Mariah Carey Teases Fellow Christmas Fans That ‘It’s Almost Time’ From Her Tub

The Queen of Christmas has spoken! Over the weekend, Mariah Carey shared with the Lambs that although we’re getting closer to the holiday, she’s not quite ready to break out the Christmas song everyone’s waiting to hear.

“It’s almost time…,” the superstar teased in a Sunday (Oct. 16) tweet showing off her festive red robe strewn on the steps leading to her luxurious jacuzzi-style bathtub. (In true Mariah fashion, a giant display of red and white roses spelling out her initials was also part of her bathroom decor.)

However, before fans could get to excited about hearing the twinkling opening notes of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Carey hit the brakes in a pair of follow-up tweets. “But…,” she cautioned before definitively declaring, “Not yet.”

In the video shared with her final tweet, Mimi playfully kept her boundaries about the start of the holiday season iron-clad as Dem Babies pressed her to start celebrating early. “We want to listen to ‘All I Want…’” 11-year-old Moroccan insisted from off-screen before his twin sister Monroe added, “Well, can we at least decorate the tree?” Of course, Carey’s answer to each inquiry from her kids was a playful and bubbly “Not yet!” from inside her tub.

Part of the reason the icon may not be ready to kick off all things Christmas — including a potential fourth consecutive year of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100 — is because she’s been busy celebrating landmarks for two of her other favorite albums. In September, she marked the 25th anniversary of 1997’s Butterfly with a series of special surprises for the Lambily, and weeks later penned a tribute to 1995’s Daydream as her “most bittersweet album” on the 27th anniversary of its release.

Harry Styles Shakes Off ‘Unfortunate’ Concert Moment When an Object Hits Him Where It Hurts: Watch

Watermelon sugar, ow. At his Friday night (Oct. 14) concert in Chicago, Harry Styles had to take a brief pause after getting hit square in the crotch by something thrown at him by a fan in the audience.

The moments leading up to the incident were innocent enough: The 28-year-old pop star was simply chatting onstage at the United Center about the “unseasonably cold” temperatures in the Windy City when, suddenly, a small but mighty item sailed out from the crowd and smacked straight into Styles’ nether region. It’s difficult to discern from a fan video what the unidentified flying object was — but whatever it may have been, it clearly packed a mean punch.

Upon impact, the “As It Was” singer stopped in the middle of his sentence, let out a small groan and doubled over. “Oh … that’s unfortunate,” he said into the microphone, tenderly holding his groin.

After a pause, the Grammy winner shakes out his right leg, then his left, before getting back to work. “OK, shake it off,” he says before diving back into his show.

Styles is currently touring in support of his May-released third studio album Harry’s House, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 and spawned the singer’s second No. 1 single with “As It Was.” On Saturday (Oct. 15), he completed the final show of his six-night mini-residency in Chicago, preceded by a historic 15-night residency at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in late August/early September and a six-night stay at Austin’s Moody Center.

Soulja Boy, Ozzy Osbourne and Dillon Francis to Play Metaverse Festival in Decentraland

As real-life touring continues to be plagued by cancellations, Soulja Boy, Dillon Francis and Ozzy Osbourne are turning to virtual worlds. The Metaverse Music Festival returns on Nov. 10-13 for its second year in Decentraland — an immersive digital world built using blockchain technology and owned by its users — with more than 100 artists across 15 stages. The event will be free to attend and no crypto wallet is required to participate.

Set in a cyberpunk city of the future, Dillon Francis will open the festival with a “mega club” experience projected on several screens, while Soulja Boy will perform through a virtual avatar. The digital setting also allows for elaborate stage design. “The final [headline set] should look like a city from the future, abandoned for 100 years,” says Sam Hamilton, creative director at Decentraland Foundation.

Despite the metaverse backdrop, the team hopes to recreate a real-life festival experience, complete with atmospheric rain (every festival needs mud), custom dance moves called ‘emotes,’ pop-up nightclubs and even a virtual porta-potty experience.

“[We’re] trying to capture that chaos that happens at a real festival inside a digital world,” explains Hamilton.

The festival features a diverse lineup thanks to Decentraland’s global community picking many of the performers. “We’re curating the main stage,” says Iara Dias, head of the Metaverse Music Festival, “but we gave the rest of the stages to the community for curation.” As a result, the lineup also features Chinese idol group SNH48 and Japan’s J-pop group Atarashii Gakko!

