LL COOL J is a first-ballot Hip-Hop Hall of Famer and his career is far from over with the impending release of The FORCE album in September of this year. In a recent interview, the GOAT himself reacted to Hip-Hop Wired‘s Rap Battles That Shifted Hip-Hop Culture cover story and also revealed his favorite battles of all time.

LL COOL J, 54, sat down with the Hip-Hop Wired team and gave his thoughts on our recent cover story detailing the historic beefs and back-and-forths that have transformed the very landscape of the culture. The Queens native, clearly a historian of Hip-Hop and four decades in, shared his reaction to the Rap Battles That Shifted Hip-Hop Culture featuring cover art by the legendary André LeRoy “A.L. Dre” Davis while adding his thoughts on Hip-Hop’s greatest battles.

“I think that they’re all different,” LL began. “Battles pre-Internet and post-Internet, the world is gonna know more about them. I enjoyed the Nas and Jay [JAY-Z] battle on one level, but obviously, you didn’t have so much of that social media amplification.”
Continuing his observation, LL added, “The one thing I would say about the Kendrick [Lamar] and Drake battle was that it got the benefit of all of social media. It was layered beyond the music in the music in a different. Similar way to 50 [Cent] and Ja [Rule] except there is a little more social media [now] than even as it was back then.”
LL was then asked about his favorite battles of all time. Naturally, the battle-tested LL COOL J named himself and all the battles that he emerged victorious in. Can’t argue with that.
Check out the exclusive Hip-Hop Wired and LL COOL J clip below. LL’s The FORCE album drops on September 6, 2024.

Loaded Lux, one of the top names in the sport Battle Rap, was reported to be dead by a YouTube streamer but it appears that wasn’t the case. It has been confirmed that Loaded Lux is very much alive, however, it’s been said that one of his family members was shot and killed recently.
By way of the Sub 0 BLACK URBAN NEWS YouTube channel, the host Sub 0 shared a Washington, D.C. outlet’s story of a shooting over the weekend that left two men dead. In his reporting, Sub 0 said that Lux was one of the victims of the deadly shooting.
As news began to spread online, colleagues and others close to Lux shot down the rumors and stated that one of his family members was killed on Sunday (March 17). It isn’t known if the victim in that shooting was indeed Lux’s relative.
On Tuesday (March 19), Lux’s name began trending with many of the replies shooting down Sub 0’s report and saying that this was a clout-chasing moment for the streamer. Further, outlets like Gully TV, who spoke with Un Kasa, uncovered that Sub 0’s report was false. Some online are also blasting Gully TV for using “R.I.P. Loaded Lux” in the thumbnail for their report.

Remy Ma has some explaining to do. She was spotted at the Eagles game with Eazy The Block Captain and the internets think they are an item.

HipHopDX is reporting that the two Rap talents were seen attending the recent Philadelphia Eagles football game on Sunday, November 5 during their victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Fans in attendance spotted the two rappers together at Lincoln Financial Field Stadium looking like they were on a date. The man who filmed the two incorrectly identified the battle rapper as her husband Papoose but the internet quickly made correction.

Rumors about the two first started circulating around back in June when it was reported her husband knocked out Eazy at a Chrome 23 battle rap event titled “#TheGrudgeCard. Remy Ma quickly denounced the rumors on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I’d like to apologize to everyone that was disappointed tonight because we couldn’t get 3 full rounds from all the opponents… I tried…and can y’all pleasee STOP with the Eazy & Pap LIES,” she tweeted. “There’s NO place like Chrome! Right back at it; see y’all in August #Chrome23.”

Fast forward to September, Eazy had a battle with Geechi Gotti and addressed the rumors in one of his rounds while Remy stood a couple of feet away. “If you heard a ni*** did something to me over a female. And he ain’t dead, it’s prolly cause I still got the female” Eazy rapped. Additionally, Eazy and Remy Ma were also spotted grabbing some seafood at Red Lobster that same month. While Remy Ma and Papoose have yet to address the speculation neither have posted about each other on their respective social media accounts since earlier this year.

The two wed in 2015.

Eazy The Block Captain is still swarmed with heavy allegations that he is dating Remy Ma, the wife of veteran rapper Papoose and the founder of the Chrome rap battle league. While Eazy The Block Captain has yet to address the allegations, a posted then deleted message is adding fuel to the embers of discussion, while Remy Ma and Papoose have yet to speak to rumors.
It appears that a publicist for Eazy The Block Captain has been working for her client to get his story told. Nicole Sabrina, who posts on Instagram as @nikkithecoach_ shared a lengthy statement regarding the Philadelphia battle rapper below.

9/22/23, I issued a statement to some media outlets advising that @eazyblockcapt1 would be making a statement today and that the exclusive story is available. This was done without Eazy’s consent. I understand that this is a serious error, and I take full responsibility for my actions.
My words and intent are now being twisted at the sacrifice of a client and I cannot have that. Eazy and I have worked together for a few years, and while it has been some time since our last project, I took it upon myself to begin discovery on potential business opportunities from a PR stand point.
Let me be clear, no amount of money was requested for an interview with Eazy. I made it clear that he would be dropping a statement on his own platforms first and that I have received offers for an exclusive interview after the release of that statement. Eazy did not and does not want to profit from an interview, he only wanted to release a statement telling his side of the story. I love our media and blog partners, and understand they have a duty to report the latest information on trending topics, but any blog outlet reporting anything different is not the whole truth.

Via his Instagram, eagle-eyed X (formerly known as Twitter) users caught wind of an Instagram story Eazy The Block Captain posted over the weekend and later deleted.
“If it’s not me, nobody speaks on my behalf. There’s a lot of rumors out there that I will address very soon,” Eazy wrote last Friday (September 22), which is the same day his publicist posted her statement.
