Ozzy Osbourne Reacts to ‘Patient Number 9′ Grammy Nominations: ‘The Whole Thing Shocked Me’

Ozzy Osbourne earned four Grammy nominations for his Patient Number 9 album, and he tells Billboard that the nods were an unexpected, yet welcome, surprise.

“The whole thing shocked me,” he says in a new interview with Lyndsey Havens. “I mean, if I won anything for the album I’ll be floored.”

“That’s what I like about the business. It’s never short of — I love surprises,” he adds in the clip of the Q&A above.

Osbourne says he’s “kind of excited for being nominated for the best rock album” for Patient Number 9, which topped Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums chart in September. He’s also nominated for best rock song and best rock performance, for the song “Patient Number 9” featuring Jeff Beck, as well as best metal performance for “Degradation Rules” with Tony Iommi. Asked whether he’ll prepare a speech or wing it on Grammy night, should he win any awards, Osbourne admits that giving speeches isn’t really his specialty.

“I’m not good at making speeches,” he says. “I always end up saying it twice or blowing it or whatever. I’m sure my wife will have it worked out. Behind me is my wife. My wife pulls my strings.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the 74-year-old rocker noted that the album’s title, Patient Number 9, is “me, I suppose. The last four years have been sheer hell for me. I’ve been in such a bad… healthwise. Plus I got [a] Parkinson’s diagnosis. But I’m, you know, takes a lot to hold me down.”

Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Eyewitness Offers Confusing Testimony, Pegs Both Tory Lanez and Megan’s Ex-Friend as Shooter

Sean Kelly, an alleged eye witness to the 2020 incident in which Megan Thee Stallion was shot, offered confusing and contradictory testimony Tuesday (Dec. 20) about what really happened, saying he never actually saw a gun — but also that he saw a man matching Tory Lanez’s description holding one, and that Megan’s former friend and assistant Kelsey Harris may also have fired.

During the seventh day of the blockbuster trial, Kelly (a key witness for Lanez’s defense team) testified that when he first looked outside his home on the night of the incident, he saw Megan and Harris kicking and punching each other outside of a vehicle. “They were pulling their hair and hitting each other. It was quite violent,” he told Lanez’s attorney George Mgdesyan.

Shortly after a man matching the description of Lanez’s driver Jaquan Smith got out of the car and attempted to separate them, Kelly says he heard a shot fired. He said a man matching Lanez’s description then exited the car, leading to a scuffle between all four people — and that four or five more shots then rang out.

Lanez’s defense team has suggested throughout the trial that Harris, not Lanez, potentially pulled the trigger, partly based on an earlier interview Kelly gave to them in Jan. 2021. In confusing testimony that repeatedly contradicted itself, Kelly didn’t offer much clarity on that point. The alleged witness, who called 911 but never identified the shooters on that call, first said he “never saw a gun” and “just saw flashes” and that he believed one of the women fired it — before later appearing to confirm that he saw Lanez (referred to as “the shorter guy”) holding the weapon.

“Did you see the shorter guy with a gun in his hand?” asked Mgdesyan.

“Yes,” answered Kelly.

Later in his testimony, Kelly said he witnessed three of the people beating one of the women in the street as she was curled in a ball, before hearing the man matching Smith’s description say, “The cops are coming!” He then said he saw someone in the group pick the woman up — at which point he believed the group was going to attempt to throw her into a nearby creek. “It appeared to me they were trying to kill her. Dragged her across the street and picked her up,” he said.

Kelly became visibly agitated during cross-examination from the prosecution, when he once again testified that he saw the man matching Lanez’s description shooting the gun, saying “the short guy was agitated; he got out of the car. His arm was stretched out and he was firing everywhere. Four or five shots.” At this point, Lanez, wearing a white turtleneck under a white jacket, looked on sternly, his eyes bulging as he listened to Kelly’s testimony.

During the redirect with Mgdesyan, Kelly once again appeared to contradict his own version of events, stating, “I believe the girl [Harris] fired the first shot.”

