Chief Keef Performs in Chicago for the First Time in 12 Years: Watch

Chief Keef made a triumphant return to his hometown of Chicago this weekend.

Hailing from the city’s South Side, the drill pioneer headlined the last day of Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash Festival on Sunday (June 16). His setlist included classic bangers like “Faneto,” “Love Sosa,” and, of course, “Don’t Like. And as you might’ve guessed, the energy in the crowd was electric — luckily, the ground didn’t break like that viral video of a house party.

Cole Bennett, the Chicago area music director and executive behind Lyrical Lemonade told NBC 5 Chicago that Keef’s homecoming “feels like a true celebration” for the city. “He’s so integrated in Chicago and the hip-hop and music scene here. To bring him back home, in a way that feels like a true celebration,” Bennett said in an interview prior to Keef’s performance. “I truly think it will be one of the more memorable, iconic, talked about moments. Not just hip hop, live event history, but music history in general.”

The last time Keef performed live in the Chicago area was in 2012 during Lollapalooza, but he did perform in 2015 via hologram in nearby Hammond, Indiana before police shut it down because of pressure from the Chicago’s mayor’s office. In a statement, then-Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel called the rapper—who was 19 years old at the time—”an unacceptable role model” and this his music “promoted violence.” Keef retaliated by tweeting out the mayor’s phone number and said he was going to run for the mayor of Chicago.

Trending on Billboard

The concert in Hammond was a “stop the violence” benefit and Keef’s first words on stage were, “If you got goals, achieve ’em. If you got dreams, believe ’em. Stop the violence, stop the killing, stop the nonsense. Let the kids grow up.” Keef couldn’t perform in Chicago at the time because two outstanding child support warrants.

One thing Republicans are good at is lying, and Donald Trump’s surrogate, Senator Tim Scott, put on a master class during a recent interview on ABC, but the host was not having it.

Master of shucking and jiving, Tim Scott of South Carolina, really wants to be that one African American that Trump proudly points to when making the argument he is not racist.

The potential a** kisser, oops, we mean VP pick for Trump’s presidential campaign, is out here running his huge gums, lying on behalf of the GOP, trying to paint this picture that America is somehow a much more violent place under President Joe Biden’s leadership.

During a recent interview on ABC News on Sunday, June 16, Scott claims violent crime is up after Karl’s question about the Supreme Court’s latest dumb decision to strike down a ban on bump stocks.

Host Jonathan Karl said aht, aht, aht and hit the South Carolina senator with a community note in real-time.

“We trust and believe and respect the decision of the Supreme Court,” Scott said. “What we need to focus on, Jon, is the violence that we’re seeing across this nation. Under Joe Biden, we’ve seen the greatest increase in violent crime in my lifetime.”

Karl quickly let Scott know his information was not accurate.

“Actually, Senator, as you probably know, the latest stats on violent crime and on the murder rate, they’re actually down this past year,” Karl said.

Scott was not done lying, stating, “Under Joe Biden, neighborhoods like the ones I grew up in have never been ravaged [more].”

Social media has also been cooking Tim Cook, and deservingly so. You can see those reactions in the gallery below.

A$AP Rocky Is on Daddy Duty In Adorable Bottega Veneta Father’s Day Campaign

ASAP Rocky is on daddy duty in Bottega Veneta’s Father’s Day campaign released on Sunday (June 16). The Harlem rapper, who shares sons RZA and Riot Rose with Rihanna, stars alongside their boys in the adorable campaign.

On Sunday, Rocky took to Instagram with a touching Father’s Day tribute thanking his family, Bottega Veneta and artist Carrie Mae Weems, who also stars in the campaign. The ad features Rocky playing with 2-year-old RZA and 10-month-old Riot Rose.

“It was a pleasure to work alongside my children and family x Matthieu Blazy x Bottega Veneta x Carrie Mae Weems to bring u this heartfelt Father’s Day piece,” he wrote. “This special moment captures the vulnerability, love and interaction between my sons and I, I’m proud 2 be the man they call Dadda ❤️ Happy Father’s Day to all proud dads out there.”

Trending on Billboard

Rihanna replied to the post writing, “My baby daddy!!! Happy Fathers Day boo.”

Rocky, who launched the whiskey brand, Mercer + Prince in 2022, was announced as a brand ambassador for the Italian fashion house and has been spotted in several Bottega pieces including a giant pink Andiamo tote bag that he sported on his birthday last October.

In a recent interview, the 35-year-old father of two opened up about trading in his “playboy” persona for partnership and parenthood.

“This player persona is very pushed,” Rocky told DAZED magazine. “When you think about a rapper, you think about adolescence, about the single bachelor lifestyle. When you think about ASAP Rocky, you think about a playboy, pretty boy, bras being thrown on stage. This is about me as a one-woman man, as a family man. It’s about what completes my life now: being present as a partner and a parent.”

RM Reflects on Military Service So Far, Says He Misses His ‘Meaningful & Precious’ Moments With BTS

“It was [BTS’] 11th anniversary not long ago, but I couldn’t leave even a short post because I was busy,” he wrote in the post, which was shared in Korean. “‘Comeback To Me’ came out a month ago, and RPWP came out three weeks ago. Last April, I postponed my plan to enlist with [J-Hope] and ended up joining hands with my younger siblings. I think I spent the last 23 years just drinking and working. I’m jealous of my friend’s sergeant’s badge… but I have no regrets. (lol).”

He continued, “This is my first work where I haven’t been able to share my thoughts in person. There’s a lot I want to say, but it’s all written in the album… This is just an album in which I struggled to be honest with myself. I hope you read it over and over again for a long time.”

He also reflected on his fellow BTS member Jin, who completed his service last week and marked the occasion by reuniting with his bandmates, who were all given leave to celebrate. In the sweet moment, accepted a bouquet of flowers and laughed as RM greeted him with a performance of the their Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Dynamite” on saxophone at the military base in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi province. “I brought a saxophone to play for fun, but in reality, I had mixed feelings,” he wrote. “I wonder if it would have been very lonely and difficult to go first.. what would it have been like? One year and six months is fair to everyone here.”

The global superstars are expected to officially reunite in June 2025 after all members are released from service. “Jin always used to talk about it. I miss the members so much,” RM wrote. “I bet you do too. Now that I am scattered and living somewhere in Gangwon-do, I understand deeply. When we actually talked face to face, I realized again the things that never change, the place I had to return to, and what kind of person I was… It was a meaningful and precious time for all of us.”

He concluded by noting that he’s “looking forward to next summer” writing, “I just realized that many people still haven’t forgotten us and are waiting for us and loving us. Overflowing love. As always, I will just think of the members and spend each day well.”
