Future & Metro Boomin’s ‘We Don’t Trust You’: All 17 Tracks Ranked

Young Metro and Pluto connect for the first portion of their anticipated double-album.

We should’ve put the pieces together during the rollout. Future and Metro Boomin both in suits like the Reservoir Dogs, meeting up in the desert as a Prodigy clip plays. This project has always been about addressing their fractured relationship with the rap game and other rappers — mainly Drake — while also reminding the game that Future is in the conversation as one of the absolute best of this era. There’s also Metro’s place in all of this. Since 2018’s NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES, he has continued to raise the bar as far as his production goes. He’s entering another stratosphere, and is starting to establish himself as rap’s top producer.

This entire project feels like a movie in audio form. Every beat is cinematic, and the late, great Prodigy serves as its unflappable narrator, steady reminding us what this rap thing is really about: competition. It’s also a nice coincidence that this project was released the same week as the 41st anniversary of hip-hop’s seminal motion picture masterpiece, Wild Style. WE DON’T TRUST YOU is 17 tracks long and there are no skips. This is a ride best taken at dusk, as the sun starts to disappear behind the horizon.

We tried to rank every track while breaking everything down, mere hours after this album melted our brains with all the haymakers being thrown over some of the best beats your ears have heard this year. These are two artists at the very top of their craft, providing rap fans art and history in real time. We’ll be talking about this record for a long time — and the duo supposedly dropping another tape soon.

Check out our rankings below while we run this album back again.

Eras Tour Openers Girl in Red & Sabrina Carpenter Team Up on ‘You Need Me Now?’: Stream It Now

Two of Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour openers collide on “You Need Me Now?,” the new single from Girl in Red and Sabrina Carpenter set to appear on the former’s upcoming album I’m Doing It Again Baby.

On the uptempo, rock-infused pop track released Friday (March 22), the 25-year-old “We Fell in Love in October” artist — born Marie Ulven — laments over an ex that constantly leads her on. “Don’t tell me you need me now/ You got your feelings back,” she rants. “I’ve heard it before/ I’m tired of waiting around/ Letting you let me down/ I’m done being yours.”

Mid-song, she pauses singing to say, “You know what would be really f—ing cool on this? Sabrina — like, if we could get Sabrina on this, oh my God.”

“Oh my God, you’re so right,” enters Carpenter before diving into the song’s bridge. “I’m gonna sing now.”

Both Ulven and Carpenter shared the track on their Instagram Stories, with the 24-year-old Girl Meets World alum writing, “i <3>

The Norwegian singer-songwriter and Carpenter are linked through their respective stints on Swift’s global Eras trek, which kicked off in March 2023. Girl in Red joined the pop star in June for shows in Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis, while the “Feather” singer played support for the tour’s Latin America, Australia and Singapore legs.

Carpenter’s latest album Emails I Can’t Send arrived in summer 2022, debuting at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 that July. Ulven’s debut record If I Could Make It Go Quiet peaked at No. 67 on the chart in 2021.

Beyoncé’s Publicist Knocks Erykah Badu’s Copycat Claims

The esteemed publicist for Beyoncé fired back at Erykah Badu recently over claims the superstar copied a style of hers for the Cowboy Carter release.

There might be a slight bit of beef down in the heart of Texas as Erykah Badu feels that the latest artwork release by Beyoncé for her upcoming album, Act II: Cowboy Carter, took from her own style. It began as Beyoncé shared artwork for the limited edition version of her release. The photograph shows the singer in the nude, standing tall while draped in a banner emblazoned with “Act II Beyoncé” (an homage to her mother Tina Knowles’ maiden name) with a lit cigar while wearing a hairstyle of long braids.

The image didn’t sit well with Erykah Badu, who posted the image on her Instagram Stories with a simple caption of “Hmmm.” The “Window Seat” artist added a little bit more shade with another post on the social media platform, which featured a photo of her rocking a braided hairstyle with white translucent beads which she pinned to the top of her grid. The 53-year-old artist flaunted the hairstyle last month during her birthday concert in Dallas.

