Hayley Williams Shares Health Update After Postponing Paramore Shows: ‘I Don’t Cough All Day & Night Anymore’

Paramore‘s Hayley Williams revealed that she’s been feeling better these days, after the band had to cancel the remaining dates of its recent tour due to her coming down with a lung infection in recent weeks.

The frontwoman shared an update about her health in a post to Paramore’s Discord server on Monday (Aug. 28), revealing that the band is already in the process of recording new material.

“We’ve been off the road for a couple of weeks now…mainly in LA. Thankfully got some down time but we put some work in too. It felt good to get back into a studio. More of that once we get home to Nashville,” the “Running Out of Time” singer started the post.

She continued, “I can hardly believe I don’t cough all day and night anymore. My stomach is still f—ed from 10 kinds of medication…I’m just happy to be resting more. When I was feeling my worst, I couldn’t do much but just sleep and lay around. I watched all of Yellowjackets, 3 or 4 music docs, They Cloned Tyrone, A Good Person (never cried so much or stared blankly across my living room for longer after a movie was over)…but mostly I just scrolled around on my phone…to a degree that has been, to put it nicely, disgusting.”

After taking a moment to muse on her recent social media use, Williams expressed a desire to have a better routine in place, one that will give way to her and bandmates Zac Farro and Taylor York creating more material.

“Zac and Taylor and I also just want to get back to making things. Not only the creative process but the layer(s) of insulation that can come with the creative process,” she explained. “For me, when we get into this mode it always feels nice to disappear this way. Maybe this time I will be able to find balance between the disappearing and yet not completely shutting out the world. But probably not.”

The new update comes after Paramore canceled the final two dates of their North American tour slated to take place in Portland, Ore., on Aug. 10 and in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Aug. 13. Earlier this month, Williams shot back at an Internet user online who criticized her for postponing shows and insinuated she could have carried on like Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, who in the past has performed shows with a broken leg while sitting on a throne.

“I have a lung infection you soft s—! Not a broken limb,” she wrote to the person who called her “whiney,” noting, “One you can sing with for 2 hours, another you cant. But worry not! The shows weren’t canceled, merely postponed a week. Maybe you should come out to one of them… like Dave did.”

Grupo Firme Closes Tour With Record Attendance as Eduin Caz Stuns With Health News

Saturday night (Aug. 26) will go down in Grupo Firme‘s history as the group set a new record at the Feria Nacional Potosina with 300,000 fans in attendance at their concert, according to figures provided by the Coordinación Estatal de Protección Civil in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The numbers also represent a new record for the group, which in 2022 gathered around 250,000 people in Mexico City’s Zócalo.

However, what will remain etched in the memory of fans aside from the music is that frontman Eduin Caz shocked followers with a revelation about his health. In the last year, Caz underwent cancer surgery after suffering from Barrett’s esophagus, a condition associated with an increased risk of developing esophageal cancer.

“I gathered the best doctors, God bless, and I had the surgery,” Caz said. “I never revealed it because I don’t like to be looked at like, ‘Oh, poor thing.’ But I just had a study done and I’m doing great.”

“He had a tumor and they removed it, a sign that we beat the cancer,” Vicente Zambrano, Grupo Firme’s publicist, clarified to Billboard Español on Monday (Aug. 28).

On July 30, Caz announced on social media as he celebrated his 30th birthday while touring in Costa Rica that once the trip was over he would take a break from his career but the group would remain intact. He did not specify the reason or how long he would take but said it was a personal matter.

“I lost many things that are not coming back. The truth is that I balance out everything I have lived through, and honestly, that was how things had to happen,” he said at the time. “But I think I need to go back to putting myself first, and to feel good about myself.”

Grupo Firme’s temporary hiatus comes at the conclusion of its Hay Que Conectarla stadium tour, which began April 15 in Washington, D.C., and traveled through 13 cities across the U.S. The stint continued through Central America on July 14 in Guatemala through El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

On Aug. 5, they performed at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot in Medellín, Colombia, for their only show in that country, where they had Maluma as their guest to perform the song “Cada Quien,” one of the many successful collaborations with which Grupo Firme helped put the regional Mexican genre on the global map.

