Heart and Jimmy Fallon Perform ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ For Partial Eclipse: Watch

On a day when America looked up at the heavens, late night TV kept our eyes glued to the screens for an all-heart performance.

Late Monday, April 8, Heart, the Rock Hall-inducted band, teamed up with Jimmy Fallon for a performance of Bonnie Tyler’s ‘80s hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” an amusing, hearty tribute to the solar eclipse that captured the attention of millions across North America.

“We have a special show tonight, Heart is out musical guest and today is, obviously, the solar eclipse. So we thought we have to do what we have to do, we have to sing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart,’” Fallon says at the top.

The musical performance was captured from the rooftop at 30 Rockefeller Center as the Moon passed between the Earth and the Sun, and briefly blotted out our star.

Fallon, flanked by the Wilson sisters, wore the appropriate shades and a throwback public school uniform from Russell Mulcahy’s official music video for “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” which originally led the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks back in 1983.

The late night host teased the spot and shared a behind-the-scenes photo Monday afternoon, ahead of the rare cosmic moment.

At up to 4 minutes and 28 seconds, the total eclipse was lengthier than the one that caught the eyes of Americans back in 2017, which maxed out at 2 minutes and 42 seconds.

On this occasion, New Yorkers witnessed a partial solar eclipse peak at 3:25 pm, according to NASA.

Fallon is celebrating his own special moment, the 10-year milestone as host of his very own late night show. To celebrate, NBC will broadcast a two-hour primetime anniversary special on Tuesday, May 14.

Heart wasn’t done with pumping up the audience. The rockers returned, this time in the NBC studios for a rendition of their 1977 classic “Barracuda.” The north American Royal Flush tour will follow, kicking off April 20 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena Greenville, SC. The Libertines Heading For First U.K. No. 1 Album In 20 Years

The Libertines are on target for the U.K. albums chart title, their first in 20 years.

Based on midweek sales and streaming data tallied by the Official Charts Company, the critically adored indie-rock outfit takes the lead with All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade (via EMI), their fourth studio album.

The British act, comprising Carl Barât, Pete Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell, opened their chart account with their celebrated 2002 debut Up The Bracket (peaking at No. 35), then, following a tide of glowing features in the music press, hit No. 1 with their eponymously-titled sophomore album from 2004. Their 2015 comeback album, Anthems For Doomed Youth, also cracked the top 10, peaking at No. 3.

All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade leads an all-new top 4 on the chart blast.

Coming in at No. 2 on the midweek tally is British band The K’s debut LP I Wonder If The World Knows? (LAB), while U.S. singer and songwriter Conan Gray is predicted to complete the podium with Found Heaven (Island), which features production from Swedish maestro Max Martin. It’s new at No. 3 on the Official Chart Update.

Meanwhile, British indie rock veterans Feeder is targeting an 11th top 10 appearance with Black/Red (Big Teeth), new at No. 4 on the chart blast, while U.S. blues-rockers the Black Keys’ could snag a sixth U.K. top 10 with their 12th record Ohio Players (Nonesuch), new at No. 6 on the chart blast.

J. Cole has been in the headlines of late. The U.S. rapper and songwriter surprise-dropped Might Delete Later (Interscope) last week, which included a Kendrick Lamar diss track, “7 Minute Drill,” a track he promptly apologized for. Might Delete Later might start at No. 7, based on midweek data, and should collect a third top 10 for Cole following 2018’s KOD (No. 2) and 2021’s The Off-Season (No. 2).

Finally, a string of recording are poised for top 40 berths. Among them, releases from Khruangbin (A LA SALA at No. 8 via Dead Oceans), Vampire Weekend (Only God Was Above Us at No. 9 via Columbia), Bob Vylan (Humble As The Sun at No. 11), Benson Boone (Fireworks & Rollerblades at No. 16 via Warner Records), Hawkwind (Stories From Time And Space at No. 20 via Cherry Red), Palace (Ultrasound at No. 22 via Fiction), Bryson Tiller (Bryson Tiller at No. 28 via Relentless), and Cock Sparrer (Hand On Heart at No. 33 via Cherry Red).

All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published late Friday, April 12.

Dame Dash will have to seek new legal representation. His lawyers have served him resignation papers due to unpaid fees.

HotNewHipHop is reporting that the Harlem, New York, native’s debts continue to increase. Last week, Felton T. Newell and Justin H. Sanders, Esqs., of Sanders Roberts LLP formally abandoned their positions as the lawyers on record for the media mogul. The reasons they cited included “breach of contractual obligations to the firm” and claimed Dame Dash “failed to fulfill their financial obligations under their retainer agreement, resulting in the firm initiating an enforcement action against them.”

The firm was representing Dame Dash in his court battle against Monique Bunn. Back in 2023, the photographer claimed he sexually assaulted her but he was eventually cleared of any wrong doing.  According to documents obtained by HipHopDX, she has since requested that the case be reopened citing the jury did not understand the gravity of the damages she suffered. Bunn also states that she was not compensated for her work and that Dame Dash.

“The evidence at trial – which was uncontroverted – established that each photo was worth $1,500, which should have resulted in a verdict for at least $384,750,000,” the 285-page document read. “It is well known that professional photographers earn much of their income through licensing their portfolio of photographs, and Defendants’ actions destroyed Ms. Bunn’s economic prospects. The jury ignored the valuation evidence and awarded zero to Ms. Bunn.”

