Tetris Kelly:

Tom Hanks has his son break down Kendrick versus Drake. Victoria Monét has to cancel several shows, and Eminem sends a cryptic text about Slim Shady’s death. JoJo Siwa gets lit for the most magical birthday ever. We highlight independent artist Russ and go to the Gold Gala to discover new Asian artists. It’s Tuesday at Billboard News, and we’re starting with the top story. Happy 21st birthday to one of our faves, JoJo Siwa, and she celebrated exactly as I would at Epcot in Walt Disney World, and we’re showing you all the best moments.

So if you didn’t know, Disney’s Epcot Park is divided into 11 countries, and some adults, myself included, like to grab a drink in each country and drink around the world. That’s exactly what JoJo did, and it was documented by so many guests. She was seen having drinks with fans in her epic park ‘fit. One of the best moments was her going back and forth with a group finishing the lyrics to the iconic “Karma.” And of course the “Karma” dance said hello. And this moment where she wished the fan with an interesting name happy birthday too. My only request is invite me next time, JoJo!

Here’s three things you need to know in rap. “Big Main, can you explain the Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud to me?” Yeah, that’s the way Tom Hanks asks his son, Chet, for a rundown.

LiveOne Sued For Running Alleged ‘Illegal’ Music & Podcast Studio in Residential Neighborhood

Podcast and music streaming company LiveOne is being sued for allegedly “openly and illegally operating a commercial office, business event center, professional podcast interview studio, and music recording studio” out of a 6,000-square-foot mansion in Beverly Hills, according to a complaint filed May 10 by the property’s next-door neighbors.

Entertainment attorney Michael Kibler and his wife Ann Kibler allege LiveOne has been a “nuisance” since it moved to take over the lease for the house in 2022, leading to “noise at all hours of the day and night, increased foot and car traffic associated with commercial operations, and parking overflow, from the day-to-day commercial activity at the residence,” according to the lawsuit, which was filed by Kibler’s law partner John Fowler.

The house is located in the famed Beverly Hills Flats neighborhood, which has long struggled to balance the privacy and safety needs of its wealthy residents with the hustle and bustle of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills’ glitzy Golden Triangle corridor.

Trending on Billboard

According to the complaint, the Beverly Hills home now being used by LiveOne had been privately held and occupied by a long-time owner who passed away in 2021. The property, which includes, a pool, a swimming lap lane and a guest house, was then purchased by Siamak Khakshooy and Tanaz Koshki for $6.9 million in October 2021 and rented the following December to The Revels Group, which manages artists including rapper G-Eazy.

That’s when the problems for the Kibler family began, according to the lawsuit. The Revels Group used the space as its “creative compound,” the lawsuit reads, operating music studios on the property and promoting “all-night music industry events hosted by professional DJs” on a “nightclub-quality sound system in the backyard.” After receiving multiple complaints about the house, Beverly Hills’ Code Enforcement department launched an investigation in September 2022 and ordered the company to “permanently terminate all operations,” which led to The Revels Group not renewing its lease. After The Revels Group moved out in December 2022, LiveOne moved in around March 2023.

Since taking over the property, LiveOne “has operated its music and entertainment company by engaging in recording studio activities, hosting a pre-Grammy night party on February 3, 2024, and holding other music entertainment events,” the lawsuit reads.

The Kiblers have hired private investigators to surveil the house and issue lengthy reports identifying LiveOne staffers as they enter and exit the property, even running license plate checks on cars parked near the house to determine the identities of the drivers, according to the lawsuit. Besides the occasional late-night party, the Kibler’s biggest complaint is the “large quantities of trash overflowing from the City trash and recycling bins in the alley behind The LiveOne House.”

The Kiblers are suing LiveOne and the property’s owners for violating local zoning laws, charging both with public and private nuisance, as well as infliction of emotional distress. The Kiblers are asking a judge to order LiveOne to cease all business at the house and pay a $10,000 fine for each day it operates at the house.

Billboard reached out to LiveOne for comment but did not receive a response.

Ana Gabriel Postpones Shows Due to Pneumonia: ‘We Don’t See a Favorable Change’

Ana Gabriel was diagnosed with the flu on May 14 after her first of two shows at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. She recently postponed that concert to June 7 and another set for May 22 at the SND Arena in Asunción, Paraguay to June 11. On Tuesday, the artist known for No. 1 hits like “Ay Amor” and “Simplemente Amigos” announced that her May 25 show at the Tokyo Marine Hall Theater in Sao Paulo, Brazil, will be instead on July 26.

The global tour Un Deseo Más began in January and has visited various cities in Mexico and South America. With dates scheduled until the end of the year, it is set to arrive in the U.S. in the fall for a 24-date trek starting on Sept. 13 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey and including stops in Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Las Vegas, among other cities, before concluding on Nov. 30 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Here’s Everything We Know About Eminem’s ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ Album

Em’s 12th studio LP is slated to arrive this summer.

Shady’s back, back again. Eminem is in album mode and his The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is slated to arrive this summer.

The Detroit icon has cryptically dropped easter eggs and hints about the project while many details in regards to possible features and a concrete release date have remained under wraps. Eminem officially announced the project following his appearance at the NFL Draft in April in support of his hometown Detroit Lions.

The album announcement came in the form of an Unsolved Mysteries episode featuring Em meeting his demise in search of “who killed Slim Shady?”

The Death Of Slim Shady will serve as the rapper’s 12th studio album, and first since 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 to give Eminem his historic 10th consecutive leader.

Em has been no stranger to the element of surprise as he dropped his 2018 Kamikaze album out of the sky without any sort of warning for fans, which also topped the charts. He’s been laying low on the music front and is yet to drop off any new tunes in 2024, so the lead single — if there is one — will be his first offering of the year.

Fittingly enough, Dr. Dre was the first to spill the beans about the project when he revealed that Eminem had an album ready in the stash during his first late-night TV appearance in 30 years back in March.