The message wasn’t lost on the legion of Beyoncé fans known as the BeyHive, and they promptly let her know in the comments of the post. “No disrespect Beyoncé not trying to copy you, and on top of that, it’s a damn hairstyle that has been around in the Black community for a while!!” one user wrote. Yvette Noel-Schure – who’s worked extensively with Beyoncé for 20 years – laid down the definitive word with her own social media post, a montage reel of the superstar’s looks from her rise with Destiny’s Child to now, including her Lemonade album cover where she also famously wore braids. “She slays. She slays. Now. Then. Always.” Noel-Schure captioned the post.

The reaction did prompt a somewhat comical response from Erykah Badu, this time in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “To Jay Z . Say somethin’, Jay. You gone let this woman and these bees do this to me ??” she wrote. There hasn’t been any response yet by Jay-Z or Beyoncé. Act II: Cowboy Carter will be released March 29.

Selena Gomez’s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Reboot Gets the Green Light: See the First Look Photo

Magic is officially in the making at Disney’s studios, as the entertainment company has announced its decision to move forward with Selena Gomez and David Henrie’s Wizards of Waverly Place reboot proposal two months after placing the initial pilot order.

The Rare Beauty founder confirmed the news on Instagram Stories on Friday (March 22), sharing a sneak-peek photo of her and Henrie on the new set. “Guess what?!” she wrote. “WE GOT PICKED UP FOR SEASON 1!”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production will begin next month in Los Angeles, and the show will premiere at some point this year on both Disney+ and Disney Channel. Gomez and Henrie, who played magical siblings Alex and Justin Russo on the original Wizards, will reprise their rolls and serve as executive producers on the reboot.

Trending on Billboard

Though the “Love On” singer is confirmed to make an appearance in the first episode, it sounds as though Henrie’s character will lead the majority of the show as Dad to sons Milo, played by Max Matenko, and Roman, portrayed by Alkaio Thiele. More than a decade after the original Wizards wrapped in 2012, Justin Russo is also a married man; his wife, Giada, will be brought to life by Mimi Gianopulos.

Also part of the cast is Janice LeAnn Brown, who will play a powerful young wizard named Billie. When Alex brings Billie to meet Justin, he must re-immerse himself in the magical world he left behind in pursuit of a normal family life to mentor her.

Along with Gomez and Henrie, former Disney Branded Television head Gary Marsh and director Andy Fickman are on board to produce, as are the pilot’s writers, Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. The project marks the latest in a series of nostalgia-backed children’s show reboots, following Nickelodeon’s iCarly, Zoey 101 and the now-scrapped Lizzy McGuire update.

Gomez first announced that she was making her grand return to Disney in January, when the Wizards reboot was first given the go-ahead to shoot a pilot. “So excited!!” she wrote on Instagram Stories at the time. “WE’RE BACK.”

Raphael on Whether He Would Dabble in Urbano Music: ‘You Never Know’

He’s known on both sides of the Atlantic for traditional Latin pop classics such as “Yo Soy Aquel” and “En Carne Viva.” But Raphael, one of Spain’s most celebrated vocalists internationally with over six decades of career, doesn’t rule out the possibility of venturing into urbano music.

“I know it’s not my thing, because I don’t know how to do anything else. But you never know,” says the 80-year-old artist. “Maybe I’ll say ‘I’m gonna try doing this to see what happens.’ That was the case with ‘Escándalo’, and look how far it got,” he added about his 1992 Caribbean-flavored hit, which spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.

Raphael made these comments this week at the first first Forum on Spanish Language Music in Madrid, presented by the Community of Madrid and powered by Billboard, which took place on Tuesday (March 19) at the WiZink Center in the Spanish capital. He was the star of the Icon panel moderated by Leila Cobo, Billboard‘s Chief Content Officer for Latin/Español.

