Nicki Nicole Hints At Peso Puma Breakup, Beyoncé & Taylor Swift Collab? & More | Billboard News

Nicki Nicole took to social media to seemingly hint at a breakup with Peso Pluma after he is seen with another woman in a viral video. Beyoncé was seen swarmed at New York Fashion Week. Her new country track “Texas Hold ‘Em” has caused a bit of drama after a country radio station in Oklahoma stated they will not be playing the track. Killah B, a co-writer on the track, hinted at a potential Taylor Swift feature on the Bey’s ACT II. Billboard Presents THE STAGE at SXSW will return this year with performances by PARTYNEXTDOOR, Christian Nodal and ILLENIUM. And more!

Nicki Nicole has some words for Peso Pluma, Beyoncé gets bombarded at that Fashion Week. We announced this year’s South by Southwest headliners at The Stage, and I sit down with the one and only Ziggy Marley. Happy Valentines Day, it’s Wednesday, February 14, I’m Tetris Kelly for Billboard News and love in the air, especially with the pop queens, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande are collabing on the “Yes And ?” remix out Friday, can’t wait for that. But unfortunately we do have to start today’s show off in a not so Valentine’s Day way. Nicki Nicole calls out Peso Pluma after he’s seen in Vegas with another woman.

Tetris Kelly
That Grammy moment where Peso and Nicki gushed about each other was just 10 days ago. One week later Peso Pluma was spotted in Vegas for the Super Bowl holding hands with another woman. Well Nicki Nicole saw that viral video too and took to IG to call her man out she said, “When you are not cared for and there’s no respect I don’t stay there. I leave it is with great sorrow that I found out the same way you all did.” Just days before the video surfaced Peso and Nicki were court side at the Lakers and kissing on the Grammys red carpet. Billboard reached out to Peso’s team for comment but have not heard back at time of recording.

Ziggy Marley Talks About ‘One Love’ Movie, Bob Marley’s Legacy & More | Billboard News

Ziggy Marley talks in depth about his involvement in the new bio-pic about his father, Bob Marley, ‘One Love,’ how he chose director Renaldo Marcus Green, stars Kingsley Ben-Adir and Lashana Lynch to play his father and mother Bob Marley and Rita Marley, filming the movie in Jamaica and giving back to the community, what he feels his father’s legacy is, his own music career, and more!

Ziggy Marley
You could be in the middle of it, if it ain’t right, we can’t mess with it, we can’t mess with it. We can’t mess with Bob, and we can’t mess with Jamaica. I’m Ziggy Marley, and this is Billboard News.

Tetris Kelly
Hey it’s Tetris with Billboard News and today I have the honor of hanging with Ziggy Marley talking about ‘One Love.’ How are you?

Ziggy Marley
Good man.

Tetris Kelly
Why was now the time to tell your father’s story?

Ziggy Marley
Yeah, it’s more than my father’s story really, like, carry a message with it. So is it, it talks about his life. But I think now is the time for this message of one love to be put into the global view for them, see them in billboards and watch it in a movie, this idea of one love, I think it’s a very important time and we’re in a very significant time in the world, we’re on the edge of something. So you know, the idea of one love is it’s pretty cool to have that out there. Right.

Tetris Kelly
And that is the overarching view of the film, obviously, it’s this one love and your dad’s story. How close were you to that story in the storytelling process?

Ziggy Marley
You know, we were there from the beginning, we were the one who initiated the idea to do the film on behalf of my family. And so it was the first time that we actually took the prerogative to go out and seek partners to do the film with telling the story how, we wanted to tell it, making sure it’s authentic. So we were very, very involved in it from the get go to the end. And the mean, even I mean, things were being changed in the last second scripts, like it was a, it was a community project. And it was just from the first time I’m doing a film project. But from the what we talked about with the guys who have the experience, they were like, this is like we’ve never done this in film before, like up to the last second we changing lines. And it was good. It was a good adventure.

LeBron James was recently seen turning up and reciting the lyrics to GloRilla’s latest cut “Yeah Glo!” in the Lakers locker room and while we didn’t know King James was such a fan of the up and coming female rapper, this should definitely garner her that much more attention.

Luckily for her, GloRilla recently dropped a visual for the aforementioned track and in her video to “Yeah Glo!” Rilla rolls through her old hood in a Maybach jeep while decked out in fur, diamonds and counting a stack while she talks her sh*t and while running into different versions of herself throughout her city. This was pretty dope.

On another side of the country, Skrilla and Lil Uzi Vert link up to show PA some brotherly love and in their clip for “Walking Dead” the two artists link up in the studio where they put pen to pad before laying down their vocals in the booth and rockin’ out to their sounds.

