Ahead of the official drop, the NFL and OVO launched a campaign featuring Snoop representing the Pittsburgh Steelers, Birdman representing his hometown New Orleans Saints, and New York native Action Bronson representing his hometown New York Jets.

Most of the pieces are already out of stock at the NFL shop but there are still a few hoodies, beanies, hats, sweats available NFLShop.ca and a larger variety on the OVO website. Fans might also be able to find pieces on retail sites such as StockX.

The 10 Biggest Music Law Stories of 2023: #MeToo, AI, Ed Sheeran, Young Thug, Taylor Swift & More

Megan Thee Stallion agreed in October to settle a long-running legal battle against her former record label record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. The deal came after more than three years of bitter litigation stemming from her accusation that 1501 duped the young artist into signing an unfair record deal in 2018 that was well below industry standards. That cleared the way for her to sign a distribution deal with Warner Music in December.

Kesha and Dr. Luke reached a settlement in June to end a decade-long lawsuit accusing the pop star of defaming him in 2014 when she accused him of raping her in 2005. The agreement came on the eve of trial — and just a week after a New York court issued a key ruling that would have made it harder for Dr. Luke to win the case.

DJ Envy, the host of the popular Breakfast Club hip-hop radio show, was sued over the summer by dozens of investors who claimed he was complicit in an alleged multi-million-dollar real estate investment scam in New Jersey perpetrated by celebrity real estate guru Cesar Pina. Envy denied the allegations and said he too was a victim of the fraud. But when federal prosecutors indicted Pina in October for running a “Ponzi-like investment fraud scheme,” they specifically noted that Pina had “partnered with a celebrity disc jockey and radio personality” to boost his reputation.

– New state laws restricting drag performances were struck down as unconstitutional, first in Tennessee, then in Florida, and finally in Texas, each time on the grounds that they likely violate freedom of speech. Such statutes are nominally aimed at protecting children from obscenity, but critics say existing laws already do that and that the new legislation is instead a thinly veiled attack on the LGBTQ community. The new laws have been closely watched by the music industry over concerns that aspects of concerts could run afoul of broad new restrictions.

Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot during an argument, capping off three years of legal drama over the violent 2020 incident. The sentence came after Lanez was convicted on three felony counts at trial, a verdict that the singer is currently appealing.

– The two key remaining members of Journey — lead guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cainbattled in court over back-and-forth accusations related to band finances and a corporate American Express card. The lawsuit was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Journey’s internal dysfunction and legal issues, as detailed by Billboard’s Steve Knopper.

– A private feud between longtime members of the legendary rock band Mötley Crüe burst into public view in April when co-founder Mick Mars filed a lawsuit accusing his former “brothers” of tossing him to the curb after he said he could no longer tour due to a “tragic” disability called ankylosing spondylitis. The rest of Crüe, on the other hand, says they offered Mars “generous compensation” as a courtesy, but that he instead chose to file an “ugly public lawsuit.”

Nate Smith Is ‘On Fire’ With His Second Country Airplay Chart No. 1

Nate Smith earns his second consecutive career-opening No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart (dated Dec. 23) with “World on Fire.” The song increased by 9% to 29.8 million audience impressions Dec. 8-14, according to Luminate.

Smith co-authored the track with Ashley Gorley, Taylor Phillips and Lindsay Rimes, the lattermost of whom solely produced it.

“If you would’ve told me in 2018 that right now I’d be celebrating not my first but my second No. 1 at country radio, I wouldn’t have believed it,” Smith tells Billboard. “In December 2018, I was absolutely devastated from the fact that my hometown of Paradise, Calif., had just been destroyed by a fire. I had nothing left to my name, but friends and family came around and helped push me forward.”

Adds Smith, “I wanna say thank you to my passionate fans – it’s all about you.”

Smith scored early success on social media prior to signing to Sony Music Nashville’s Arista roster in November 2021. He presently boasts 1.6 million TikTok followers.