When Cobo asked him what he thought of Latin urban music, Raphael said that “like all music, there are salvageable things and less salvageable things, there are things that have grace. But I would give it some time, because it is in full bustle now,” he continued. “We have to give it time to see where all this ends up.”

And, with his characteristic humor, he answered whether he would like to collaborate with any urbano artist: “Maybe yes! Maybe someone will call me today!”

During the conversation, the Spanish superstar also spoke about the moment he knew that being an artist was his thing, the role of songwriter Manuel Alejandro as the “tailor” of his career, the process of his globalization and why he doesn’t plan to retire anytime soon.

“I don’t see myself doing nothing, with so many things that can be done and so many theaters and places to go, and so many countries to revisit, where I have been loved so much for so long. I prefer to be active,” he said. “So, as long as this one responds, I’m going to be singing,” he added pointing to his vocal cords.

“Obviously I am aware that someday I will have to stay at home, but the later the better. And if it can be when I leave for good, then let me take advantage of the exit,” he added with a laugh. “It’s not about wanting more, it’s about doing what you are passionate about every single day.”

MGM Resorts Debunks Bruno Mars Owes $50M In Gambling Debt Rumor

Last week, social media was buzzing after NewsNation “reported” that Pop/R&B sensation Bruno Mars had racked up more than $50 million in gambling debt at MGM casinos and that a large portion of that debt is being paid off with money Mars earned during his residency at Park MGM in Las Vegas.

After the news was reported, the interwebs were flooded with memes, gifs and everybody’s opinion on Mars’ apparent gambling addiction. Shannon Sharpe even started dishing about a story he heard about the “Talking to the Moon” singer losing nearly $2 million after a single night of gambling.

Well, it turns out that the Silk Sonic member may not be a victim of his own gambling impulses, but he might be a victim of bad journalism. According to MGM Resorts International, none of the rumors about Mars’ outstanding debt are true.

“We’re proud of our relationship with Bruno Mars, one of the world’s most thrilling and dynamic performers. From his shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM to the new Pinky Ring lounge at Bellagio, Bruno’s brand of entertainment attracts visitors from around the globe,” MGM said in a statement to People. “MGM and Bruno’s partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect. Any speculation otherwise is completely false; he has no debt with MGM. Together, we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

Since the company doesn’t have any discernable reason to lie about Mars not owing it money, it seems pretty safe to say this is yet another example of why folks can’t just believe every headline they read in their news feeds.
From People:
A source had claimed to NewsNation that MGM “basically owned” Mars after he allegedly racked up millions in gambling debt with the hospitality and entertainment company.
The outlet also claimed that Mars made $90 million a year from his residencies at MGM, but the singer was using a large amount of that to pay the company back.
“[He will] only make $1.5 million per night after taxes,” NewsNation claimed.
Mars’ began his partnership with MGM in 2016, leading to his Park MGM residency. This year, his Pinky Ring cocktail bar opened at MGM’s Bellagio Resort & Casino.
So, it sounds like Bruno Mars is doing fine, and there are some entertainment media outlets out there that really need to do better at checking their facts before rushing to put a juicy celebrity story out.

Iván Cornejo:
I was s—ting bricks. I was so scared. It was really fun. It was good nervous, you know?

Hey, what’s up, guys? It’s Iván Cornejo, and you’re watching Billboard News. I felt nice. You know, Houston is like my second home. Like, my first show was here in Houston. Half the crowd was my family and the other 12 people, you know, just fans. It feels nice to just come back two years later and just you know, do the Houston rodeo which was insane for me.

It’s a beautiful feeling. Houston just has always showed me so much love. It feels nice knowing that, like, a lot of people who came to see me tonight.

I was s—ting bricks. I was so scared. It was really fun. It was good nervous. Yeah, it’s insane. It’s scary. Um, you know, I’m still slowly building up my confidence. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

I’ve been in like the smallest venue you can think of, and I’m was more scared of the stadium. But hearing the fans sing your songs just gives you a lot of confidence. And it just definitely made me feel a lot better when I heard people singing.