“Rather than trying to be American-centric,” adds Hamilton, “We’re trying to give a cultural experience to everybody that they wouldn’t normally be able to have.”

More than 50,000 attendees logged into Decentraland to experience 2021’s inaugural event with performances from crypto-native artists including Deadmau5, 3LAU, RAC and Alison Wonderland. This year will also feature crypto favorites like CryptoPunk rapper Spottie Wifi and British DJ Akira the Don, but the foundation hopes that a roster of bigger names will expand the festival’s reach.

Virtual music performances have grown in popularity in recent years, partly due to COVID-19 lockdowns putting IRL concerts on hold. Travis Scott and Ariana Grande both played virtual concerts in Fortnite’s virtual gaming world, while MTV launched a Best Metaverse Performance category.

Decentraland, however, is different from corporate metaverses like Fortnite as it is owned and operated by its users through crypto technology. The land inside the world can be bought and traded by the community who then choose what to build. Wearables and digital items can be traded on the platform’s native marketplace.

“The big difference is philosophy,” says Hamilton. “We believe that the user should not be the product, but should own and direct the product.”

Decentraland’s community also helps make decisions through a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

Despite last year’s metaverse hype, however, these virtual crypto worlds are not as popular as Fortnite, Roblox and others. As the tide goes out on the metaverse mania, Decentraland has approximately 60,000 monthly active users according to data provided by the foundation; a small number compared to the tens of millions of daily users on gaming worlds like Roblox.

“We’re working hard to catch up with the hype,” admits Hamilton. “We needed longer to build out a better platform with more features but the hype [of 2021] came too quickly.”

Last year’s festival brought in Decentraland’s biggest numbers of the year, and Hamilton believes this year’s event will bring another wave of new users to the platform. “The metaverse is inevitable,” he concludes. Zooming out, he envisions a network of virtual worlds, some centralized and some decentralized, but not necessarily dominated by one company or platform. “This is definitely happening.”

A Timeline of Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber’s Relationship

Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber are a powerhouse couple in the entertainment industry who’ve been married since 2018. But like everyone else, the duo have had ups and downs in their relationship, from the “are they or aren’t they” speculation, to rumors of the two seeing each other while he was dating Selena Gomez, to doubling the joy with two weddings, and more.

Their love story started simply and beautifully, with a backstage meeting at NBC’s TODAY show in 2009, thanks to an innocent introduction Hailey’s dad, actor Stephen Baldwin, made between his then 14-year-old daughter and the young pop star. Then just two years later, the two were photographed together on the red carpet at the premiere of his Never Say Never documentary.

A few years after that, the pop star’s social media posts led to fan speculation that the two were perhaps more than just friends, which both parties quickly denied. “I’m super single and this is my good friend u would know otherwise,” Bieber insisted on social media.

Though they refuted rumors of a romance, it wasn’t long before they were sharing holidays and vacations together. Come December 2015, it seemed there was no more denying it. Bieber shared a photo on Instagram of himself sharing a steamy kiss with the model.

He confirmed in a July 2018 Instagram post that the couple were engaged. “So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindly,” he wrote to the Rhode founder in his post.

Since getting married later that year, the two have endured baby talk and criticisms of their relationships, helped each other through terrifying health issues, and more.

GloRilla Fires Back At ‘F.N.F.’ Producer Hitkidd As Song Ownership Dispute Heats Up

GloRilla caught a win with her breakthrough hit “F.N.F (Let’s Go),” but she has also run into a legal dispute with the song’s producer, Hitkidd.

On Sunday (October 16), Hitkidd called out GloRilla on Twitter after the Memphis rapper and her team allegedly tried to seize ownership of the viral hit.

The 27-year-old producer claimed Big Glo signed paperwork for the song — on which he shares co-billing — without informing him of the terms of the deal, and is now trying to drag him to court over the issue.

“So basically these folks are trying to take me to court over ‘FNF’ because they want to OWN the song, BUT they want to own the song to put it on this EP which both parties knew,” he wrote. “So tell me how you gone PUT ‘FNF’ in your contract without telling me, AFTER…

“I told you & your MANAGER everyday that we was in LA with Saweetie, that labels are going to try to sign you because of FNF so watch out. I also told you to let me know when labels reach out so we can be on the same page, but you still went and signed my song without telling me.”