Kelly’s testimony came more than a week into a closely-watched trial over the July 12, 2020 incident, during which prosecutors say Lanez yelled “Dance, b—-” and shot at Megan’s feet, striking her at least once. He’s charged with three felony counts — assault with a firearm, gun possession and discharging a firearm with gross negligence — and could face as much as 22 years in prison if convicted.

The first week of the trial saw gripping testimony from Megan herself, who recounted the alleged shooting, pinned the blame on Lanez, and said, “I wish he had just shot and killed me.” Later in the week, Harris — expected to be a star witness for the prosecution — largely failed to re-affirm previous statements pinning the blame on Lanez. But on Friday (Dec. 16), prosecutors played recordings of those earlier statements, in which Harris clearly stated that Lanez had shot the Grammy-winning rapper and then tried to buy both women’s silence with million-dollar bribes.

Ohio Police Continue Nalah Jackson Hunt After Kidnapping 5-Month-Old Twins And Abandoning One At Airport

Police in Ohio are pleading with a woman named Nalah Jackson to return a missing 5-month-old twin boy. The infant, named Kason Thomass, has been missing since Monday night. Police believe Kason is in danger. An AMBER alert is in place.

Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon addressing the carjacking and kidnapping, as well as the recovery of one of the twins named Kyair Thomass.

“First, I want to make a plea. Nalah Jackson, I plead to you please return Kason Thomass. We thank you for returning Kyair. You’ve already shown us you can do the right thing. You can return him to any safe location: fire department, hospital, shopping center. Any public place where someone will find the baby.

We’re begging you to please return Kason. We can even pick him up, just call us and tell us where you are and where Kason is. No questions asked. Here’s the number 614-645-4701. Bringing him home safe is our number one priority.”

Police believe the suspect stole a black, four-door 2010 Honda Accord from the parking lot of a pizza shop called Donatos. The establishment is located at East 1st Avenue and North High Street in Columbus, Ohio.

Additional details about the vehicle: missing front bumper, torn temporary Ohio registration tag on rear bumper and a white bumper sticker that says ‘Westside City Toys.’

Police also believe the car was in a crash and sustained damage, including purple paint transferred to its left side, prior to the carjacking.

Their mother left the missing child and his twin Kyair in the running car. At the time of the carjacking and kidnapping, the twins’ mother was working as a DoorDash delivery driver. Thus, she was at the restaurant fulfilling an order pickup.

Employees reportedly informed investigators that Jackson was inside the restaurant when the mother walked in at approximately 9:45 p.m. on December 19. Jackson promptly exited the restaurant and proceeded to steal the vehicle with the infants in the backseat.

Kyair was later abandoned safely outside the Dayton airport at about 4 a.m. Tuesday. He is reportedly in the care of his parents. It’s unclear if the mother will face any charges, including endangerment.

Suspect Has No Apparent Connection To The Twins Or Their Mother

The 24-year-old suspect is a Black woman, described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and 159 pounds. She has a low cut, black hair, and brown eyes. Police haven’t identified any known connection or relationship between Nalah Jackson and the mother and children.

Columbus police identified Jackson as a ‘homeless’ or a displaced person who has a criminal history with their department. One of her arrests includes child endangerment with intent to harm–as confirmed during Tuesday’s conference.

Surveillance footage released by the Columbus Division of Police captured Jackson at a gas station in Huber Heights at about 11:45 p.m. on Monday night. At the time Jackson entered the station, asking an employee for money, she was still driving the stolen Honda Accord.

Here’s A Timeline Of The Kidnapping & How The Public Can Help Police Locate The Missing Infant

Police Chief Bryant released a timeline of events on Tuesday. They first received the report regarding the stolen car and missing children at about 9:45 p.m. local time on Monday. Officers arrived on the scene at about 9:52 p.m.

By 10:17 p.m., police had established a grid-pattern search involving more than 50 officers and the department helicopter.

About 13 minutes later, neighboring police departments and the Ohio State Highway Patrol received notification about the case and joined the search.

Police continued their investigation, including visitation to Jackson’s known former addresses and three homeless camps in the Columbus area.

