Meanwhile, Colombian singer Feid won songwriter/artist of the year for the second consecutive year, while the hit “QLONA” by Karol G and Peso Pluma was named Latin song of the year.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) celebrated El Premio ASCAP 2025, its top ASCAP Latin songwriters awards for the most performed Latin music songs of the past year.

Xavi, known for his signature romantic tumbados and his unparalleled voice, has captivated a new generation of listeners with hits like “La Diabla” and “La Víctima.” The former topped Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart for 14 weeks, while the latter reached No. 2. By the end of 2024, the Mexican-American singer-songwriter also became the first solo artist to hit No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart with his first four songs in a single year, when “Flores” climbed from No. 3 to lead the ranking dated December 21.
Feid, whose Billboard Hot 100 hits include “Perro Negro” with Bad Bunny, “Revolu” with Rauw Alejandro, and “+57” with Karol G and other Colombian collaborators, boasts close to a dozen No. 1 hits on the Latin Airplay chart, including “Doblexxo” with J Balvin, “Si Sabe Ferxxo” with Blessd, and “Háblame Claro” with Yandel among his most recent.
“QLONA,” co-written by songwriter Dani Raw and published by Kobalt Music Publishing, won the ASCAP Award for Latin song of the year. Featured on Karol G’s album Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season), the track led Hot Latin Songs for five weeks and reached No. 28 on the all-genre Hot 100.
Among other winners, Universal Music Publishing Group was named publisher of the year for the third consecutive year, thanks to hits like “(Entre Paréntesis)” by Shakira and Grupo Frontera, “Adivino” by Bad Bunny and Myke Towers, “Alch Si” by Carín León and Grupo Frontera, “Gata Only” by Cris MJ and FloyyMenor, and “Igual Que Un Ángel” by Kali Uchis, to name a few.
Additionally, Daddy Yankee broke his own record by earning his 52nd Premio ASCAP as “Bonita” was recognized as one of the most-played songs of the past year.
El Premio ASCAP 2025 honored the songwriters and publishers of the most-performed songs of 2024 in Latin music. Winning songs were determined based on data for terrestrial and satellite radio, and for programmed and on-demand audio streams, all provided by Luminate Data LLC in accordance with ASCAP’s publicly available rules.

Among the winners on site were Keityn, who won Composer of the year for the second consecutive year; Feid, who won composer/artist of the year; Yng Lvcas, who co-wrote “La Bebé,” the track he performs with Peso Pluma and which won Song of the year; and Carlos Vives, who received the coveted ASCAP Founders Award.
Keityn’s win came as a result of working on some of the biggest hits of the past year, including “Monotonía” and “Acróstico” by Shakira and “Amargura”, “Cairo” and “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” by Karol G among many others.

When asked by Billboard which in the list of 10 of hits was his favorite, Keityn — who recently had a baby boy — paused for moment.
“I’d have to say ‘Acróstico,” he finally said. “It’s an extremely personal song, and I feel it’s so important that it’s a song where everything she wanted to say felt genuine. Plus, when I was little, my mom used to make acrostics with our names. And ‘Acróstico’ is literally an acrostic with Sasha and Milan’s names. So, to be able to contribute such a personal song to Shakira is really a gem in my career.”
Keityn’s countryman, and friend, Feid, spoke to Billboard about his soon to be released album with Yandel, which he says came together in a mere two months, after the two of them met at a radio show in Los Angeles.
“I told him, ‘Let’s do an old-school album of five songs. I don’t want filler tracks,” Feid says. Despite the fact that he was on the road in the middle of his tour, the Colombian star found the time to finish. “I love to be inside the studio. It’s the first thing I do when I get up in the morning,” he explains.
Picking up his award, Feid reinforced the team mentality that has been part of his success.
“I may be the face of this project, but we’re a team behind this musical project,” he says.
Vives was the last winner to pick up his award, given for his career trajectory.
When he started as a singer in Colombia, Vives said, “Commercial music had pop music and tropical music. 30 years ago, we started to electrify the percussive patterns of that music, not Cuban style – which is a music we admire and with which we have many similarities, but also many differences. They called it tropipop, and it became the new Colombian pop.”
On his end, 24-year-old Yng Lvcas picked up his award for one of the biggest bangers of the year. “La Bebe” topped Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 11 on the Hot 100.