He added: “I did my best to protect you and the girls. This is only a portion of what I’ve been through. I’m bringing light to this before word get out like I’m the bad guy. I’m a stand up guy and I stand on business and morals.”

Hitkidd also revealed he warned GloRilla and her manager against using Collective Music Group’s lawyers when she signed to Yo Gotti’s label earlier this year, but they apparently didn’t listen.

“I told her and her manager not use the lawyers from the label, they still did,” he wrote in response to a fan who speculated that GloRilla “used in-house attorneys at CMG” who negotiated a deal that favored their artist.

In another tweet, Hitkidd called out Jenn Essiembre, Vice President of Publishing at 300 Entertainment, for allegedly claiming he was signed to the label when he wasn’t.

“And Jenn from 300 ent lame too for telling her boss I was signed to them and I wasn’t,” he wrote, before adding: “Everybody mad cause I wouldn’t sign to them.”

GloRilla caught wind of Hitkidd’s tweets and responded via a series of posts on her personal Facebook page, where she claimed the producer is “salty” because she didn’t sign to his label as part of a group.

“N-ggas been salty every since ian sign to Dey label to be a group for $0 smh,” she wrote along with multiple crying face emojis.

‘FNF’ Rapper GloRilla Reacts To Cardi B Co-Sign & Details ‘Crazy’ DM Exchange

The 23-year-old also alleged Hitkidd actually sold “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” for $50,000 without telling her before the song blew up.

“One more thing before I log out N-GGA YOU SIGNED DA SONG AWAY THE FIRST WEEK( WITHOUT ME KNOWING) FOR 50k BECAUSE YOU DIDNT KNOW HOW BIG IT WAS GONE BE !!!!! SHOULD I KEEP GOING ??????” she asked.

GloRilla capped off her response with an impassioned message claiming she has made barely any money from the song herself, while saying she still has love for Hitkidd despite their legal disagreement.

“N-gga done made so much money from FNF & I haven’t made not 1 red cent (other than shows )??but I’m stilll prospering cause guess what ??? I CAN RAP IN REAL LIFE & ain’t no mf 1 hit wonder !!!!

“I WROTE EVERY SINGLE LYRIC IN EVERY SINGLE SONG I EVER PUT OUT ?& even after all this I still got luv for hitkidd cause we came up together even doe he been going behind my back every since the song blew but dats another story for another day.”

She added: “I just hate da fact he had to bring da business to social media when I could’ve BEEN came out about the snake shit he been doing to me.”

The dispute heated up further when Kadeem Phillips, CEO of Power Entertainment and Hitkidd’s business partner, weighed in and broke down the alleged arrangement between GloRilla and Hitkidd, much to the former’s displeasure.

Phillips claimed Hitkidd split the rights to “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” evenly with GloRilla and looked out for her to the point he “saved her from losing millions” while navigating the music industry.

“Let me address this from the business side. Because I see a lot of confusion,” he began in a Facebook post. “End of the day [Hitkidd] did great business. He gave up 50% of the masters and 50% of the publishing for FNF directly to Glo.

“We actually did everything to protect Glo from the industry and herself. Honestly Glo independently collects the money for FNF its all hers she just doesnt own the song and never will. We actually saved her from losing millions and Glo was able to get a deal without having to sell her independent record.”

Yo Gotti Rapper GloRilla Calls Out Body-Shamers, Gets Coi Leray’s Support: ‘She Said What She Said!’

Phillips then blamed CMG for any financial issues GloRilla may be experiencing, while calling it a “pathetic way for a Black man from Memphis to attack another Black man from Memphis,” seemingly referring to Yo Gotti.

“Glo and Hitkidd get 50% split evenly of all the money brought in on FNF. Unfortunately CMG froze all the money even Glo money in their latest claim to us,” he added. “So if she hasnt seen her money. Tell her to ask her label about it since she ‘sold’ her masters and publishing to them.

“Glo wont see a dime until her advance paid back but that was her choice by signing to CMG. Luckily Hitkidd still OWNs the song because we did a deal to keep the ownership. His deal was only to distribute the song and market it so that Glo as well as the other girls could be successful.”