On the Billboard charts, Grupo Firme reached No. 3 on Latin Airplay with “Que Onda Perdida” with Gerardo Coronel, which also topped the Regional Mexican Airplay chart for three weeks in July. Most recently, “El Amor De Su Vida” landed on the Billboard Global 200, where it debuted and peaked at No. 60 on the Aug. 19 chart.

On Oct. 5, Grupo Firme will compete for the Billboard Latin Music Award for tour of the year. To see the full list of 2023 finalists, click here.

Here Are 5 Things You Don’t Know About Tim McGraw | Billboard

Tim McGraw reveals five things you didn’t know about him to Billboard.

Tim McGraw:
Hi! I’m Tim McGraw, and here are five things you may not know about me.

I love potting flowers around my house. I spend each spring and each fall with all these terra-cotta pots we have around the house and I go to the plant nursery and buy all these flowers, and I plant all of them and spend the whole day doing it. It’s therapy. I love doing that.

And secondly, I’m a pilot. So I don’t know how many people know that.

Thirdly, one of my favorite things in the world to do is spear fish. Any chance I get to spear fish, I spear fish and I do it free dive with an old-fashioned pole spear. I haven’t been able to do it in a while, but that’s right at the top of my list and one of my favorite things to do.

I’m a crier. I cry at, like, bad commercials. I cry. I cry if I have to get up and speak and say something about anything or about talking about my kids or my wife. I’ll start crying. So I’m a I’m an easy crier.

Yacht rock. I am a huge yacht rock fan. I can sing every song when I listen to yacht rock. I’m a sucker for it. Hence, why I’m a crier.

Here’s Who Readers Chose as Their Favorite Rock Singer of All Time

The fans have spoken, and after a long voting process, one clear winner has come out on top as the ultimate fan-favorite rock singer.

Earlier this month, Billboard made a list of the 50 Greatest Rock Lead Singers of All Time — ranging from classic rock and alternative to grunge, punk and more — to see where some of the most memorable and iconic forces, dating as far back as the 1960s, rank for our staff. Following the list’s publication, Billboard asked fans which singer on the list is their favorite rock singer of all time. Now, we have a clear-cut winner.

Winning the poll with a whopping 67 percent of the vote, Journey‘s lead singer Steve Perry came out on top. And it’s no wonder why: Perry and his band created some of the most memorable hits of the late ’70s and early ’80s and have six top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 to their name, including “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which peaked at No. 9 in 1981.

Following at No. 2 is Paramore‘s Hayley Williams, who secured more than 27 percent of the vote. Williams easily secured the runner-up spot, with the remaining lead singers in the top five gaining anywhere between 1 to 2 percent of the votes.

Rounding out the third, fourth and fifth spots: Queen‘s Freddie Mercury, Fleetwood Mac‘s Stevie Nicks and Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington.

Eminem Demands GOP Candidate Ramaswamy Stop Using ‘Lose Yourself’ At Campaign Stops

Eminem is demanding that Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy stop using “Lose Yourself” on campaign stops — and he’s invoking the unique rules of BMI’s special “political entities” license to do so.

In a letter obtained by Billboard, BMI formally asked Ramaswamy’s campaign last week to stop using Eminem’s music, less than two weeks after the candidate was captured in a viral video rapping the lyrics to the smash hit song at an event in Iowa.

The letter alerted the campaign that Eminem had invoked his rights under BMI’s Political Entities License, which allows an artist to immediately withdraw their music from the more than 20 million songs made available to political campaigns under the blanket license.

“This letter serves as notice that the Eminem Works are excluded from the Agreement effective immediately,” the group wrote in the letter. “BMI will consider any performance of the Eminem Works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date forward to be a material breach of the agreement for which BMI reserves all rights and remedies.”

A spokesman for the Ramaswamy campaign could not immediately be reached for comment.

