What’s going on? Billboard Music Awards, it’s Morgan Wallen here. I just wanted to say thank you guys for everyone who’s supported me along my journey, as always, most importantly, thank you to my fans. You guys have just given me so much freedom to make music that I want to make, whether it’s a song that sounds similar to something I put out in the past, or whether it’s something that’s completely different, you guys have always just at least given it a chance, and that’s all I can ask for. I really just want to say thank you guys for being that way with my music. I hope I can come back next year and accept some more, but for now, I really appreciate it. God bless.

Teddy Swims Says ‘Thank You for Letting a Fat Kid From Conyers Win’ While Accepting Dual BBMAs

Teddy Swims took home two new pieces of hardware at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards presented by Marriott Bonvoy, winning Top Hot 100 Song and Top Radio Song for “Lose Control” — which he also performed — at the ceremony on Thursday (Dec. 12).

Standing on the performance stage with his band, surrounded by a group of passionate fans, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter accepted both prizes at the same time. “Two is absolutely bonkers, man. I’m so grateful,” Swims began, holding one BBMA in each hand. “Thank you for changing my life, everyone who’s listening. Thank you for letting me do the best job in the world with the best team in the world.”

“I love you, mama,” added the Georgia native. “Thank you for letting a fat kid from Conyers win.”

“Lose Control” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March, seven months after the track first debuted on the chart. Swims has since lodged three more entries on the chart: “The Door,” “Bad Dreams” and “Dirty” with Jessie Murph.

Swims also performed his slinking ballad on the BBMAs stage, letting his signature rasp shine through on the belted chorus and, at one point, ceding the spotlight to his guitarist for a soulful solo. “I lose control/ When you’re not next to me/ I’m falling apart right in front of you, can’t you see?” sang the musician, dressed in a leather biker jacket and silver chain, sunglasses hanging off his forehead. Earlier during the BBMAs, Swims sang an emotive live version of “Bad Dreams.”

The star is a finalist for a total of eight awards at this year’s BBMAs. In addition to Top Hot 100 Song and Top Radio Song, Swims is also up for Top New Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Streaming Song, Top Selling Song and more.

Hosted by Michelle Buteau, the 2024 BBMAs is airing on FOX and Fire TV Channels and on-demand on Paramount+. Performances are available to watch back as they’re uploaded on Billboard.com and via @BBMAs and @Billboard social channels.

Morgan Wallen Thanks His Fans After Four Wins at 2024 BBMAs

Morgan Wallen was a big winner at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, picking up four trophies, winning in the categories of Top Male Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist and Top Collaboration (for his Post Malone collaboration “I Had Some Help”).

Wallen accepted the honors and thanked fans in his acceptance speech. Holding a BBMA trophy, he said, “What’s goin’ on, Billboard Music Awards. Morgan Wallen here, I just wanted to say thank you guys, for everyone who’s supported me along my journey. As always, and most importantly, thank you to my fans. You guys have just given me so much freedom to make music that I want to make, whether it’s a song that sounds similar to something I’ve put out in the past, or whether it’s something that’s completely different. You guys have always just at least given me the chance, and that’s all I can ask for. I really just want to say thank you guys for being that way with my music.”

Wallen added, “I hope I can come back next year and accept some more, but for now, I really appreciate it. God bless.”

Wallen won the most BBMAs in 2023, picking up 11 wins. This year, he earned 15 finalist entries in 13 categories, including five for his Post Malone collaboration “I Had Some Help.”

“I Had Some Help” spent six weeks atop the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 this year, while Wallen’s “Love Somebody” also topped the same chart.

In addition to adding to his collection of chart-topping songs this year, Wallen also wrapped his One Night at a Time World tour, an 87-concert trek which played an array of venues including 51 stadiums, as Wallen performed for over three million fans in 10 countries and three continents.

Coldplay Jokingly Call Themselves the ‘Handsomest Old Man Band in the World’ After Winning Top Rock Touring Artist at 2024 BBMAs

Coldplay took the stage at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on Thursday night (Dec. 12) to perform their Moon Music hit “All My Love,” right after notching their 11th BBMA win.

“Thank you so much Billboard for giving us this award, handsomest old man band in the world,” frontman Chris Martin joked as the group accepted the Top Rock Touring Artist award, which they also won in 2023. “We’re so grateful to you all, we hope you’re having a great time and we send love to you from Australia of Earth.”

After winning the award, the band performed “All My Love” on-location during their Music of the Spheres World Tour. “You got all my love/ Whether it rains or pours, I’m all yours,” Martin sings in the sweet chorus. Since the tour kicked off in March 2022, it earned more than $1 billion in concert grosses, making it the highest grossing and bestselling rock tour in Boxscore history.

“All My Love,” featured on Coldplay’s 10th studio album, Moon Music, peaked at No. 26 on both Billboard’s Adult Pop Airplay and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs charts.