Dame Dash has yet to formally respond to the matter. You can read through the lawyer’s notice of resignation below.

Spotify Introduces AI Playlist Feature Allowing Users to Turn Concepts Into Personalized Mixes

Spotify has launched a new AI playlist feature for premium users in the United Kingdom and Australia, the company revealed in a blog post on Sunday (April 7).

The new feature, which is still in beta, allows Spotify users in those markets to turn any concept into a playlist by using prompts like “an indie folk playlist to give my brain a big warm hug” or “a playlist that makes me feel like the main character.” The tool builds off of Spotify’s other recent features that focus on personalization and interactivity, like AI DJ and Daylist. Daylist, in particular, has found popularity among the streaming service’s Gen Z users who often post the wacky titles Daylist generates to their social media accounts.

These more personalized tools are a complement to Spotify’s editorial playlist offerings, which have been a defining part of the platform’s user experience since the 2010s. They also build off the legacy of its personal, shareable end-of-year Spotify Wrapped campaign.

AI Playlist can iterate a list of songs based on a user’s references to places, animals, activities, movie characters, colors and emojis, but it cannot respond to current events or specific brands. The company also notes that it has measures in place around text prompts to keep offensive language and ideas out of AI playlists.

The AI playlist feature can be found on Spotify’s iOS and Android apps under “Your Library,” where users can tap the “+” button at the top right corner and select “AI Playlist.”

“At Spotify, we aim to deliver the right piece of music for that exact moment in time,” reads the blog post. “With AI Playlist in beta, we’re excited to give Premium subscribers in the U.K. and Australia a new way to discover music. Over the coming months, we look forward to continuing to iterate on this new feature to best serve our listeners.”

Calvin Harris’ Wife Says She Listens to Taylor Swift When He Isn’t Around

Vick Hope is a Swiftie, despite her husband’s history with Taylor Swift.

Calvin Harris’ wife shared on her BBC Radio 1 show Going Home with Vick, Katie and Jamie on Monday (April 8) that she listens to the DJ’s ex-girlfriend when he’s not around. “As soon as my husband goes away, I listen to Taylor Swift,” she admitted. “That’s just when I get my little fill — just a little fill, just a couple of songs, get it out of my system and then it’s done.”

Harris and Hope first started dating in early 2022, and were engaged by the end of the year. They tied the knot in September 2023 in a tent on the grounds of Hulne Priory, Alnwick, Northumberland. “You know what, I was very overwhelmed by the interest in it, but I’m keeping my private life private,” Hope previously told Hello! Magazine about their relationship. “I’ve never really experienced this before about my private life, but it’s just for us.”

Swift and Harris, dated for nearly a year and a half back in 2015. In July 2016, it was revealed that Swift secretly co-wrote Harris’ hit “This Is What You Came For” under a pseudonym. Once the news broke, Harris launched a string of (since-deleted) angry tweets, claiming that Swift was trying to “tear” him down.

Yung Miami & JT Exchange Threats Over Sneak Disses: ‘You’re Really Losing It’

There looks to be trouble in paradise for the City Girls. JT and Yung Miami were entrenched in a heated social media exchange on Monday (April 8).

Miami publicly called out JT on X for sneak dissing her on solo songs such as “No Bars” and “Sideways” in a series of tweets aimed at her bandmate.

“For you to come on here and try to play [the] victim is crazy! Jatavia, you [have] been sneak-dissing me for the LAST COUPLE OF DAYS,” she wrote . “I haven’t said s–t back to you! You made two whole songs DISSING ME, and I STILL RAPPED your s–t with my chest, and showed love, so what’s the real problem here?

Yung Miami continued to blast JT: “A b—h trying to kick me while I’m down and play into these narratives! Is dangerous when I been nothing but a friend to you!!!!! I ain’t jealous of a soul I’m always like go b—h go!!! I clap for everybody I show love to EVERYBODY it ain’t a b—h I haven’t shown love to!!!!!!”

“Oh wow, you’re really losing it,” she wrote. “If you thought this, why not speak to me about it? You came on here and said, ‘LOL,’ so [people] can ask you why you wasn’t defending me… ATTENTION seeking as usual. You looking for a way out of your situation who was the first person called you when it all started? You’re a sad f—-g case!”

Miami went on to say that all she wants is the best for JT in all facets of her solo career whether that be with music, modeling and other endeavors.

“You weird but always wanna act like I’m a weirdo you always mad it’s always a problem & all I try to do is push you tell you, you the shit you can rap, you should model etc! You always mad you doing your shit as you should CONGRATULATIONS but somehow you STILL MAD AT,” Miami said.

Fortunately, JT and the Caresha Please host appear to have hopped on the phone to settle their issues, and it’s all love from both sides.

“Jatavia we just got off the phone I’m so confused now we back to the internet,” she wrote. “Jatavia I love you. I’m moving on!”

JT gushed: “I love you more I actually love you the most!”

The City Girls last released a project in October with RAW which featured stars like Usher, Muni Long, Lil Durk, Juicy J and more. Unfortunately, the album notched a lowly debut of No. 117 on the Billboard 200.

JT has since heavily pursued her solo career with the release of tracks such as the aforementioned “Sideways” and the more recent “Alter Ego” alongside Doechii. She kicked off her first-ever solo tour last month in Houston and has stops in Miami, NYC and more on tap.

“I been said she didn’t!” JT tweeted on Friday. “She the one went radio silent! Played into, released a song about slapping rap bi—es now it’s female unity??
