Cardi B Wears Two Different Looks at the 2023 Met Gala

Cardi B served not one, but two different looks at the 2023 Met Gala on Monday night (May 1), kicking off the evening while leaving NYC’s The Mark Hotel in a pink chiffon gown, with florals blooming out like wings behind her.

However, when she got to the Met Gala, Cardi appeared in a sleek tuxedo gown, complete with massive black roses and a Karl Lagerfeld-inspired grey hairdo. Eagle-eyed fashion fans noticed that the “Bodak Yellow” rapper’s two looks were likely in reference Chanel’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 show, in which Lily-Rose Depp walked the runway in a frilly, powder pink gown. Lagerfeld later joined her on the runway in a sleek, shiny tux.

“This skirt is giving Chanel Boy bag, and the flowers — when you get a Chanel purse, you always get white flowers but this one is black. Up top, it’s giving Karl,” Cardi told Vogue on the red carpet. “I’m representing the House of Chanel and Karl at the same time.”

The rapper’s stunning outfit perfectly fits this year’s theme, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which honors the iconic fashion designer who died in February 2019 and his seven-decade career.

Diddy & Yung Miami Address Their Relationship Status While Attending 2023 Met Gala Together

Diddy and City GirlsYung Miami attended the 2023 Met Gala together Monday night (May 1), but once they arrived at the top of the famed stairs, host La La Anthony asked the “million-dollar question:” “Do y’all officially go together real bad?”

Diddy dodged the question by attempting to deflect to Yung Miami, whom he called by her first name Caresha. But once La La applied pressure, he finally responded. “We definitely go together real bad!” he said before clarifying, “She’s my date for the night. … We don’t put titles on it. Everybody wants us to put a title on it, we don’t put titles. This like my best friend in the world, one of the most beautiful people God has blessed me with. And I’m blessed that she’s my date tonight.”

Caresha chimed in by agreeing, “Yeah, it’s just a good date night.”

Puff Daddy couldn’t stop sweating during the red-carpet interview, desperately needing the assistance of a powder puff and mini portable fan to keep him cool. But the pressing questions about Love’s love life weren’t the only reason he was perspiring: Diddy showed up in an all-black ensemble from his fashion brand Sean John, which he bought back at the end of 2021 for $7.5 million, and his original black rose-adorned puffer cape got him real hot.

“I got a chance to spend time with Karl [Lagerfeld] when I was designing Sean John, just as a fellow designer. And he was so creative, and he had so much attention to detail,” he told Anthony about honoring this year’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” He also thanked June Ambrose, the renowned creative director and costume designer who helped him create some of the music mogul’s most iconic looks, for helping him with the first Sean John collection.

And for Caresha, at least one thing about the evening was official official: her Met Gala debut. “It feels like a dream come true,” said the City Girls MC. “I’m like, ‘OK, you got through it.’ It was good, it was perfect! It was everything.” Diddy then cut in to give his date for the evening her flowers. “You were perfect. She’s gorgeous, stunning, incredible,” he mused.

“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” will showcase more than 150 original looks designed by Lagerfeld, who died at 85 years old in 2019, delving into the former Chanel creative director’s expansive seven-decade career. Many of his original sketches are also set to appear alongside the objects on display.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie Pays Tribute to 1990 Chanel at 2023 Met Gala

Jennie has officially arrived at the Met Gala on Monday (May 1), and she didn’t disappoint.

The BLACKPINK superstar stunned in a vintage look originally designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel’s fall/winter 1990 line. The white mini-dress cinched with a black, flower-embellished belt is paired with sleek black opera gloves, black tights, a thick choker with the singer’s hair slicked back into a chic headband.

Of course, the look aptly follows this year’s theme, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which honors the iconic fashion designer who died in February 2019 and his seven-decade career.

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for Jennie, who took the stage at Coachella last month along with her BLACKPINK bandmates to become the first Korean act to headline the festival. “We’re so excited and honored to be able to return to Coachella as headliners,” she told Billboard. “We had the best time in 2019 and can’t wait to experience the energy of the audience again. There are some nerves, but more than anything, we’re just ready to have fun.”

Jennie is also set to star in Sam Levinson’s upcoming HBO drama, The Idol. See Jennie’s full 2023 Met Gala look below.

Lil Nas X Makes the Whole Met Gala Shimmer in His Bold Bejeweled Look

Lil Nas X took the glitz and glamour of designer Karl Lagerfeld literally for his 2023 Met Gala look, encrusting his neck and face in intricate jewels and pearls, covering his body in metallic paint, and rocking a single item of clothing: a silver thong.

