Snoop Dogg is set to carry the Olympic torch on its final leg through Paris, adding a touch of West Coast cool to the City of Light.
The legendary rapper, known for hits like âGin and Juiceâ and âDrop It Like Itâs Hot,â will join the ranks of torchbearers as the flame makes its way to the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 52-year-old, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr, posted a photo to social media on Tuesday (July 23) of himself standing outside the city hall Hotel de Ville alongside the caption: âU Ready? Paris 2024 Olympics ya diggggâ, with gold medal and boxing glove emojis.

Snoop will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, the northern Paris suburb that houses the Stade de France Olympic Stadium, as confirmed by the townâs mayor, Mathieu Hanotin.
It comes following the BTS star Jin also served as an Olympic torch bearer as a representative for South Korea on Sunday (July 14), which also happened to be Bastille Day.
The Doggfatherâs latest roles as Olympic torch bearer and guest correspondent add to his already impressive list of side quests that have seen him dabble in everything from cooking shows with Martha Stewart to commentary on his own wildlife series, Planet Snoop.
On being an NBC correspondent for the 2024 Olympics, Snoop said: âI grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris,â he said in a statement at the time. âItâs a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness.â
âWeâre going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. Itâs going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned.â
And it seems heâs taking his prestigious Olympic guest correspondent role seriously. In June, he participated in the 200m trial run in Oregon over the weekend.
Rocking a Team USA shirt honoring the late Kobe Bryant to go with his American flag-themed pants, the Doggfather laced up his Nike kicks for the race against Ato Boldon and Wallace Spearmon. Unfortunately, Snoopâs competition ended up leaving him in the dust as he finished the race in a distant third place with a time of 34.44 seconds.
For comparison, the 2020 Olympic gold medalist clocked in at 19.62 seconds.
â34.44 for a 52-year-old? Ainât bad,â he said, clapping in approval when he saw his time.
The 2024 Olympic Games will run from Friday, July 25 to Sunday, Aug. 11.

Like the rest of us, Cardi B is getting hyped for the kick-off of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on Friday (July 26). But unlike the rest of us, the âBongosâ rapper actually got to sit down with one of the most exciting members of Team USA recently to get her nails done and share some positive affirmations.
âYou stand out, because the fastest woman in the world? Sheâs a real lit girl,â Cardi said to sprinter ShaâCarri Richardson as the two had their nails tended to for an NBC segment hyping the networkâs coverage of the games. âYouâre like a girl that I could really hang out with, really chill with, really be cool with, really be like⌠GIRL!â
Cardi said Richardson â the Team USA sprinter who is a gold medal favorite to win the coveted 100 meter crown in Paris after losing her spot in the 2021 Tokyo Games over a positive marijuana test â is âone of us,â a compliment that seemed to really touch her new friend.

âIâm really, really proud of you, seriously, because you came back stronger than ever with your talent,â said Cardi, who may have been projecting just a bit as she continues to tease out the long-awaited follow-up to her smash 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy. âYou have, like, evolved.â
Blushing at all the compliments, Richardson said âenough about meâ noting, âyou are Miss Cardi B and I feel like the same way youâre sitting here saying the inspiration or the way that I touch people, I feel like you have that same impact. Just being yourself inspires so many people.â
That last bit almost brought Cardi to tears, as the rapper once again told Richardson how proud she is of her achievements on the track and the women exchanged more praise for each otherâs strength and determination. âYou almost walked away, but this is what you love,â Cardi said. âAnd rapping is what I love and I cannot walk away from what I love because of how other people make me feel.â
Richardson then said the quite part out loud, imploring Cardi to get back to work on her as-yet-untitled, unscheduled sophomore album so she can have new tunes to train to. âI need my race day album,â Richardson said. âI need some new songs!â
And while Cardi didnât offer up any news, she said after agreeing to sit down just to talk, she was walking away âinspiredâ and âwarmâ from Richardsonâs beaming positive vibes. âThe energy⌠I feel it girl,â Cardi said tearing up. âYouâre so special. Like youâre really more than just like an athlete, youâre really special.â The two women then hugged it out.
Cardi posted the clip on X and added another inspirational message, writing, âWishing @itsshacarri sooooo much luck!! You bought so much emotion out of me because your words and your spirit is so powerful. Seeing your growth after people tried to turn their back on you is so inspirational to me.. You are more than just a athlete, you are a SUPERHERO and I canât wait to see where the next 10 years take you because you already a legend.â
While, like the rest of us, Richardson waits for Cardi to drop that new music, sheâs well on her way to making her own headlines after winning the world championship in the 100 last year and scoring a world season-best 10.71 to win the 100 at the U.S. trials last month.
