Donald Trump continues to put on a masterclass in nominating people to positions in the United States government that they have no business being in.

On his mission to “Make America Healthy Again,” Donald Trump is enlisting the best quacks the country has to offer to solicit bad health advice to American people coming off a once-in-a-generation pandemic, and as diseases that were once considered 100% neutralized, like the measles, are on the comeback.

We already have vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in charge of HHS and TV doctor and Oprah’s biggest blunder, Dr. Mehmet OZ, as Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. To make matters worse, Trump has nominated “Dr” Casey Means to take on the role of Surgeon General.
What could go wrong?
Well, a lot.
According to MSNBC, Trump nominated Means after yanking Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, a Fox News contributor, ‘s nomination for the position without explaining the move.
The website points to right-wing activist, radical conspiracy theorist, and one of Trump’s closest confidants, Laura Loomer, criticizing Nesheiwat, specifically being BIG MAD about her support for life-saving Covid vaccines.
Trump claims the Nesheiwat will work at HHS in “another capacity,” giving Means the lane to become the nation’s top doctor.
Casey Means Lack of Experience For The Job
The AP went ham in their description of Means and perfectly explained why she is not qualified for the position, calling her just a “wellness influencer. ” They noted that she dropped out of her surgical residency program and has no experience in public health administration, something very much needed for the Surgeon General job.
The same report also describes her as a snake oil salesman who makes a living selling “dietary supplements, creams, teas, and other products sponsored on her social media accounts.”
Bruh.
When asked why he chose someone with no experience to be the top doctor in the country, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he said, “I don’t know her,” but only picked her because Kennedy “thought she was fantastic.”

What a glowing recommendation. We are being sarcastic, of course.
Social Media Is Freaking Out About Casey Means & Pointing Out How Fringe She Is
Social media has been responding to the latest nomination, and as expected, folks are apprehensive about another fringe doctor pushing bullsh*t health alternatives while disregarding proven medical science.
“Trumps’s new surgeon general nominee is Casey Means withdrew from her medical residency at age 30. She thinks you can stay healthy by focusing on metabolic health?! And Laura Loomer got rid of the original nominee for being too pro-vaccine? We’re living in an SNL skit,” one user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.

We are in deep trouble. All folks had to do was vote for the Black lady, but, of course, they couldn’t do that.

Zach Bryan keeps making big moves. After recently re-upping his deal with Warner Records, the Grammy winner has now purchased the historic former Saint Jean Baptiste Church building in Lowell, Mass., and is set to transform it into the previously-announced Jack Kerouac Center. That project was initially revealed in 2022, but was paused due to funding obstacles.

Bryan bought the building from McGowan and TMI Property Management and Development, which previously acquired the building and property from the Archdiocese of Boston in 2006.

The partnership between the Billboard Hot 100-topping singer-songwriter and the Jack Kerouac Estate will work toward furthering the legacy of novelist and Massachusetts native Kerouac, while also helping aid creativity within Kerouac’s hometown. Kerouac served as an altar boy at the church when he was a child, and the building is where Kerouac’s funeral mass was held in 1969.

The new center will include exhibits, and will feature live music, public readings, and community events.

“We’ve been working on this deal with Zach and his team for several months,” Sylvia Cunha, who leads marketing and business development for the Jack Kerouac estate, said in a statement. “He stepped up and delivered in a big way, showing incredible generosity. Our immediate focus is to bring the building up to code so we can start using the space for music and other events while forming new partnerships to help us bring this vision to life and ensure its lasting success.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Zach Bryan and his team to honor Jack Kerouac in such a meaningful way,” added Jim Sampas, the literary executor of the Jack Kerouac estate. “The Jack Kerouac Center will stand as a lasting symbol of inspiration, forever linking Jack and Zach. [Bryan’s Investment] is a significant addition to the cultural fabric of Lowell and beyond, drawing visitors from all over the world.”