The “Old Town Road” pop star looked like one of the late Chanel designer’s embellished tie pins come to life, completing the gilded look with inch-long silver fingernails and platform boots.

This isn’t Lil Nas X’s first metallic look at the Met Gala: Back in 2021, he rocked a three-in-one gold ensemble, which started with a quilted, neck-high gold cape; followed by a C3PO-worthy gold robot suit; and finished with a gold-embellished black bodysuit.

The theme of the 2023 Met Gala — a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York — is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” honoring the late designer’s work and aesthetic.

The event also serves as the opening for a Lagerfeld-specific exhibit at the Costume Institute.

In addition to Lil Nas X, gala co-chair Dua Lipa in white Chanel, Ice Spice making her sleek Met Gala debut, Anitta rocking chunky black heels, and Doja Cat dressed as Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette have all graced the red carpet.

Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino Throws White House Correspondents Dinner After-Party Amid Lobbying Push

Live Nation chief executive Michael Rapino was in Washington D.C. over the weekend, hosting his own party around the White Correspondents Dinner on Saturday.

The Axios After Hours Presented by Live Nation party on Saturday was held at the National Building Museum with media partner Axios after the White House Correspondents dinner ended and included a private performance from rising country star Lainey Wilson.

Rapino, who received $139 million in salary and stocks last year, according to a SEC fillings, isn’t a major political donor and hasn’t appeared at a major congressional hearing in a decade. But with the Live Nation-owned Ticketmaster coming under fire from lawmakers in recent years over long-standing concerns about anti-competitor business practices and the Taylor Swift ticketing crash in November, Rapino’s presence capped off a frenzied lobbying effort over the last two years to build a political base for the company.

Financially, Live Nation had its best year ever in 2022, posting a record $16.7 in revenue last year and $732 million in income. But the growing music conglomerate has largely been politically inactive in the years following its 2010 merger with Ticketmaster.

That changed in 2019 when the Department of Justice recommended extending a consent degree governing the 2010 merger. Last election cycle, Live Nation spent $1.4 million lobbying Congress, more than it has ever spent before. That spending is expected to continue unabridged in 2023 as Live Nation continues to lobby for ticketing reform legislation to curb illegal scalping activities, floating its own FAIR ticketing proposal as as a possible model for legislation.

Miley Cyrus Set to Guest Star on Netflix’s ‘Human Resources’

Miley Cyrus is headed to Human Resources. Netflix announced Monday (May 1) that the pop star will lend her voice talents as a guest star on the upcoming second season of the Big Mouth spin-off.

The streamer also dropped an animated teaser with the news, which finds Randall Park’s Pete the Logic Rock spilling the tea to the other characters that Cyrus will play an undisclosed role in the new season. “Oh my god, did you just say Miley?” Brandon Kyle Goodman’s Walter the Lovebug pops up over the wall of his cubicle to ask before Maya Rudolph’s Connie the Hormone Monstress runs over excitedly to add, “As in Hannah Montana?” (“This is so exciting!” declares Aidy Bryant’s Emmy the Lovebug as Pete spills his thermos of water thanks to an overexcited Connie.)

Other guest stars in the season include Florence Pugh, Eugene Levy, Sam Richardson, Niecy Nash-Betts and Isabella Rossellini, along with returning voices like Hugh Jackman, Pamela Adlon, Henry Winkler, Thandiwe Newton, Rosie Perez, Bobby Cannavale, Cole Escola and more.

Cyrus’ stint on the very adult Human Resources will be her first TV role in the wake of releasing her eighth album Endless Summer Vacation. Led by the global No. 1 smash “Flowers,” the studio set bowed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Since then, its ever-blooming lead single scored a rare hat trick by simultaneously topping the Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Adult Contemporary charts.

Watch the monsters of Human Resources geek out over Miley’s pending arrival in the season 2 teaser below.

Doja Cat Attends 2023 Met Gala Dressed as Karl Lagerfeld’s Cat

Doja Cat lived up to her name at the 2023 Met Gala on Monday (May 1), when she came dressed as, well, a cat.

Not just any cat, though. The “Woman” superstar’s jewel-encrusted look, complete with a cat ear headpiece and prosthetic feline nose, is in tribute to Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, Choupette. The look is perfectly on theme, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, in honor of the fashion designer who died in February 2019.

Choupette, who Lagerfeld adopted in 2011, hilariously confirmed earlier in the day that she wouldn’t be attending the prestigious event via an Instagram post. “Many people invited me to walk the red carpet of the #METGALA2023 in tribute to Daddy, but we preferred to stay peacefully & cozy at home,” the post reads alongside photos of the lounging kitty. “We pay tribute to my Daddy every day since his parting and we are very moved to see one more day dedicated to him.”
