Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey Bag Fourth No. 1 With ‘No Se Vale’ on Regional Mexican Airplay Chart

Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey capture their fourth champ on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart with “No Se Vale.” The group’s latest single rises 3-1 to lead the chart dated Sept. 16.

“No Se Vale” crowns Regional Mexican Airplay in its 10th week with 6.37 million audience impressions. That’s less than a 1% gain from the week prior, earned in the U.S. in the week ending Sept. 7, according to Luminate.

“No Se Vale” gives Edwin Luna and La Trakalosa their fourth No. 1 and first in almost two years, after the two-week coronation of “Saludos a Mi Ex” in March 2021. The group achieved its first Regional Mexican Airplay ruler through “Dormida” which dominated for three weeks in 2020. In total, Luna and La Trakalosa have placed nine top 10 entries dating back to 2017 when “Aplauso” reached its No. 4 high.

Beyond the new Regional Mexican Airplay No. 1, “No Se Vale” holds at No. 10 (its peak) on the overall Latin Airplay chart for a second week.

Mora’s Fourth Straight Top 10: Over on Top Latin Albums, Mora picks up his fourth straight top 10 with his fourth album, Estrella. The 15-track set, released via Rimas Entertainment on Aug. 28, advances 12-8 with 9,000 equivalent album units, up 19%, earned in the U.S. during the Sept. 1-7 tracking week.

As with most Latin rhythmic efforts, the bulk of Estrella’s activity comes from streaming equivalent album units. That figure equals to 12.2. million official U.S. on-demand streams of the album’s songs. Album sales and track-equivalent album units, meanwhile, account for the negligible remaining units.

Estrella follows three other top 10s, two No. 4-peaking sets which landed in 2022: While Microdosis endured for 33 weeks, Paraiso’s run completed after six weeks on Top Latin Albums.

Elsewhere, Estrella jumps 6-4 for a new peak on Latin Rhythm Albums. It also debuts at No. 167 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

As Estrella arrives, two songs debut on the Global charts. On Billboard Global 200, “Reina,” with Saiko, debuts at No. 149 after drawing 15.18 million global streams, while “Dónde Se Aprende a Querer” starts at No. 156 with 14.4 million worldwide streams. The former concurrently logged 13.7 international streams with a No. 87 start on Global Excl. U.S., while the latter launched at No. 99 with 12.62 streams outside the U.S.

UMG Nashville Launches Comedy Label, With Nate Bargatze’s New Album as Its First Release

Universal Music Group Nashville has launched a comedy label, with the first release coming from Nashville-based comedian Nate Bargatze.

Capitol Comedy Nashville will kick off with Bargatze’s Hello, World, out Friday (Sept. 15) on digital service providers (DSPs). The Grammy-nominated Bargatze has released several specials on streaming outlets, including Hello, World, which premiered on Amazon’s Prime Video earlier this year. Bargatze, who The Atlantic dubbed “the nicest man in stand-up,” recently sold out the Greek Theater in Los Angeles and drew more than 30,000 fans to his shows in Chicago.

“Country music and comedy have always had a throughline connecting lifestyle and culture, sharing stories and character habits through humor,” said UMG Nashville chair/CEO Cindy Mabe in a statement. “We’ve been forever linked going back to the early days of the Grand Ole Opry and classic country shows like Hee Haw where comedians shared billings with musical acts and helped us laugh at ourselves. As we are looking for further ways to reach audiences through storytelling, I feel there is no better time to re-link our comedy history together with the start of our new label, Capitol Comedy Nashville.

“Nate is an amazing storyteller who uses his own hysterical anecdotes from his life to connect with audiences everywhere,” Mabe continued. “Through his unassuming, self-deprecating humor, Nate has built an incredible fanbase with his stand-up comedy and he most recently broke attendance records in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena. We are so excited to welcome Nate to our label, and we can’t wait to grow the next era of storytelling through comedy.”

Bargatze intends to create an outlet for other comedians at Capitol Comedy Nashville.

“I have wanted to expand not only my comedy but also build a world with the many talented comedians I know,” he said. “This partnership is one of the first steps and I’m very thankful to have a guide and platform with Universal Music Group Nashville.”

Donald Glover’s ‘Lando’ Will Be a Film

Donald Glover’s Disney+ series is taking a new direction. Lando will now be developed as a Lucasfilm movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Glover played character Lando Calrissian in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, and his character quickly became a fan-favorite, prompting Disney to announce a spin-off series in the works in 2020. The artist was working on the project with his brother, Stephen Glover, before the writers strikes began in the spring, and he revealed on the Pablo Torres Finds Out podcast on Thursday (Sept. 14) that the duo are currently planning to make Lando a movie, though the plans are paused amid the ongoing strikes.