Bryan has long been a fan of Kerouac, who is known as a pioneer of the Beat Generation and lauded for his books including On The Road, Big Sur, and The Dharma Bums. In 2022, Bryan noted in an Instagram post that his song “Burn, Burn, Burn” was inspired from a line in Kerouac’s On The Road.

Aguilera included a photo in a recent Instagram gallery, showing herself pulling her mask down as she bedded down for the evening. The singer is currently serving as an executive producer in London’s West End in London for Burlesque: The Musical, which means she’s likely spending a lot of time traveling back and forth between London and Los Angeles.

The mask is from the brand Drowsy, which is a top-tier choice if you also find yourself trying to get sleep on planes — and we’ve rounded up some information and shopping options so you can try it out for yourself.

For starters, the mask is made of silk and features a 100% blackout design. One of the ways that it does this is with its size, as it covers from the top of the forehead to just below the nose. To keep it cozy, it has a slit provides an opening for the nose that you can, quite literally, breathe more easily. Even though it covers much of the face, it’s incredibly soft and doesn’t pull or tug.

The mask also offers a stretchy band that is completely adjustable, which also keeps it from pulling. The brand prioritizes skin health and wrinkle-prevention, which is one of the reasons why it’s so soft.

Aguilera isn’t the only celeb who’s a fan of the mask, as it has been spotted on Winnie Harlow, Jenna Dewan, Natasha Rothwell, Taylor Hudson, Emma Brooks and Luna Montana. At $79, if you want to grab one for yourself, you can choose between seven fun colorways on Drowsy’s site.

Country music’s canon of songs is filled with compositions celebrating the support and comfort  of family — and particularly the championing, caring, uplifting work of mother figures, whether they be biological, adoptive, or titular. Vic Mensa has come out in support of Kehlani after the singer has seen two of their live shows canceled in recent weeks.
The Chicago rapper shared an open letter on Instagram to the Bay Area singer about her recently canceled SummerStage Central Park.

“Dear Kehlani,” his Wednesday (May 7) post began. “Few artists, and even fewer at your level of success, have chosen to center humanity and courage as boldly and uncompromisingly as you have, let alone at the peak of their popularity. Although newer to religion, I have a deep seated belief that God, or the universe, or however you categorize the all-powerful presence of the divine, is taking note — of every selfless action, of every sacrifice, of every time we jeopardize our security to do what’s right. I toe the line with you.”

He continued on by sharing that he sometimes has been reluctant to speak up because he didn’t want to lose opportunities.

“I lost a lot,” he wrote. “I’ll be honest. But, perhaps out of necessity, I have to choose to believe that when the smoke clears, I’ll look at my past with pride; I wasn’t perfect, but I forged myself out of fire. I took the hard road. I’ve been awe inspired by the way you’ve stood up. Especially at a time when I fell back and I asked myself, ‘Although, I need to feed my son, what kind of man do I want to inspire him to be?’”

Vic then brought up his Muslim faith and commended Kehlani for their sacrifice and bravery. “The highest form of sadaqah, or charity, is that which is given in health, and with much loved wealth,” he wrote. “When we give, not what we don’t need, but what we need most, the reverberation is supreme.”

He added, “I have often thought about your choices over the last 18 months. Wished I was more brave and more self sufficient. The truth is, your people love you. Not because of an opportunity provided to you by a booker here, or a city there, but because they cherish the depth of your soul. None of this can change that. As long as you have them you can never lose. The powers that be may be great, but I do believe we can all agree — there is a greater power.”

In response to Cornell University canceling their show, Kehlani reiterated that she isn’t antisemitic or antisemitic — she’s anti-genocide. When it came to the SummerStage cancellation, the musician responded with “lol” on Instagram Stories and added that they found out about the cancellation on IG.

The “Afterhours” artist has been open about her support for Palestine in the Israel-Hamas war. In 2023, they — along with numerous other musicians called for a ceasefire when signing the Artists Against Apartheid letter. Her 2024 music video for “Next 2 U” also featured dancers waving Palestinian flags.