Bryan, who has been a judge on Idol since 2018, took his fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on an American Idol “field trip” to his hometown of Leesburg, Georgia (population 3,480 as of the 2020 census), located three hours south of Atlanta. In the process, the affable singer-songwriter brought Perry and Richie into the places and spaces that helped shape not only many of Bryan’s 26 No. 1 Country Airplay hits, but his charismatic stage presence and who Bryan is as a person.

“To be able to bring Lionel and Katy to my hometown was a real big deal,” Bryan tells Billboard via email. “Growing up I was a Lionel fan and he has been such a huge inspiration to my music. So now having Lionel and Katy as a friends, it was so special to show them how I grew up and what made me who I am. I was on 10 the whole day!”

Of course, Bryan has paid homage to his hometown throughout his career, most notably in the music video for “Born Here Live Here Die Here,” title track of his 2020 album. The video clip features both footage of the artist-writer’s energetic live shows, but also footage of Leesburg.

One of the stops on the Idol tour in Leesburg was a place Bryan spent ample time as a teen: Lee County High School, which he graduated from in 1996. The trio walked through the halls of the high school, and even dropped in on a few classes to greet students. “We took a lot of selfies and saw [the students’] excitement,” Bryan recalls. “The fact that we could disrupt their day, have fun and let them see us in the gym and walking the halls was great. It was really special to interact with the kids in that way.”

“The school felt bigger as more people have moved into the area, but the vibe still felt small and quaint,” adds Bryan. “They did win a state championship in football [in 2017 and 2018] since I went there, but the school still had the heart and soul that existed back then.”

Bryan also recalls his favorite memories of being at Lee High School, including Friday night football games, playing baseball during his freshman and sophomore years, and regular meetups after school at the local gas station to celebrates high school sports team wins (or commiserate on losses). Bryan had a high school band and was part of his school’s drama program, performing in Annie Get Your Gun, among other roles.

“The main thing was growing up in a small town where everybody knew each other,” he said. “The teachers looked after you and worked with you. It was just a great school to get a well-rounded education.”

Outside of Leesburg High School, Bryan took Richie and Perry to one of his favorite fishing spots, along the Flint River. Bryan’s fans will instantly recognize the name of the 344-mile river that runs from south of Atlanta through the Gulf Coastal Plain, as Bryan immortalized it in songs like “That’s My Kind of Night,” “We Rode in Trucks” and “Huntin,’ Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”

“We only fished briefly as the conditions weren’t great that day, but the river was a place where I grew up fishing as a kid, so it was good to have them get out in nature that day,” he says. “I think they appreciated it and saw that the river was instrumental and inspirational in my songwriting.”

Bryan grew up helping at his family’s peanut mill, so he took joy in showing his fellow judges a local peanut mill–and the visit made for a cool moment with fellow judge Perry.

“Some of my favorite moments were definitely talking Lionel and Katy to the peanut mill, and letting Katy dump a wagon of peanuts and watching the dust fly up,” Bryan says.

Priscilla Presley Faces Lawsuit Claiming She Betrayed Biz Partner Who Prevented ‘Financial Ruin’

Priscilla Presley is facing a lawsuit that claims she illegally turned her back on a former business partner who had helped her “dig herself out of impending financial ruin” and played a key role in getting the recent Priscilla movie made.

The lawsuit, filed last year and obtained by Billboard, claims that Elvis Presley’s ex-wife partnered with a woman named Brigitte Kruse in 2022 to help develop and monetize her name and likeness rights — a move that came as Presley was allegedly “60 days from insolvency” and facing $700,000 in unpaid tax debt.

But Kruse claims that in August 2023, Presley and two new advisors suddenly sent her a cease-and-desist letter and “cut off all communication” with her former partner. She claims the sudden about-face came as her extensive and time-consuming efforts on Presley’s behalf were finally paying off.

Trending on Billboard

“Though [Kruse’s company] was integral to the Priscilla movie, all individuals other than Priscilla were excluded from the premiere of the Priscilla Movie at the Venice Film Festival,” reads the October lawsuit, which was first reported Wednesday (Feb. 14) by Daily Beast.

In court filings since the case was first filed, Presley’s lawyers have pushed the dismiss the lawsuit. They argue that Kruse “targeted” their client and that Priscilla split with her former partner because she had discovered that Kruse was “attempting to misappropriate Ms. Presley’s assets.”

Formally, the case against Priscilla was filed by a company called Priscilla Presley Partners, a corporate entity created by Kruse and Presley to commercially exploit Priscilla’s name, image and likeness (known as NIL). According to the lawsuit, the entity is 51% owned by Kruse and 49% owned by Presley.

The lawsuit claims that it was Presley who first approached Kruse to help run her affairs — a role Kruse accepted even though it required her to give up her existing career and “devote her attention full-time to managing Pricilla’s life.” After allegedly discovering that Presley’s “financial position was far worse than expected,” the lawsuit claims Kruse and a colleague named Kevin Fialko immediately “sprang into action to prevent Priscilla’s financial ruin and public embarrassment.”