Top artists have long chafed at the use of their music by politicians, particularly conservatives. Foo Fighters and John Mellencamp blasted John McCain for using their music during the 2008 presidential election, while Neil Young, Guns N’ Roses, Pharrell, Rihanna and the estate of Tom Petty have all spoken out about their music being used at campaign events for Donald Trump.

Like any other group hosting large public gatherings, political campaigns pay ASCAP and BMI for blanket licenses to publicly perform copyrighted music — meaning candidates have automatic access to songs without ever directly contacting the musicians themselves. But, owing to repeated backlash, both ASCAP and BMI now offer special licenses for political entities, which allow artists to exclude individual songs from a particular campaign’s blanket deal.

It was this provision that was invoked by Eminem, according to BMI’s letter: “BMI has received a communication from Marshall B. Mathers, III, professionally known as Eminem, objecting to the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign’s use of Eminem’s musical compositions and requesting that BMI remove all Eminem Works from the Agreement.”

In the past, there had been some confusion about whether the existing ASCAP and BMI licenses held by venues themselves — hotels, convention centers, event spaces and so on — gave campaigns some legal cover to keep using disputed songs even after they had been withdrawn. Back in 2018, Axl Rose claimed that the Trump campaign was doing exactly that when it came to Guns N’ Roses songs.

“Unfortunately, the Trump campaign is using loopholes in the various venues’ blanket performance licenses, which were not intended for such craven political purposes without the songwriters’ consent,” Rose wrote in a tweet at the time.

But BMI’s rules now expressly avoid that problem, warning licensees that “a venue license does not cover events and functions hosted by political campaigns and organizations held at venues.”

“Political campaigns must obtain a BMI Political Entities License to authorize to use of the musical works, whether at a traditional location such as a hotel or convention center, or at a nontraditional location such as airport hangars or community fields, where political events take place,” BMI states on its website.

“40 Is Real”: Kevin Hart In Wheelchair After Racing Ex-NFL Player

HipHopWired Featured Video

Atlanta Earn vs Michael Vick

Source: FX / FX

So…

Do y’all remember the episode of Atlanta when Earn thought it was a good idea to enter a footrace against ex-NFL star Michael Vick only to realize that it was, well, not a good idea? Well, apparently, Kevin Hart either didn’t see that episode or didn’t learn anything from it.

And things turned out much worse for Kev.

“This is just a public service announcement because I know people may see me out and I don’t want you to be alarmed, but I’m in a wheelchair,” Hart said in a recent Instagram video. “Why? Because I tried to jump out there and do some young stuff.”

And what exactly was the “young stuff” the 44-year-old hurt himself doing? Apparently, he tried to race former New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley, who is 10 years Hart’s junior (and also a former professional athlete who literally ran for a living).

While attempting to run a 40-yard dash against Ridley, Hart reportedly tore his lower abdomen and abductors. Hart, of course, put his injury more on his age than he did the fact that he was trying to race a former NFL running back. (I mean, it’s right there in the name, people! RUNNING back!)

“Ladies and gentlemen, the age 40 is real…it’s not a game,” Hart said. “Respect that age—or that age will make you respect it. I was just forced to respect it…I tried to go out there and do some young man stuff and I was told to sit my ass down.”

Yeah, we get it, Kevin. You work out a lot and keep yourself in pretty good shape for a man in your mid-40s. Still, maybe set your sights a little lower next time. Be less physically ambitious. Race one of your age-appropriate friends who are not pro athletes.

At least Hart’s celeb friends are showing their support.

From HuffPost:

Hart joked that he at least beat his 34-year-old opponent to the punch by getting “this story out there before” him, and has already received a ton of support in the comments from Will SmithTracee Ellis Ross and frequent co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“I tore my abductor off my pelvis during a wrestling match,” wrote the former wrestler, who apparently suffered the same injuries during a 2013 match. “True story. You’ll be fine. You’ll grow a 3rd ball but you’ll be fine. Heal up.”

Yes, heal up, sir. And don’t do that again.