“I’m not interested in doing anything that is going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck,” Donald told GQ in April. “I would much rather spend time with people I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I’d like to hang out with. We’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say.”

In other Donald Glover news, the  39-year-old Atlanta actor joined Laverne Cox for E! News on the Golden Globes red carpet in January, where he revealed that music is on its way. “I’m making music right now. I love it,” he shared. “I’m in the studio, bringing people in, secret people, working on little things. I’ve just been making it for fun right now but soon something will happen, I promise.”

“I thought I heard you were retiring Childish Gambino,” Cox said, before Glover replied, “No, that was out in the ether. You don’t have to worry about that. He will be back.”

Glover’s last release as Childish Gambino was his fourth studio album, 3.15.20, which arrived back in March 2020.

Can Olivia Rodrigo Hook Up Fans With $20 Tickets Without Scalpers Getting In the Way?

Olivia Rodrigo is proving that artists don’t need expensive technology or a sprawling staff to make sure their lowest-priced tickets end up in the hands of fans — and not scalpers.

Ticket brokers were crawling around Rodrigo’s website on Wednesday (Sept. 13), assessing their odds of scoring tickets for the superstar’s freshly announced Guts World Tour, which kicks off in February at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, Calif. An early spring tour headlined by Rodrigo is a pretty good bet for ticket resellers based on the singer’s continued chart success: “Vampire,” the first single from her new album, Guts, is currently enjoying its 10th week on the Hot 100, while the set’s second single, “Bad Idea Right?”, debuted in the top 10 last month. Meanwhile, the album itself earned more than 126 million on-demand streams in its first four days of release. More importantly, her 2022 Sour trek was an underplay first run tour — Rodrigo had kept her ticket prices reasonable, averaging about $75 a ticket — that saw demand far exceed supply and drove prices into the stratosphere.

For Guts, Rodrigo is taking a simple, innovative step to protect what she is calling “Silver Star tickets,” a two-seat package she’s selling for $40 a pop to individuals her team can verify as fans.

Needless to say, scalpers will want to get in on that. A $20 ticket to a high-demand concert can generate a big markup and quick profits, especially compared to tickets priced between $50 to $200 — the price range for the Live Nation-booked tour. Tickets in the $50 to $200 range, meanwhile, will leave some room for markup on resale sites but make profitability less certain, especially on top-tier tickets.

To pull this off, like a game of cat and mouse, Rodrigo’s team must keep the Silver Star tickets out of scalper’s hands for the program to be a success. Few details about how this will work have been made public, but Rodrigo’s registration site hints that the singer’s team will directly select fans to participate. The real innovation, however, is a requirement that fans pick up their $20 tickets at will call on the night of the show; only then will they learn where their seats are located.

That’s not too different from how box offices used to use will call-only pick up to fight scalping, but where that strategy would typically aim to protect the most expensive tickets this time it’s being used on the cheapest. The limited number of tickets involved here will also help keep from overwhelming staff, whereas previously such a strategies became an unmanageable burden. Meanwhile, not knowing the section or row of a ticket makes it very difficult to sell it on secondary sales websites like StubHub, which requires scalpers to list tickets in the general vicinity of where they are located.

The plan isn’t fool-proof — when it comes to resellers, nothing is — but it places enough hurdles in front of scalpers that most will hopefully be deterred from taking advantage of a program that’s meant to get discount tickets into the hands of fans who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to see Rodrigo in concert. And if the strategy is successful, it’s easy to see it being duplicated by other artists, whose biggest frustration with ticketing tends not to be that their best seats are landing on the secondary market, but that seats affordable to their younger and less economically advantaged fans are ending up there too.

Kourtney Kardashian Says ‘I Miss My Husband’ After Travis Barker Returns to Blink-182 Tour

After an urgent pregnancy complication, Kourtney Kardashian is craving more time with her husband, Travis Barker.

In a Wednesday post on her Instagram Story, the Kardashians star shared a video of Barker drumming during a Blink-182 concert and wrote, “I miss my husband.” The feeling is mutual: On his own Instagram Story, Barker re-shared the video she posted and sweetly added, “I miss you my wife.”

Barker took time off of Blink’s tour after the band announced Sept. 1 that the band was postponing shows in Ireland and Scotland due to an “urgent family matter” that required the drummer to return to the United States immediately. Less than a week later, Kardashian shared further details about the situation via Instagram on Sept. 6, revealing that she needed an emergency surgery to save her and Barker’s unborn child.

“I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock,” she wrote. “As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”

Blink-182’s tour will continue in Europe with dates in Germany, Norway, Italy, Spain, Portugal and more before returning to the States this fall for the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-22.