Though Columbus police requested an AMBER alert from the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 11:45 p.m., the statewide alert wasn’t issued until 1:37 a.m.

Police received a call about Kyair Thomass being abandoned at the Dayton airport at 4:15 a.m. The abandonment location is about 70 miles from the kidnapping location via I-70 W. It takes about an hour of travel to get there from Donatos in Columbus.

Columbus police detectives departed for Dayton to continue their investigation at about 6 a.m. Tuesday. Huber Heights police alert Columbus police about capturing Jackson on surveillance video at the gas station.

Jackson’s current location and the location of the vehicle remains unknown. 

Officials urge anyone with information to call 911 or the Columbus Department Special Victims Unit at 614-645-4701.

John Mayer Reveals Who ‘Your Body Is a Wonderland‘ Is About on ’Call Her Daddy’ Holiday Special

John Mayer stopped by Call Her Daddy for the hit podcast’s first-ever holiday special and spilled some major tea about his breakout hit “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”

The topic came up when host Alex Cooper asked the rocker what he was like in high school, in an episode that dropped Tuesday night (Dec. 20). “I didn’t have a presence,” Mayer admitted. “So I think that one of the bigger misnomers about me is that there’s like a jocky-ness to me, you know? Like there’s an alpha, musician jocky-ness to me and the bottom line is, like, I went to school to get it over with. And my life began at 3 o’clock in the afternoon when I came home and played guitar.”

Cooper was quick to point out that just a few years after graduating from high school, he was winning his first Grammy for 2002’s “Your Body Is a Wonderland.” And yet, Mayer insisted that — contrary to the mythos surrounding his love life — he was hardly a Hollywood playboy at the time.

“That was about my first girlfriend,” he said of his sophomore single. “That was about the feeling, which I think was already sort of nostalgic… I was 21 when I wrote that song and I was nostalgic for being 16.”

When Cooper pressed that she always thought the sensual smash was about a certain, unnamed celebrity, he responded, “No, that’s one of those things where people just sort of formed that idea, it gets reinforced over the years, no, no, no. I had never met a celebrity when I wrote that song.”

Next year, Mayer will embark on the final Dead & Company tour, starting May 19 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Anuel AA’s ‘LLNM2’ Debuts at No. 2 on Top Latin Albums Chart

Anuel AA nets his fifth straight top five album on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart as his latest release, LLNM2, debuts at No. 2 on the Dec. 24-dated ranking. The Puerto Rican’s fourth solo studio album boasts the fifth-largest opening sum of 2022 among Latin albums.

LLNM2 starts with 23,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 15, according to Luminate. The 33-track set was released Dec. 9 via Anuel’s label Real Hasta La Muerte.

Among all Latin albums in 2022 (anything that reached the Top Latin Albums chart), LLNM2 posts the fifth-largest opening sum, behind Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti (273,000 units), Eslabon Armado’s Nostalgia (29,000), Daddy Yankee’s Legendaddy (29,000) and Romeo Santos’ Formula, Vol. 3 (26,000).

On the multi-metric Top Latin Albums chart as measured in equivalent album units, each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

Streaming comprises 22,000 of LLNM2’s first-week units, which equates to 33 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs. The remaining 1,000 stem from traditional album units and track-equivalent album units.

LLNM2 follows Anuel’s fourth-studio album, Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren, which debuted in Dec. 2021 at No. 1, where it remained for two weeks. Notably, Emmanuel, his second entry, holds strong at No. 31 on Top Latin Albums in its 133rd week on the tally.

As LLNM2 arrives, four tracks secure a spot on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, three debuts and a reentry, starting with “La Máquina” at No. 23. The song earned 2.75 million clicks in the tracking week ending in Dec. 15. Here are the new recruits:

Former R. Kelly Manager Donnell Russell Sentenced To 1 Year In Prison For Doc Premiere Threat

It looks like the former manager and friend of the Pied Predator of R&B will be joining his disgraced associate in spending time behind bars.

R. Kelly’s one-time manager, Donnell Russell, was sentenced to a year in federal prison Monday (Dec. 19) for calling in a shooting in order to halt Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary from premiering in New York in 2018.