GloRilla responded in his comments section with: “Shut yo big crybaby Fat assss up y’all lie bout everything you da biggest slime outta the whole situation he even kno dat but ok.”

“F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” was released on April 29 and quickly became a viral hit on TikTok. The song’s success earned GloRilla a lucrative deal with Yo Gotti’s CMG, a co-sign from Cardi B and the award for Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Big Glo has since kept the momentum going with the release of “Tomorrow” and its sequel, “Tomorrow 2,” which boasted an appearance from Cardi.

ARMY Reacts to BTS’ Mandatory Military Service Announcement: ‘Pray for Bangtan’s Safety’

A decision has been made: The members of BTS will be fulfilling their duty and performing mandatory military service in South Korea, a move that will leave the K-pop group unable to perform with all seven members until 2025, BigHit Music announced on Monday (Oct. 17). After the big announcement, distraught BTS ARMY members shared their dismay and and wished the group — which consists of members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook — well before they officially enlist.

“Let’s pray for Bangtan’s safety when they enlist,” a concerned fan wrote. “Pray they will be treated fairly and with respect. Hope they will be able to get by, & even if they don’t publicly communicate, I hope they can call their loved ones. I also hope they’ll be together once there! I mean even if they don’t see us or be able to communicate with us, as long as they have each other, we will be relieved.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, and encouraged those who practice a faith to consider extending their prayers to BTS. “Religious Army please get together and pray for BTS’ safety for when they leave to fulfill their military duties and will be away from the public eye for a long time, pray for their safety and security at all times, that everything will go smoothly for them all throughout,” the fan wrote.

Elsewhere online, BTS fans expressed disbelief in the military service announcement, with one writing, “pretending that this whole bts coming back till 2025 from serving in the military is a fever dream and they will be back in a week.”

Unfortunately for ARMY, BTS’ military service is now a sure thing. According to BigHit’s statement, “Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government. Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans.” The statement also added that the group will reconvene around 2025, after each members’ respective drafts are over.

In the meantime, Jin is next up for solo endeavors, and announced plans for a new track to arrive sometime soon. At the group’s Yet to Come concert in Busan, South Korea, on Oct. 15, Jin told fans in attendance he “got the opportunity to work with someone I like, so a single will come out soon.” The new material will make Jin the second BTS member to debut a solo project after J-Hope.

Jason Aldean Fans Boo Maren Morris’ Name After He Mentions Her in Concert

The Aldean family conflict with Maren Morris reached a new peak at Jason Aldean‘s concert Friday night (Oct. 14). While teasing the identity of his show’s surprise guest — who turned out to be Morgan Wallen — the “You Make It Easy” singer name-dropped Morris and paused as his Bridgestone Arena crowd in Nashville loudly booed.

“I thought, man, who could I call?” Aldean told his audience in fan-captured video, drawing out the suspense of his surprise guest. “I got some friends in town. I could call Luke Bryan. I could call Kane Brown. See if Kenny Chesney’s here and not at the beach.”

Then, he simply said the name of “The Middle” singer, before trailing off as his audience audibly jeered.

This follows an August social media disagreement between Morris and Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean. After Brittany made a transphobic joke on Instagram (“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life,” she’d captioned a makeup video). She followed it up with an Instagram Stories statement in which she doubled down on her stance. “Advocating for the genital mutilation of children under the disguise of love and calling it ‘gender affirming care’ is one of the worst evils,” she posted. “I will always support my children and do what I can to protect their innocence.”

In a response to Cassadee Pope, who had tweeted her opposition to Brittany’s comments, Morris agreed with the singer and former Voice contestant. “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human?” replied the “Make You Say” singer. “Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.”

In September, Morris opened up about why she feels so strongly about speaking out when it comes to social justice issues, even when her fellow country artists and fans of the genre oftentimes disagree with her — and do things like, say, boo the mention of her name at a concert.

“I try to rise above — not even bad behavior, but just expected behavior that has become normalized that is bad,” she told Apple Music Country’s Proud Radio with Hunter Kelly. “[My husband’s] like, ‘I hate that you always feel like you have to be the hall monitor of modern country music’s behaviors in and around race and homophobia, transphobia.’”