In addition to winning Top Rock Touring Artist, Coldplay is also a finalist for Top Duo/Group at this year’s BBMAs.

Stray Kids Bring Wild, Futuristic Visuals to 2024 BBMAs With ‘Chk Chk Boom’ & ‘JJAM’ Performance

Stray Kids have had a big 2024. Not only did ATE become their fifth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in August, but they earned their highest entry on the Billboard Hot 100 that month, too, with single “Chk Chk Boom” shooting to No. 49. At the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, the K-pop boy group are finalists for four BBMAs (Top Duo/Group, Top Global K-pop Artist and Top K-pop Album for ROCK-STAR as well as ATE). During the 2024 BBMAs broadcast, Stray Kids took to not just one stage but two stages to perform.

First off, the eight-member group performed the aforementioned Hot 100 hit. Wearing shiny, chic leather outfits covered in chains and studs (shades of Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814), Stray Kids strutted and danced around a futuristic stage that alternately flashed neon red and a cool blue. Befitting “Chk Chk Boom” and its lyrics (“Just pull out my trigger,” “Pop, pop, pop, take a shot”), Stray Kids sang and danced in a percussive, commanding manner.

At the end of the first song, a small red glob rained down from above. Paint? Blood? Or perhaps… jam? The camera pulled out to reveal a second stage, where (thanks to cinemagic) Stray Kids were decked out in casual, fashionable wear and ready to perform their song “JJAM,” also from ATE. With pink and green ooze around them and lasers aplenty, Stray Kids sang in Korean and English, declaring, “We know we’ll never lose, get trophies now.”

Oh, thank you. Likewise, you look beautiful.

I mean, we could switch outfits tonight, and still, we could do that. We can, we can. We don’t have a lot of time. I have so many questions. What inspires you? Do you hear music like in the middle of the night, are you writing down notes everywhere at your apartment? Do you hear something from a long time ago and get inspired? Like, how do you do what you do?

Zedd 

I get a lot of inspiration from feelings and feelings that music creates. So not like “I’m sad, so I’m gonna sit down and write a song,” but I like to make music, and then whatever feeling I get, I just chase whatever I want to feel. So I just usually improvise on a piano, just mindlessly. And when I play something that makes me feel something, I kind of rewind, yeah? And I look like, what did I just play? And I turn that into songs.

Dua Lipa Thanks Fans for ‘Dancing With Me’ While Accepting Top Dance/Electronic Song at 2024 BBMAs

Dua Lipa caught a Billboard Music Award before it went “Houdini.”

During Thursday night’s telecast of the annual show, Lipa took home the Top Dance/Electronic Song trophy for her work on “Houdini,” which spent 17 weeks atop the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.

Accepting her award via video, the “Training Season” singer offered a message of support to her dedicated followers for their continued support. “This is so cool, thank you so much. Thank you for all the love and the support and for dancing with me to ‘Houdini.’ It means the world to me,” she said in the clip. “I’m so sorry I can’t be there with you guys tonight. I am currently on tour in Asia doing the Radical Optimism tour, but I’ll be in a city close to you very soon, so come down, let’s carry on dancing.”

Lipa’s win came out of some fierce competition in the category, where the singer squared off against fellow finalists Ariana Grande (“Yes, And?”), Kenya Grace (“Strangers”), Marshmello & Kane Brown’ (“Miles on It) and even herself (for her other Radical Optimism single, “Illusion.”) Along with Top Dance/Electronic Song, Lipa was also a finalist in the Top Dance/Electronic Artist category, alongside stars like Charli XCX, Beyoncé, Calvin Harris and the Chainsmokers.

Zach Bryan led the finalists at the 2024 BBMAs with a whopping 21 entries across 18 different categories. He’s followed by Taylor Swift who earned 17 total entries in 16 categories at the annual show, potentially adding to her record as the most awarded woman in the history of the BBMAs.

From the W Hollywood hotel, the 29-year-old made his own stage to perform his J-Kwon-sampling anthem on Thursday night (Dec. 12). “Billboard Music Awards, let me tell you about my story,” he said kicking off his performance.

Rocking a dove-white suit with sparkling brown cowboy fringe, Shaboozey made his way down the white staircase to the elegant ballroom where he was greeted by a group of energetic fans cheering him on.

A three-piece band and team of dancers joined the show while Shaboozey showed off his vocal range to make the award show performance stand out compared to the standard “A Bar Song” CDQ version heard on streaming services.

For the finale, the Virginia-bred singer fittingly took his talents to the ballroom bar and the fans got in on the action while swinging black and white napkins in the air before last call. Boozey took a bow as the applause rained on him.

Shaboozey has proven to be one of music’s biggest breakout stars in 2024. He’s a first-time finalist in the Top New Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Streaming Song, Top Selling Song and Top Country Song categories.

“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has enjoyed 19 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and needs just one more week at the summit to stand alone as the longest-running No. 1 Hot 100 hit ever.