According to the Associated Press, Russell admitted to U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe that he had “made bad judgments” while working with the convicted sex trafficker whose entire adult life and career appears to be a string of bad (and abusive and predatory and gross) judgments.

Russell said he reconnected with Kelly, a fellow Chicagoan he’d met decades earlier, as the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer was facing a growing series of accusations that eventually fueled Kelly’s sex trafficking and racketeering conviction last year. Russell said he set out to help Kelly with intellectual property matters that he thought could yield the performer money to pay legal bills.

But prosecutors said Russell also worked on something else: trying to suppress the abuse allegations. He tried to intimidate at least one accuser, threatened to sue over Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” series and eventually phoned in the warning that shut down the documentary’s 2018 Manhattan premiere, according to prosecutors.

The phone call claimed that someone at the event had a gun and intended to fire. The screening was canceled and the theater evacuated.

Imagine being such a dedicated protector of an abuser of Black women and girls that you’re willing to call in a terrorist threat in order to shut down a film premier where the voices of numerous alleged victims will be heard.

Gardephe said during sentencing that Russell had engaged in “serious criminal conduct” in “a misguided attempt to protect someone who was a prolific abuser.” (Sounds like the kind of thing one should spend more than a year in lockup for, but OK.)

Russell was convicted in July of threatening physical harm through interstate communication. Days later, he pleaded guilty to a federal charge of interstate stalking involving another of Kelly’s accusers. For that, a Brooklyn judge sentenced him to 20 months in prison. Russell is due to turn himself in next year and will serve both prison sentences concurrently.

It’s been a banner year for hip-hop and Billboard recently rounded up our critics’ picks of the genre’s 15 best tracks of 2022. But now that we’ve run through our favorites, we want to know which hip-hop song you loved the most.

The past twelve months have seen newcomers like GloRilla and Ice Spice explode onto the scene and rising stars like Latto finally break through, while hitmakers such as Kendrick Lamar, DJ Khaled, Cardi B and more continued to successfully crank out smash singles and fan-favorite album cuts.

In fact, not one but two tracks by GloRilla have landed in Billboard‘s top 10 picks of the year — “F.N.F. (LET’S GO),” her debut release, at No. 1 and its Cardi B-assisted follow-up “Tomorrow 2” at No. 6. Lamar is another artist who delivered multiple hits this year: “N95” and “Rich Spirit,” both off his fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.

While they’ve both been indicted in the sprawling RICO case against YSL, Gunna and Young Thug collaborated with Future on “Pushin P,” which became the highest-charting single off the former’s third studio album, DS4Ever.

Meanwhile, DJ Khaled enlisted an entire entourage of A-listers, from Jay-Z and Rick Ross to Lil Wayne and John Legend, for “God Did,” the title track off his stacked thirteenth studio album that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its July release.

Other songs that made our list of favorites include Latto’s Tom Tom Club-interpolating “Big Energy,” Vince Staples‘ “When Sparks Fly” and “Hotel Lobby,” the grimy single released by Quavo and Takeoff just one month before the latter’s tragic murder.

Diddy Gifts Twin Daughters Matching Range Rovers For Their Sweet 16

Being a new father is not stopping Diddy from being there for the rest of his children. He recently gave his twin daughters matching range rovers for their birthday.

As spotted on Madame Noir the entertainment mogul made sure to make his twins’ special day even more special. Last weekend D’Lila Star Combs and Jessie James Combs celebrated their 16th birthdays together and he gave them a brand new Range Rover each. The luxury automobiles were contrasting in color with one having a black interior with white exterior and the other having a white interior and black exterior. Naturally the young ladies were floored by their dad’s over the top gifts. In footage captured from the event the two are seen covering their mouths in shock.

Their celebration in question seemed to be one for the record books as the Combs girls did outfit changes in theme with outer space. Coi Leray was in attendance and was giving a play by play via TikTok. “Okay, first of all, the twins sweet 16 — we are going crazy” she exclaimed. “The twins are about to take over 2023!”
