Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” stirs up a second week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.
The Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

Post Malone & Wallen No. 1 on Global 200

Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, enters the Global 200 at No. 1 with 119 million streams and 81,000 sold worldwide in the week ending May 16, following its wide release May 10 (after it was first sent to radio May 9).

Post Malone, born in Syracuse, N.Y., notches his second Global 200 No. 1 dating to the chart’s start — after Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” on which he’s featured, led for two frames beginning three weeks ago. Wallen, from Sneedville, Tenn., earns his first leader, and second top 10, after “Last Night” reached No. 5 in March 2023.

Notably, “I Had Some Help” is the third Global 200 No. 1, among 59 total so far, that has topped Billboard’s U.S.-based Hot Country Songs chart, joining Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” also this year, and Swift’s 2021 leader “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version).”

Post Malone teased “I Had Some Help” on social media, and he and Wallen debuted it in concert during Wallen’s April 28 headlining spot at the Stagecoach festival in Indio, Calif. Following its release, the pair performed it May 16 at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards in Frisco, Texas.

Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” holds at its No. 2 Global 200 high; Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” drops to No. 3 a week after it debuted at No. 1, although with a 9% gain to 118 million streams worldwide; Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” slips 3-4, after hitting No. 2; and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” keeps at its No. 5 high.

That’s That No. 1 ‘Espresso’

Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” pours on a second week at No. 1 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 87.3 million streams (down 3%) and 7,000 sold (down 7%) outside the U.S. May 10-16. The track previously became the first top 10 on the list for the Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter and actress.

Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” bounds 8-2 for a new Global Excl. U.S. best; Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, launches at No. 3 with 45 million streams and 12,000 sold outside the U.S., becoming Post Malone’s second top 10 and Wallen’s first; Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” falls 2-4, after eight nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 starting in February; and FloyyMenor and Cris Mj’s “Gata Only” descends 4-5, after reaching No. 3.

Plus, Shaboozey’s first Global 200 top 10, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” likewise becomes his first Global Excl. U.S. top 10, rising 13-10 with 32.4 million streams (up 16%) and 7,000 sold (up 19%) outside the U.S.

The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated May 25, 2024) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, May 21. For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard’s subscription-based service. Vince Staples has been a professional recording artist for much of his teenage and adult life and one chapter of his musical journey is closing. The Long Beach, Calif. star shared that his upcoming album Dark Skies will be his final release with Def Jam Recordings.
Vince Staples, 30, has released several acclaimed projects while signed with the famed label but has been a vocal critic of the music and entertainment industry. With Dark Skies, Staples is ending his relationship with the label he signed with at 19.

From Instagram:

Eleven years ago, a young, uncertain version of myself was given an opportunity with Def Jam Recordings. I released my first project under their banner, Shyne Coldchain Vol 2, a year later. I was unsure of what to expect from the world of music but deeply aware of what I needed: a change in my surroundings and a clear understanding of self. Ten years and seven projects later, I’ve found that clarity. Now, I share with you my final Def Jam release, Dark Times. 5.24.24

With the critical success of his Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show, it isn’t known where his creative endeavors will land him after the release of Dark Skies, which hits DSPs on and beyond on May 24.
From the looks of the Instagram caption, perhaps this will find Vince Staples revealing what he’s learned in his newfound clarity.

The Denver Nuggets blew a golden opportunity and are now thinking about Cancun after the Minnesota Timberwolves ended their title defense run.
It took a historic 20-point comeback from the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Denver Nuggets to punch their ticket into the Western Conference Finals to play the Dallas Mavericks.
The Timberwolves’ Game 7 victory at Ball Arena in Denver was the punctuation mark on a story that began last year in a local bar that ESPN highlighted in a story.
Per ESPN:
The Timberwolves had just lost to the Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs in April 2023, with Anthony Edwards’ potential game-tying 3 coming up empty as time expired in Game 5. Afterward, Edwards and a couple of teammates went to a cocktail lounge, Forget Me Not, in the Cherry Creek neighborhood, with their chartered flight back home not scheduled to leave until the next morning.
Of all of the gin joints in all of the towns in all of the world, Denver point guard Jamal Murray — fresh off a 35-point showing in the closeout game — just so happened to walk into the same bar as the Timberwolves.
And Edwards, a budding star yet to have the breakout postseason that has turned him into a bona fide superstar this spring, had a message to deliver to Murray.
“He was talking s—,” Edwards told ESPN as he walked down the ramp toward the team bus after his club’s 98-90 victory on Sunday. “He was telling Mike [Conley], ‘I’m sick of you, you can’t guard me,’ and all that.
“I told him, ‘We’ll be back. You’ll see us again when we’re fully loaded.’”
A Historic Night For The Timberwolves & Nuggets
Anthony Edwards’ words turned out to be prophetic.
He and his Timberwolves erased a 20-point third-quarter deficit, completing one of the largest comebacks in Game 7 history in the past 25 NBA postseasons.
The Nuggets also made history, becoming the first team in NBA history to lead by 15 points or more at halftime and lose a Game 7 playoff game. They also became the fifth consecutive defending NBA champions not even to sniff the conference finals.
Speaking on his squad’s herculean effort, Ant-Man told reporters, “It shows who we are. Once we really lock in on the defensive end, man, we’re a hell of a team to beat.”
Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns, who is usually the butt of the jokes when they can’t clown Rudy Gobert, came up big for his team.
The team’s No. 1 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft kept his team in the game by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals, and a blocked shot.
Kat was also effective when defending three-time league MVP Nikola Jokic.
His head coach, Chris Finch, had glowing words about Towns. “I think you see how at peace and happy he is right now,” Finch said. “He had to trust that he was never going to be marginalized. All young players always think they can do it all by themselves, but in this league, nobody can.”
“I couldn’t be more happy and proud for him. Just because I think he’s faced a lot of unfair criticism when it comes to the postseason at times.”
Of course, the reactions to the Nuggets choking were on point. You can see those in the gallery below.