Acclaimed Colombian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives will be honored with this year’s ASCAP Founders Award, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced Monday (March 4). The presentation of the award will take place April 3 at the 2024 El Premio ASCAP in Miami, an invitation-only event that celebrates this year’s ASCAP Latin Music Award winners.
“Carlos has led a new generation of Latin artists bringing Colombian music sounds to music fans around the world,” said Paul Williams, ASCAP chairman of the board and president, in a press release. “His talent and passion for Latin music and culture are unmatched. His accomplishments have paved the way for so many others and we are thrilled to present him with our highest honor, the ASCAP Founders Award.”
The ASCAP Founders Award recognizes songwriters and composers who have made “pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators,” according to the organization. “Each recipient is a musical innovator who possesses a unique style of creative genius that will enrich generations to come.”

Vives — winner of 18 Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards and a Billboard Latin Music Awards Hall of Fame inductee — has left a profound mark in Latin music. In 2023, he released Escalona: Nunca Se Había Grabado Así, earning his 18th Latin Grammy, for best cumbia/vallenato album, and a 2024 Grammy nomination for best Latin tropical album.
“I want to thank ASCAP for this prestigious recognition,” Vives said in a press release. “It is an honor to receive an award that celebrates my career and contributions. I am looking forward to continuing to share the gift of music with new generations of songwriters and musicians.”
The Colombian powerhouse — whose No. 1 hits on the Billboard charts include “Volví a Nacer,” “Fruta Fresca,” “La Bicicleta” with Shakira, and “Robarte un Beso” with Sebastián Yatra, among others — joins past recipients of the ASCAP Founders Award such as Marc Anthony, Rubén Blades, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Arturo Sandoval, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder and many more.
Colombian chart-topper Keityn, who co-wrote Karol G‘s “Provenza” and Shakira and Rauw Alejandro‘s “Te Felicito,” was named songwriter of the year at the 2023 ASCAP Latin Music Awards.

“Me Porto Bonito” — performed by Bad Bunny & Chencho Corleone and co-written by ASCAP songwriter Master Joe — won song of the year, while Universal Music Publishing Music Group took the publisher of the year honor.
Winners at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ annual awards — which recognize the songwriters, producers and publishers behind Latin music’s biggest hits — where announced Wednesday night (May 3) at an invitation-only event in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
A first-time ASCAP winner, Keityn (real name: Kevyn Mauricio Cruz Moreno) has also been behind chart-topping hits such as “Tusa” by Karol G and Nicki Minaj, Maluma‘s “Hawái” and J Balvin and Tainy‘s “Agua,” to name a few. In October 2021, he signed an exclusive deal with Warner Music Latina, and since then, he has released songs as a performer like “El Egoísmo” with Mike Bahía and Dekko, “Anoche” and “Nueva Versión.”
Song of the year honoree “Me Porto Bonito” — a reggaetón track infused with Latin pop and sandungueo, in which two men promise to behave nicely if the woman they’re after asked them to — spent 20 weeks at the top of Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart. It also reached No. 1 on Latin Airplay, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, and hit the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Universal Music Publishing Music Group was recognized as publisher of the year for hits including “Después de la Playa,” “Efecto,” “La Corriente,” “Me Porto Bonito,” “Moscow Mule,” “Neverita,” “Ojitos Lindos,” “Party,” “Tarot,” “Tití Me Preguntó” and “Un Ratito” — all part of Bad Bunny’s uber-successful Un Verano Sin Ti, the second album in Spanish to ever top the Billboard 200.
Other 2023 ASCAP Latin Music Award-winning songwriters include Daddy Yankee (“Remix”), Jhayco (“Sensual Bebé”), Marc Anthony (“Mala”), Marco Antonio Solís (“Si Te Pudiera Mentir”), GALE (her first ASCAP Latin Award for “Ley Seca”) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Dos Oruguitas”).