“I don’t need to feel like I have to always be that person that speaks up,” she continued. “I think I come across a lot louder than I actually am because everyone else is so quiet.”

Kanye West Buys Conservative Social Media Platform Parler In Bid For ‘Free Speech’

Kanye West has agreed to purchase the conservative social media platform Parler, the company announced on Monday (October 17).

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” the Chicago rap mogul said in a statement.

Parler’s CEO George Farmer — the husband of rightwing commentator and Kanye associate Candace Owens — added: “This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech. Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again.”

Financial terms of the deal weren’t announced, although Parler previously raised $56 million in funding from outside investors.

The platform has become a favorite among conservatives since former president Donald Trump claimed he was being unfairly silenced by Twitter and other mainstream apps.

Parler, which was initially launched in 2018, was blacklisted by major tech companies including Google and Amazon last year for its role in the January 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol building.

The move comes after Kanye West had his Twitter and Instagram accounts restricted due to a series of posts that were deemed anti-Semitic.

In a text exchange with Diddy shared online earlier this month, Ye accused Puff of being controlled by Jewish people after he spoke out against the “White Lives Matter” shirt he wore at his Yeezy Season 9 show in Paris.

He also threatened to go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE” in a since-removed tweet, adding: “The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also[.] You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

Kanye West has continued to make headlines for all the wrong reasons, with the latest controversy coming courtesy of his explosive “part three” interview with Drink Champs.

Kanye West Spouts More Wild Claims About Jews In Unaired ‘Fox News’ Interview Clips

At one point during the three-and-a-half-hour conversation, Yeezy suggested that fentanyl was the cause of George Floyd’s death, rather than disgraced Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin kneeling on his neck.

“I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put up. One of the things that his two roommates said was, ‘They want a tall guy like me.’ And the day when he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes… They hit him with the fentanyl,” Ye said.

“If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that,” he added, referencing the viral video of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd. “When he said ‘Mama,’ Mama is his girlfriend. They said he screamed for his ‘Mama’; Mama was his girlfriend — it’s in the documentary.”

With all of his flagrant comments and antics in recent weeks, even his friend and former president Donald Trump believes Kanye West is acting “crazy” and should seek “professional help,” according to Rolling Stone.

Nicki Minaj May Be Nominated In 2023 Grammys Rap Categories After All

Nicki Minaj’s tirade against the Grammys, which led to an all-out Twitter war with Latto, may have been somewhat overblown.

Last week, the Young Money superstar called out the Recording Academy after they blocked her Rick James-sampling “Super Freaky Girl” from the rap categories at the 2023 Grammys and instead put it forward for Best Pop Solo Performance.

Demanding “fair” treatment, Nicki argued Latto’s “Big Energy,” which also features a prominent ’80s pop sample, should be bumped into the pop categories as well, sparking a very lengthy and very messy back-and-forth between the two rappers.

But as Variety has pointed out, Nicki Minaj hasn’t been completely ruled out of the rap categories at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=_Upwdq1UAVw

Despite the furor over “Super Freaky Girl,” the Queen rapper still appears on the ballot in the rap division thanks to her “Do We Have a Problem?” collaboration with Lil Baby, which is in content for Best Rap Performance.

The Grammys’ rap screening committee apparently considered this more of a true Hip Hop song, unlike the more pop-oriented “Super Freaky Girl.”

While “Do We Have a Problem?” hasn’t quite enjoyed the same chart-topping and record-breaking success as “Super Freaky Girl,” the track still made a respectable splash, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 while going gold in less than three months.

Nicki Minaj appears several other times on the Grammys ballot in the rap categories, albeit for her guest work. Coi Leray’s “Blick Blick” is on the ballot for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, while BLEU’s “Love in the Way” is eligible for Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance.

Drake & The Weeknd Snub Grammys For Another Year Running

First-round voting for the 2023 Grammys ends on Sunday (October 23), with the nominations set to be announced on November 15. A Nicki Minaj versus Latto match-up could be on the cards in the Best Rap Performance category if “Do We Have a Problem?” and “Sunshine” earn enough votes.

However, Nicki and Latto’s Grammys beef may end up a footnote at next year’s awards, with Kendrick Lamar the hot favorite to sweep the rap categories thanks to his Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers LP, as well as his stirring “The Heart Part 5” single.
