Diddy made another court appearance this week. The mogul has pleaded not guilty to two superseding indictments.

As per Vulture, Diddy appeared in federal court Friday (March 14) to hear some updates regarding his sex trafficking case. Additionally, he was formally accused of added charges related to his business practices. Prosecutors allege that he threatened employees with bodily harm if they did not assist in facilitating his supposed trafficking schemes.

They also say his employees would be subjected to hostile work conditions, including very long hours, which afforded them very little sleep. Even more damning are two victims that claim that they were forced to participate in the sex acts. “Victim 2” and “Victim 3” add that “on one occasion, Combs dangled a victim over an apartment balcony.” He plead not guilty to both indictments.

Diddy’s sex trafficking trial is set to start on May 5. According to CNN, his legal team has requested that jury selection commence that same day with opening statements to start May 12. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn; the same facility where former YouTube personality Taxstone was recently charged with smuggling contraband into.

On Feb. 21, the Hip-Hop world was saddened to learn that the mother of the legendary Notorious B.I.G., Voletta Wallace, had passed away at the age of 78 years old.

Her funeral service was held Wednesday (March 12), at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in New York City almost 30 years after it held the service to lay her son, Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace, to rest. Many of his Hip-Hop peers showed up to bid Ms. Wallace goodbye.

According to Rolling Stone, the guest list to attend the funeral was strict and limited, but quite a few of your favorite music stars from yesteryear made the service. The likes of Ma$e, Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim and Faith Evans were in attendance to pay their respects to the woman who birthed the greatest rapper of Hip-Hop’s golden era.
Other notable figures who attended Ms. Wallace’s funeral included Jay-Z’s mother, Gloria Carter, Diddy’s son, Christian Combs, and of course her grandchildren, T’yanna and Christopher Wallace.

It’s pretty cool to see a mini Junior Mafia reunion going all these decades later. Maybe they’ll work on some new music at some point. Just sayin’.
A public viewing was held for Voletta Wallace Tuesday (March 11), and fans were invited to pay their respects. “This will be an opportunity for all of us, together, to acknowledge and pay tribute to the matriarch who built her son’s memory into the legacy that stands today, allowing his iconic music and his legendary style to touch and inspire generations upon generations of music, hip hop and popular culture fans across the globe,” Voletta Wallace’s Instagram post read.

Rest In Power, Queen.
We hope you and your son spend eternity making up for the lost time you were robbed of here on Earth.
P.S. Tell Biggie the rap game is “meh” these days.

The music business has earned a reputation for being recession-proof. In bad economic times, people still pay for their music subscription services and want to go to concerts. Some synch opportunities may dry up as advertisers make cutbacks, but overall, the music is a hearty business that doesn’t follow typical economic cycles.
Music business stocks, however, aren’t immune to fluctuations in the market and investors’ worries about the increasingly fragile state of the economy. This week, just three of the 20 companies on the Billboard Global Music Index (BGMI) finished with gains, and five stocks had losses in excess of 10%. Despite a host of strong quarterly earnings results in recent weeks, President Donald Trump’s tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, China and Europe have caused markets to panic, taking down music stocks along with the industrial and agricultural companies most likely to be affected.

The S&P 500 entered correction territory on Thursday (March 13) when it closed down 10% from the all-time high. The Russell 2000, an index of small companies, was down 18.4% from its peak. Most stocks improved on Friday (March 14) as markets rallied — despite a decline in the University of Michigan’s consumer confidence index — but the first four days of the week were too much to overcome. The S&P 500 finished the week down 2.3% and the Nasdaq composite closed down 2.4%.

Markets outside of the U.S. fared better than U.S. markets. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 dropped just 0.5%. South Korea’s KOSPI composite index rose 0.1% and China’s SSE Composite Index improved 1.4%.

Even though 17 of the 20 companies on the BGMI posted losses this week, the index rose 0.5% to 2,460.71 because of Spotify’s 8.1% gain, and the dollar’s nearly 1% increase against the euro offset the weekly declines of 17 other stocks. Spotify is the BGMI’s largest component with a market capitalization of approximately $117 billion — more than twice that of Universal Music Group’s (UMG’s) $50.2 billion. The stock also received rare good news this week as Redburn Atlantic initiated coverage of Spotify with a $545 price target (which implies 5.5% upside from Friday’s closing price) and a neutral rating.

UMG shares fell 8.8% on Friday, a reaction to Pershing Square’s announcement on Thursday that it will sell 50 million shares worth approximately $1.5 billion. Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman called UMG “one of the best businesses we have ever owned.” JP Morgan analyst Daniel Kerven admitted the news was “a near-term negative for confidence” in UMG but saw Pershing Square’s decision to sell shares as a move to take profits and re-weigh its portfolio (UMG was 27% of Pershing Square’s holdings) rather than a commentary about UMG’s long-term potential or recent operating performance. UMG shares ended the week down 8.2% to 25.46 euros ($27.78) but remained up 6.5% year to date.

Live Nation shares dropped 6.5% to $119.22, marking the stock’s fourth consecutive weekly decline. During the week, Deutsche Bank increased its Live Nation price target to $170 from $150 and maintained its “buy” rating. On Friday, a judge denied Live Nation’s request to dismiss an accusation that the promoter illegally forced artists to use its promotion business if they wanted to perform in its amphitheaters.