“Because of the upcoming movie about Priscilla’s life … Kruse (and Fialko) began arranging for engagements for Priscilla to allow her to dig herself out of impending financial ruin (and the potential negative public ramifications of the same), and engaging professionals to keep creditors at bay,” the lawsuit reads.

But according to the lawsuit, the partnership came undone after the intervention of Keya Morgan, a former manager for Marvel Comics founder Stan Lee who was acquitted in 2022 on criminal charges that he stole more than $200,000 in proceeds of memorabilia sales from Lee before his 2018 death.

The lawsuit claims that Morgan “professed to be a friend of Priscilla’s” and said he wanted to assist in Kruse and Priscilla Presley Partners’ efforts to monetize her likeness, but that shortly after he became involved, the partnership was thrown into chaos.

“The next day, [an attorney] sent Kruse a letter, purportedly on behalf of Priscilla personally, alleging various misconduct, such as falsely alleging that Kruse had attempted to sell Priscilla’s home, and demanding that Kruse cease and desist immediately, any and all activity on behalf of Ms. Presley,” the lawsuit reads.

The lawsuit claims that Presley’s actions have breached the contract that she signed with Kruse when they created the entity, which was allegedly drafted by Presley’s own lawyer.

“In reliance on the agreements defendant voluntarily entered into, plaintiff has devoted substantial time and capital into increasing the value of defendant’s NIL” Priscilla Presley Partners’ lawyers say. “When defendant’s NIL and earning capacity is at its highest that it has been in decades, defendant, without notice, cut off Plaintiff’s ability to exploit that NIL for her sole benefit.”

In the months since the case against Presley was first filed, her attorneys hit back with their own version of events.

In a November motion to dismiss the case, Presley’s lawyers say Kruse “targeted” their client and “inserted herself” into her affairs, and had somehow “convinced” Priscilla to sign an agreement where she was only a minority owner of her own NIL rights. And they say the sudden split came about because of Kruse’s own improper actions, not because of any other cause.

“Eventually, Ms. Presley learned that Ms. Kruse and her associate were attempting to misappropriate Ms. Presley’s assets and were engaging in other acts of wrongdoing,” Presley’s lawyers wrote in a November response. “Thus, Ms. Presley began extricating herself from Ms. Kruse’s various entanglements. In response, Ms. Kruse … utilized her control of [Priscilla Presley Partners] to orchestrate and file this Florida lawsuit.”

In technical terms, Presley’s lawyers are seeking to toss out the case on far simpler grounds: That she has no connections to the Florida county where Priscilla Presley Partners filed the lawsuit, meaning the court lacks jurisdiction to hear it.

A hearing on Presley’s motion to dismiss is scheduled for May. Neither side immediately returned a request for comment on Wednesday. Morgan, who was not named as a defendant or accused of any wrongdoing, could not immediately be located for comment.

Clara Bow’s Family Reacts to Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Song Named After Late Actress

When Taylor Swift unveiled the tracklist to The Tortured Poets Department, shortly after announcing the album at the 2024 Grammys, one song title in particular captured fans’ attention: “Clara Bow.”

Clearly named after the famous silent film actress, who passed away in 1965 at age 60, “Clara Bow” already has people asking questions — including Bow’s descendants. In a Wednesday (Feb. 14) interview with People, the icon’s great-granddaughters Nicole Sisneros and Brittany Grace Bell revealed they were just as mystified as everyone else to see their great-grandmother’s name at No. 16 on the Tortured Poets song listing.

“[During her Grammy speech Swift] said she was working on this the past two years,” Sisneros told the publication. “[We] just want to know what prompted it and where the connection is coming from.”

Trending on Billboard

As lifelong Swifties, Sisneros and Bell say they’re equally excited and intrigued. “We could not believe it,” said Sisneros, who took her daughter to an Eras Tour show last year, of finding out the pop star had penned a track in Bow’s honor. “No one from our family has been contacted or knew about this prior. We found out via the Instagram post like everybody else.”

“They’re both pioneers in their field,” Bell added. “Clara Bow was one of the first really big movie stars and had to pave a way. She just had that larger-than-life presence on screen and was able to portray any role.”

“Her tenacity to focus on her career [is] very similar to Taylor,” agreed Sisneros, pointing out the two women’s shared grace in the face of public scrutiny.

Sisneros and Bell aren’t the only ones to have found parallels between the “Anti-Hero” singer and It actress. Swifties have been dissecting the track list’s possible meanings since it dropped earlier this month, with many theorizing that Bow’s relationship with husband Rex Bell and status as a silent film star mirror Swift’s 2023 breakup from Joe Alwyn.

Bell added, “I think Clara Bow would feel the same kinship and protectiveness over someone who’s of the same level of fame as her in dealing with the media and how heavy the crown is to carry.”

The Tortured Poets Department arrives April 19.