“World on Fire” is from the deluxe edition of Smith’s debut self-titled LP. The set arrived at its No. 6 high on Top Country Albums in May and has earned 653,000 equivalent album units to date. Smith first led Country Airplay with the set’s “Whiskey on You” for two frames in February.

Meanwhile, “World on Fire” is the 19th song to notch its first week at No. 1 on Country Airplay during 2023. Smith is the seventh artist to score multiple leaders this year, joining Luke Combs, Jelly Roll and Morgan Wallen, with three apiece, and Kane Brown, Lainey Wilson and Bailey Zimmerman, each with two.

Doing ‘All’ Right

Chris Janson nets his sixth Country Airplay top 10 as “All I Need Is You” rises to No. 9, up 6% to 17.2 million in audience. He last visited the tier with “Done,” which reigned for two weeks in August 2020, marking his second chart-topper. He first ruled with “Good Vibes” for a week in October. His breakthrough hit, “Buy Me a Boat,” cruised to No. 3 in September 2015.

That’s Pretty ‘Wild’

Luke Combs earns his 20th straight career-opening Country Airplay top 10 (counting only singles promoted to country radio), as “Where the Wild Things Are” pushes to No. 10 (16.6 million, up 16%). It joins Riley Green’s Combs-featuring “Different ‘Round Here,” which ranks at No. 8 (18.6 million, up 6%).

Carrie Underwood boasts the longest career-starting streak of Country Airplay top 10s, with 27 in 2005-18; after Combs’ 20, Tracy Lawrence now ranks third with 19 consecutive career-launching top 10s in 1992-97. Overall, Keith Urban has linked the longest such run: 38 straight top 10s in 2000-17.

Veteran actor and Emmy Award winner Andre Braugher’s cause of death has been revealed to be due to lung cancer.

The entertainment world has been sending their tributes to the late actor Andre Braugher, who died on Monday at his home in New Jersey. At the time, the cause of death for the veteran performer was not released to the public, with representatives only citing that he dealt with “a brief illness”. On Thursday (December 14), his publicist Jennifer Allen informed press outlets that Braugher’s death was due to lung cancer.

Braugher was known for adamantly keeping his private life private, only opening up about it in a thorough interview for the New York Times Magazine in 2014. In discussing his life away from the camera  (Braugher leaves behind his wife, actress Ami Brabson, and three sons along with brother Charles Jennings and his mother Sally Braugher), he stated that he had “stumbling blocks” and that he had given up smoking and drinking alcohol years beforehand. “I won’t go into details, but I have not always been at the top of my game, and that has a cost,” he said before remarking, “There won’t be a memoir.”

The 61-year-old Braugher was best known for his intense and stoic roles, getting his breakthrough in the 1989 drama Glory alongside Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman. From there, he went on to play Detective Frank Pembleton on Homicide: Life on the Street, the hit NBC police procedural by Barry Levinson that ran for seven seasons earning Braugher the first of his two Emmy Awards. He would be nominated 11 times overall, with four of them for his role as Captain Raymond Holt on the Fox and NBC comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The Chicago native was also an acclaimed theater actor who cherished Shakespearean roles.

His most recent role was as New York Times editor-in-chief Dean Baquet in She Said, the 2022 film focusing on journalists who broke the story of disgraced film executive Harvey Weinstein’s years of sexually abusing women. The family of Andre Braugher has asked that in place of flowers, donations should be made to the Classical Theater of Harlem, where he was vice chairman of the board. The theater’s Associate Artistic Director, Carl Cofield, shared a photo of himself with Braugher on Instagram, writing: “Andrè you were the light for so many of us.”

Explosion At Con Edison Leaves New Yorkers Without Power…For Seconds

Thursday (Dec. 14), just before midnight, New Yorkers noticed their lights suddenly flicker for no reason, and while many brushed it off as something in their home going haywire, it turns out that the issue was much bigger than anyone realized.

According to the Gothamist, a small explosion at a Con Edison substation in Brooklyn, New York, was responsible for the flickering lights across the boroughs. Though some homes only experienced a minor inconvenience, many other neighborhoods suffered blackouts for a few seconds before power came back on. That must’ve been hella scary for residents not knowing if it was 2003 all over again in which New York and other states in the Northeast went dark for an entire day.