Juvenile was on Instagram Live over the weekend when he got annoyed by fans asking about a Hot Boys reunion. The crew consisting of Juvenile, B.G., Lil Wayne, and Turk haven’t released an album since 2003’s Let ‘Em Burn, so he’s been asked about a reunion since before Instagram was even a thing.

Well, it looks like all the pestering has finally worked, because the Cash Money Millionaire revealed that not only will the Hot Boys will be reuniting at Essence Fest in New Orleans this July, but that they’ve also been working on a new album.

“Hot Boys is back together, man. What you talkin’ about put the Hot Boys back together? Show y’all ain’t keeping up with s–t,” he says in a clip from his Live. “Turk gonna be with me tonight, I’m gonna be with B.G. next week. Me, Wayne, Turk, and B.G., all of us gonna be on stage in New Orleans with Mannie Fresh and Birdman. And we already done started working on a Hot Boys album. Any other f—king questions? Keep on askin’ put the Hot Boys together. Have some f—kin’ patience.”

It’s unclear whether or not there is a larger rollout planned for the upcoming Hot Boys reunion. It’s hard to imagine the plan was to have Juvie randomly blurt it out on Instagram Live.

Juvenile most recently found success making a video for the title track to his 1998 album 400 Degreez. The video features producer Mannie Fresh and was made to celebrate the multiplatinum album’s 25th anniversary.

Aside from creative differences, one factor that greatly effected the Hot Boys is incarceration. B.G. and Turk both served lengthy prison sentences, with the former serving 12 years and the latter serving nine.

Since being released in September, B.G. has been dropping a torrent of music, including “Gold Teeth Grizzle” and “Really Understand.” A few months after Turk came home in 2012, a remix to his song “Zip It” surfaced featuring Juvie, Wayne and B.G., making it one of their first reunion songs since 2003.

Either way, this is great news for white tee enthusiasts everywhere.

Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” becomes her sole longest-charting hit on the Billboard Hot 100, adding a 54th week on the survey, dated May 25. It one-ups the 53-week run of her fellow former No. 1, “Anti-Hero.”
“Cruel Summer” claims the mark among Swift’s 263 career Hot 100 entries, the most among women in the chart’s history.

The song was originally released on Swift’s 2019 Republic Records album Lover. The label began promoting the song as a single last June, after Swift began performing it on her The Eras Tour, her first in which she’s been able to spotlight songs from Lover, which was released shortly before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Cruel Summer” debuted at No. 29 on the Hot 100 dated Sept. 7, 2019, and remained on the chart the following week. It returned on the June 3, 2023-dated ranking, reached the top 10 last July and notched the first of its four weeks at No. 1 on the chart dated last Oct. 28, becoming the 10th of Swift’s 12 career No. 1s. It places at No. 20 on the May 25-dated Hot 100.

Among Swift’s Hot 100 hits, “Cruel Summer” has also logged the most weeks in the top five (20) and top 10 (34).

Swift and Jack Antonoff co-produced “Cruel Summer” and co-wrote it with St. Vincent. Notably, in between its Hot 100 debut and re-entry, the three were credited as co-writers of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Deja Vu” for its interpolation of “Cruel Summer.”

“The song we said was the best [on Lover], but we thought, ‘Oh, you know what? This will be our secret best song,’ ” Antonoff said of “Cruel Summer” upon its Hot 100 coronation. Added Swift, “We just wanted to say thank you so much for making ‘Cruel Summer’ a Hot 100 No. 1, and it’s not even summer anymore. It’s deep fall, I’m wearing a sweater.”