'Undawn' The Zombie Survivor Game Featuring Will Smith Flopped

Even Will Smith wasn’t enough to prevent this video game from flopping like his film Wild Wild West.

Undawn, the zombie survival game featuring Will Smith, bombed epically, according to a report from Reuters. The website reported that the game was a “key” in-house project at Tencent and “flopped spectacularly” even with Smith’s involvement and the game’s closet to 1 billion yuan (around $140 million).

We first reported on the game’s existence in May 2023. Before its June launch, 2.3 million people pre-registered to play it. That didn’t matter, as the game didn’t meet expectations.

In the game, which eerily resembles Smith’s film I Am Legend, the actor plays Trey Jones and serves as your guide in the game.

It was billed as a free-to-play mobile and PC game, as well as these other features:

  • Base construction and survival mechanics
  • An expansive open-world
  • Vehicular combat
  • Customization elements
  • PvPvE platform

Per Reuters, through research firm Appmagic reporting, Undawn only brought in $287,000. The game’s poor performance resulted in Tencent shifting strategy in its mobile division, canceling a mobile game based on Square Enix’s Nier franchise and delaying the Assassin’s Creed: Jade mobile game.

News of the game’s flopping has taken many by surprise, with many people saying they didn’t even know it existed.

One person on X, formerly Twitter, wrote, “…there was a Will Smith-fronted zombie survival game called Undawn?”

“I’m not shocked as someone who’s only just hearing about The Will Smith-fronted zombie survival game Undawn,” another X user wrote.

Well, we knew. We just thought people didn’t care.

In the gallery below, you can see more reactions to Will Smith’s game, Undawn, flopping.

[…] I never thought in a million years I’d be in the White House. Then, I was in the White House and got to meet the President and Vice President? I was like, ‘Now, they can’t mess with me!’”

Journalist Laura Coates then read a text from Glo’s mother that read: “I’ve come with being the woman with a bunch of kids, living in a blue house with no furniture in Frayser to the classiest, most beautiful, and most talented rapper of this generation’s mom who’s moved on up to a beautifully furnished house. Get ’em, Glo!”

In response, the rapper shared, “It meant everything to me, because we really did come from absolutely nothing. […] It was just a proud moment for my mama. That’s one of the reasons that I be more happy about my accomplishments because of how proud my mama and daddy be.”

It seems Hot 97 is looking to switch up their programming. The legendary radio station is reportedly giving Nessa’s afternoon slot to Funk Flex.

Page Six is reporting that the broadcasting company will be making some changes to their daily schedule. The celebrity news site says that two of their biggest names will be doing a switch. According to one of their unnamed sources, Funk Flex will soon be manning the station’s famed 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. slot. This drive time spot is currently held by Nessa, who is reportedly “upset” on how the move was handled. “Hot 97 executives didn’t even respect her enough to call her directly about the changes, but informed her team of the change, leaving Nessa feeling blindsided,” the source said.

“Nessa has accomplished a lot [broadcasting] so to move her to nights is not only disrespectful but it would totally interrupt spending time with her child,” the insider added. “She is really upset about the time switch and is looking into ways to keeping her schedule as is after all it is what she signed up for.” After Angie Martinez announced her departure in 2014, Nessa was announced as her replacement in 2015. According to Nielsen, Nessa On Air is ranked No. 1 within the 18-34 age group.

As expected, the news of the switch landed on Flex’s radar. He took to Instagram to dismiss the hearsay.

“@NYPOST WOAH? THAT INFO AINT 100 PERCENT ACCURATE? ??????! UMMMMMM? ME AND NESSA ROLLING TOGETHER! COULD IT BE THAT SOMEONE ELSE IS TIGHT? (YOU THINK WE DONT SEE U?) he wrote. Additionally, the famed DJ shared a video of him and Nessa having lunch with the rest of the staff.

Hot 97 has yet to formally address the speculation.