Other U.S.-based live entertainment companies also fell sharply. Sphere Entertainment Co. fell 10.1% to $31.55. MSG Entertainment dropped 1.3% to $31.46 despite Wolfe Research upgrading the stock to “outperform” from “peer perform” with a $46 price target. Vivid Seats, a secondary ticketing platform, fell 28.1% to $2.86 after the company announced fourth-quarter earnings.

Radio companies, which tend to suffer when economic uncertainty causes advertisers to pull back spending, had yet another down week. iHeartMedia fell 12.0% to $1.61. Cumulus Media dropped 11.5% to $0.46. And SiriusXM, which announced layoffs this week, fell 10.1% to $22.67. Year to date, iHeartMedia is down 24.4% and Cumulus Media is down 40.3%. SiriusXM, on the other hand, has gained 1.4% in 2025.

K-pop stocks also fell sharply despite South Korea’s market finishing the week with a small gain. HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment had an average decline of 7.4% for the week. Collectively, however, the four South Korean companies have had a strong start to 2025 and, after this week, had an average year-to-date gain of 19.3%.

When offensive lineman James Hudson III signed with the New York Giants on Thursday (March 13), he probably didn’t expect to hear from T-Pain hours later.
The Giants posted a photo of Hudson III inking his two-year $11 million agreement to X and fans began saying he looked like T-Pain and made references to the Nappy Boy Entertainment CEO.

“I’m finna turn this franchise around,” T-Pain hilariously promised when quote-tweeting the photo of Hudson on X.

Aye chill out 😂— James Hudson III ™ (@Cinco_Cinco3) March 14, 2025

Hudson had a sense of humor about the exchange as he replied to T-Pain with a laughing emoji: “Aye chill out.”

Trending on Billboard

T-Pain’s original response has over 278,000 likes and counting since Thursday night. Football fans chimed in looking to see what skillset the Florida native had to offer. “Mr. Pain, Jokes aside, we need a quarterback. Talk soon,” one Giants fan asked.

Another joked: “New song coming soon — I’m In Love With A Kicker!”

T-Pain’s Nappy Boy Entertainment leaned into the joke further when crafting a fake quote from ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith. “The fact other teams in the National Football League did not sign him sooner… is criminal,” they wrote.

Hudson spent the first four seasons of his career playing offensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns before signing with Big Blue.

Although he didn’t sign with the Green Bay Packers, T-Pain is returning to his second home of Wiscansin in June for his fourth annual Wiscansin Fest.

The “Buy U A Drank” singer will be hitting The Rave stage alongside Pusha T, Wale, Keyshia Cole, Feid, NLE Choppa, DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal), Jermaine Dupri, Kash Doll, Armani White, and more to be announced at a later date.

Tickets for the two-day festival going down on June 13 and June 14 are now available.

Years ago, a man by the name of YM Bape (Anthony Lopez) made a name for himself on social media for bullying anyone on the street simply for wearing Supreme attire (the man was a huge fan of A Bathing Ape) until he tested the wrong one and ended up catching a universal.

Fast forward to 2025, and the man who became infamous for his bullish ways and banging on his chest is now set to serve a lengthy prison sentence on a completely unrelated matter. According to Complex, YM Bape has just been sentenced to a 25 to life prison bid for his role in a murder-for-hire conspiracy in New York City. This past Thursday (March 13), a jury convicted Lopez of “murder, conspiracy, criminal solicitation, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon on Dec. 13, 2024.”

From the videos of him bullying random Supreme hypebeasts on the streets, we figured the man was a little off in the head, allegedly. But we didn’t think he’d go so far as to murder someone. As it turns out, the murder was payback for an attempted murder on his own life, but Lopez ended up taking the life of an innocent man.
Per Complex:
Prosecutors say that after Lopez was shot three times on April 18, 2019, on New York City’s Lower East Side, he sought to exact revenge on a neighborhood gang rival who he believed was responsible. According to prosecutors, Lopez developed a plan “to hire someone to murder the rival in a retaliatory shooting.” Per a release from the Manhattan district attorney’s office, Malik Facey offered on June 22, 2019, to carry out the murder for Lopez for between $1,000 and $2,000.
Prosecutors say that on July 12, 2019, Lopez and his associates met on the Lower East Side to plan the murder of their rival. Early the next day, Facey met with others involved in the plot at 20 Avenue D; at approximately 2:40 am there, Facey fired shots towards 35-year-old James Weeks, an innocent bystander. Weeks, rather than the rival Lopez had allegedly conspired to kill, was shot dead.
In court on Thursday, Weeks’ brother gave a victim impact statement, saying that Lopez felt no remorse for setting up the fatal shooting. The brother held up print-outs from Lopez’s Instagram that showed him smiling from his cell on Riker’s Island. The prosecution read an impact statement from Weeks’ wife, Jessica Santos, who said she and their children had suffered through years of trauma in the wake of her husband’s murder.
Though Lopez did not accept responsibility for the shooting, he did say he was “sorry for what happened.” The judge was having none of it and pointed out his that behavior on social media after the shooting and during the court proceedings was less than stellar.

At the sentencing, Judge Robert Mandelbaum underscored a contrasting image, describing video footage taken shortly after the killing that showed Lopez and his friends “yukking it up” and “happy as clams” despite having murdered an innocent bystander. Judge Mandelbaum noted how Lopez’s in-court behavior during the course of the trial was at-times unruly; at one point, the judge said, Lopez punched through a window at the courthouse, smashing a barrier of reinforced glass.
Play stupid games…ya know the rest.