Gothamist reports:

Con Edison blamed a “fault on a high-tension transmission line” for the five or 10-second outage that residents noticed just before midnight.

“Our crews are investigating and making necessary repairs,” the statement said.

NYPD officials said Con Edison workers were restoring a transmission line at a substation on John Street in DUMBO when a disruption occurred and caused power to surge.

No injuries were reported, and officials said the brief outage that followed did not disrupt essential services at hospitals.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the Con Edison blast. A few people, however, found themselves stuck in elevators at the time. Thank goodness for the fire department that handled those situations.

Tesla Issues Recall On 2 Million Of Its Vehicles In The U.S. Due To Autopilot Issue

Tesla’s reputation as a car manufacturer might be in jeopardy. The brand has just recalled 2 million automobiles due to software issues.

New York Magazine is reporting that the Austin, Texas, based company announced that it will be recalling select 2012-2023 and all Model S vehicles, 2016-2023 Model X vehicles, all model year 2017-2023 Model 3 vehicles, and all model year 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles. After a yearlong investigation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that the autopilot software can cause accidents due to driver misuse. Tesla denies that claim but has voluntarily offered customers free maintenance.

“In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, the prominence and scope of the feature’s controls may not be sufficient to prevent driver misuse of the SAE Level 2 advanced driver-assistance feature. At no cost to customers, affected vehicles will receive an over-the-air (OTA) software remedy” a press release from Tesla read.

Luckily, owners of the aforementioned vehicles will not have to visit a Tesla dealership for service. The brand will remedy the software issue via download. “Affected vehicles will receive an over-the-air software remedy, which customers can install at their convenience. The owner does not need to schedule a service appointment.”

Lastly, Tesla confirms that the vehicles are still safe to drive. Founder and CEO Elon Musk has yet to comment on the matter. You can read Tesla’s recall statement here.

Hear Exclusive Time Warp 2023 Sets From Sara Landry, Pan-Pot, Nina Kraviz & More

“I’ll never do New York. America is not ready.”

That’s what Steffen Charles, the owner of German techno festival Time Warp, told New York City dance event producer Rob Toma more than a decade ago, with Charles thinking the U.S. market wouldn’t quite understand the brand of dark, pummeling techno that’s been Time Warp’s signature since the festival launched in 1994.

But eventually, Charles had a change of heart, and Time Warp launched in NYC in 2014, bringing the pummeling, relentlessly heavy genre to a country then riding the wave of kandi-colored EDM boom.

Billie Eilish Teases She’s ‘Almost Done’ With Her Next Album

Billie Eilish fans should be happier than ever to learn that the 21-year-old pop star is closing in on finishing her third album.

Stopping by the Tonight Show Thursday (Dec. 14) — two days ahead of her return to Saturday Night Live — Eilish teased that she and her brother/producer Finneas are putting the final touches on her highly anticipated next record. “We are almost done with this new album we’re working on,” she told host Jimmy Fallon, putting her arms up to brace herself against the high-pitched screams she was immediately met with from the studio audience.

“So, at some point, you will know more, but I’m not going to say anymore now,” she added.

Without officially confirming, the “Bad Guy” artist also strongly hinted which song she plans to perform on SNL this weekend by pointing at her hat, which was emblazoned with the Barbie movie logo. Eilish contributed “What Was I Made For?” to the Greta Gerwig project’s soundtrack, scoring a No. 14 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.

“[Gerwig] was like, ‘I really want Barbie’s heart song,’” the Grammy winner recalled to Fallon of making the ballad with Finneas. “And that, like, stuck with us. That stayed with us.”

“I feel like [the song] brought women together in this way that I feel like I haven’t felt part of like that,” she continued. “It made me feel really good.”

Earlier this week, Barbie scored nine Golden Globe nominations – the most of any other project in the pool. The film is also responsible for three of the six total best original song nods, with “What Was I Made For?” in the running against “Dance the Night” by Dua Lipa and “I’m Just Ken” by Ryan Gosling.
