new peak position with “Calm Down” (Mavin), up 9-6 on the Official Chart Update, while Tiësto and Tate McRae’s “10:35” (up 17-14 via Atlantic/Ministry of Sound) and Cian Ducrot’s “I Will Be Waiting” (up 23-19) are on the climb.

The highest new entry on the forthcoming Official U.K. Singles Chart could belong to Headie One, with “Martin’s Sofa” (Relentless) on track for a No. 9 debut. If it stays put, “Martin’s Sofa” would give the London rapper and songwriter a fifth U.K. top 10 and 13th top 40 appearance.

The only other new arrival in the midweek top 40 belongs to Ed Sheeran, with “F64” (Atlantic), the Brit’s tribute to his friend Jamal Edwards, the late founder of SBTV, who died in Feb. 2022 from cardiac arrhythmia after taking recreational drugs, aged 31.

“F64” is on target for a No. 33 start, which would give Sheeran his 58th top 40 hit.

All will be revealed when the national weekly chart is published this Friday (Jan. 27).

The Reytons could ride all the way to No. 1 in the U.K. with What’s Rock And Roll? (via The Reytons), the British indie band’s third LP.
Formed in South Yorkshire, the Reytons take pole position on the midweek survey and, assuming the album continues to reach fans in the second half of the chart week, should set a new career-best performance.

The group previously cracked the top 40 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart with May Seriously Harm You And Others Around (No. 27) and Kids Off The Estate (No. 11), both from 2021.

It’s not the only rock album rolling to a top 5 berth. Black Star Riders are racing to No. 2 with Wrong Side Of Paradise (Earache), the band’s fifth studio album. 14).

Meanwhile, 2021 Eurovision winners Måneskin are tracking for a first-ever U.K. top 10 album with Rush (Columbia). It’s new at No. 3 on the Official Chart Update.

Also eyeing a top 10 debut is Dublin outfit The Murder Capital, with Gigi’s Recovery (Human Season). It’s new at No. 7 on the chart blast. Meanwhile, recordings from electronic-leaning outfit Ladytron (Time’s Arrow at No. 17 via Cooking Vinyl), metal act Riverside (ID.Entity at No. 22 via Inside Out), Welsh artist and Velvet Underground founding member John Cale (Mercy at No. 37 via Double Six), and NYC rock band We Are Scientists (Lobes at No. 38 via 100 Percent Records) are set to make a splash.

All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published Friday (Jan. 27).

Almost 15 years after its release, Courteeners’ debut St. Jude (via Polydor/UMR) hits No. 1 on the U.K. album chart — setting a new mark in the process.

St. Jude becomes the album with the longest span between release and charting at No. 1 in U.K. chart history, the Official Charts Company reports, doing so in 14 years, 9 months and 14 days after its initial release.

It’s the first leader for the Manchester trio, and it sees them join the rarest of company. Liam Fray, Michael Campbell and Daniel “Conan” Moores are, collectively, only the third act to chart at No. 1 with a reissued album. The others? The Rolling Stones (Goats Head Soup, Exile On Main St.) and the Beatles (Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band).

St. Jude previously peaked at No. 4 back in 2008, and carries three U.K. top 40 singles: “Not Nineteen Forever,” “No You Didn’t, No You Don’t” and “What Took You So Long?”

Physical sales (97%) fueled its big week, as St. Jude tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.

Meanwhile, London rapper Clavish bows at No. 4 with his 28-track mixtape Rap Game Awful (via Polydor), while former Supergrass guitarist Gaz Coombes scores his first solo top 10 with Turn The Car Around (Hot Fruit), his fourth effort. Turn The Car Around parks at No. 6.

Liverpool indie rocker outfit Circa Waves score a fifth top 40 with Never Going Under (Lower Third). The followup to 2020’s Sad Happy (No. 4 peak), Never Going Under bobs up at No. 15.

Finally, Garthamlock, Scotland singer Joesef earns a top 20 on debut with his first album, Permanent Damage (Bold Cut). It’s new at No. 18.

Miley Cyrus stands tall on the U.K. singles chart as “Flowers” (via Columbia) arrives at No. 1, for her third leader.
“Flowers” blooms with imposing numbers. During its first chart cycle, “Flowers” racks up 92,000 chart units, including total streams of nearly 10 million. That’s Cyrus’ biggest-ever opening week for streams, the Official Charts Company reports, and the market’s biggest debut week since Harry Styles’ “As It Was” blasted to the summit in May 2022.

Lifted from Cyrus’ forthcoming eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation, “Flowers” got away to a hot start everywhere. The single opened at No. 1 on Australia’s chart, and it smashed Spotify’s global one-week streaming mark. The track will make its official mark on the Billboard Hot 100 when the latest charts are unveiled Monday (Jan. 23), though Billboard readers already voted it as their favorite new release last week.

Previously, Cyrus lead the Official U.K. Singles Chart with “We Can’t Stop” (from 2013) and “Wrecking Ball” (2013), the latter earning her a chart double as its parent Bangerz simultaneously led the national albums survey.

Positions 2-6 are unchanged on the current survey, while St. Louis-raised Metro Boomin bags a career-best with “Creepin’” (Republic Records), featuring the Weeknd and 21 Savage. It’s up 11-7 for Metro Boomin’s first-ever U.K. top 10 single.

Further down the list, British singer and songwriter Mimi Webb lands her sixth top 40 with “Red Flags” (Epic). It’s the second-highest new entry this week at No. 23.

Also new to the chart, published Jan. 20, is Fredo’s “Flow” (PG Records), new at No. 30. It’s the London rapper’s 17th top 40 appearance.

Finally, Shakira scores her first U.K. top 40 appearance in almost a decade with “Bizarrap – BZRP Music Sessions #53” (via Dale Play), the break-up song cut Argentine DJ and YouTuber Bizarrap. It’s new at No. 31, Shakira’s 13th top 40 hit — and first for the Colombian star since 2014’s “Empire” (No. 25 peak).
