Niall Horan Releasing Two Live Albums From 2024 The Show Global Tour

Niall Horan is prepping a pair of live albums chronicling his ongoing The Show global tour. The singer announced on Wednesday (August 21) that the double-dose of live goodness will kick off with a digital release on August 30 of The Show: Live From Madison Square Garden, where Horan played two gigs on June 13 and 14 of this year.

Just a few weeks later, on Sept. 5, Lovers will get The Show: Live on Tour, which a release noted includes songs from the MSG set, along with 10 additional tracks from shows in Melbourne, Milan, Tampa, Tokyo, London, Oslo, Dusseldorf, Paris and Łódź, Poland. Both albums will also be released on vinyl on Nov. 22 as The Show: Live on Tour Deluxe Vinyl.

The first MSG show album will feature such beloved Horan songs as “Slow Hands,” “This Town,” “Black and White,” “Heaven” and “Small Talk,” along with five other tracks. The 20-track global album adds songs from all three of Horan’s solo albums, including “Save My Life,” “Heartbreak Weather,” “Dear Patience,” “Paper Houses,” “On the Loose” and “Flicker,” among others.

Horan kicked off The Show tour on Feb. 20 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, criss-crossing Europe through March 28 before hopping to New Zealand and Australia and gigs in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan in May before launching the North American leg on May 29 in Hollywood, CA and wrapping it on August 3 with a gig in Austin, Texas. The outing ramps up again on Friday (August 23) with a pair of shows in Dublin, Ireland and will keep him on the road through an Oct. 9 show in Bogota, Colombia at Movistar Arena.

The albums will chronicle the tour in support of Horan’s third solo studio album, The Show, which was released in June 2023, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The first single and video from the MSG album, “Heaven (Live From Madison Square Garden),” will be released on Friday.

A deluxe vinyl version available exclusively on Horan’s web store, will feature the 20 tracks on two translucent black vinyl discs with red and gold splatter, along with an animated lenticular cover accented with gold foil, as well as a double-sided wall poster and photos from every show on the album.

Syracuse University Launches Bandier Music Business Master’s Program

Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communication is launching a new master’s degree in music business in 2025.

The addition expands on the undergraduate program in the recording and entertainment industries. Both degree programs are named after renowned music publishing executive and former head of Sony Music Publishing Martin (Marty) Bandier, who graduated from Syracuse in 1962. The Bandier Program for Recording and Entertainment Industries is regularly recognized on Billboard’s annual list of top music schools. 

 “Our goal at the Bandier program has always been to be the premier music business school, offering the most comprehensive and cutting-edge education while forging top-tier industry connections,” said Bandier in a statement. “With this new master’s program, we’re taking it to the next level, shaping future music leaders who are equipped, connected and ready to make their mark.” 

Launching for the fall semester of 2025, the master’s program will cover subjects including the fundamental rights, royalties, and deal-making approaches of the modern music business, across the label, publishing, management, streaming and live sectors, and all genres. Students will also be able to spend a semester in Los Angeles working in the music industry.

Bill Werde, who is director of the Bandier undergraduate program, will oversee the master’s program. Before joining the Newhouse School, Werde served as editorial director of Billboard. 

“Breaking into the music industry can be daunting. If you have great instincts and passion for what fans love in music and how those tastes evolve, the new music business master’s program will give you all the access, skills and network you need for an incredibly fulfilling career in the music industry,” Werde said. “The Bandier program will open doors for students for the rest of their lives.”

Newhouse School dean Mark J. Lodato added that the program presents “a fantastic opportunity for college graduates to acquire the dynamic skills and gain the hands-on experiences that will help them succeed in the thriving music business. We are eternally grateful at Syracuse University for the support of Marty Bandier and his enthusiasm to help the Newhouse School provide a first-class education for students aspiring to work in the recording and entertainment industries.”

What’s good, bro?

So we got to talk about it. ‘LA PANTERA NEGRA,’ or, as I can say it better, ‘Black Panther.’ 

Yeah, but you did it well. You did it well. 

Thank you. I try, I try. So tell me, why the album, Black Panther? Why the name? 

First of all, I feel like, like I’m a superhero whenever I’m performing or in the studio, like, when it’s time to do what I do, it’s like putting up the suit. 

I mean, you said when you did our cover, that this album kind of like was a return back to who you are musically. So what do you feel like you left that you’re bringing back here?

I think I left a little bit of the lyricist corner. That’s what I like to do, but I was trying to grow up as an artist and define what else can I do? You know, sometimes you gotta go back to the bottom and you feel like, Let’s go start again. 

I feel like you always do stay true to your roots, whether it’s reggaeton rap, obviously, other genres, but you do experiment a lot as well. So how do you feel? Like you played around a little bit on this album?

Myke Towers Talks New Album ‘La Pantera Negra’: ‘I Feel Like I’m a Superhero’

Puerto Rican sensation Myke Towers dives deep into the superhero-inspired themes behind his upcoming album, La Pantera Negra, in an interview with Billboard News. He shares his interpretation of embracing his persona akin to suiting up like a black panther.

“First of all, I feel like I’m a superhero, whenever I’m performing or in the studio. When it’s time to do what I do, it’s like putting on the suit,” he explains. The album is slated for release Friday (Aug. 23).

Towers, known for his reggaetón, rap and trap songs including “Lala,” “La Falda” and “La Curiosidad,” is expanding his musical palette with tracks such as “En el Mar,” a song blending reggae roots with a “Bob Marley flow” and his staple música urbana influences. “I always try to do different things,” he says, hinting at the experimental vibes of the upcoming record.

A long-time collaborator of Bad Bunny’s, Towers also discussed returning to the studio with El Conejo Malo to create the track “Adivino,” a dance banger with a subtle reggaetón beat built over padded synths. On May 11, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 63 and peaked at No. 2 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, Towers’ highest charting single to date.

The Río Piedras artist (born Michael Anthony Torres Monge) also highlighted how an encounter with Benny Blanco in an L.A. studio led to a fruitful session. “We did three songs that day, and the three songs are fire,” Towers shared, spotlighting the effortless synergy between the artists. His vibe is crazy — whenever I’m around him, he’s like laughing [all] around.”

The 20-track album features an ensemble of collaborations with artists such as Peso Pluma, Jay Wheeler, Omar Montes, Cosculluela, Yovngchimi and more, promising a multifaceted auditory experience for listeners.

On April 30, Myke Towers graced the cover of Billboard Español, in which he dove into the symbolism of La Pantera Negra and his continued ascent in the music world.

Eminem’s Home Videos of His Kids Highlight Regrets in ‘Somebody Save Me’ Visual With Jelly Roll

Eminem and Jelly Roll joined forces for the first time on The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)‘s album closer “Somebody Save Me.” Just over a month later, the duo bring their vision to life with a poignant music video, which arrived on Wednesday (Aug. 21).

Em is on the outside looking in watching his three children replay precious moments from their lives that he missed out on due to his demanding career and struggle with addiction. Home video footage of Hailie Jade playing the guitar at a recital, walking across the stage for graduation and blowing out birthday candles; Alaina’s graduation; Stevie opening presents; and brother Nate during the holidays play throughout the hard-hitting clip, bringing Eminem to his knees seeking forgiveness from above.

The Detroit icon lets his anger out on a sleeping version of himself before being lowered into a casket with his tearful family surrounding him. An extended portion of Hailie Jade’s guitar recital performance brings the emotional rollercoaster to a finish.

“If you need help, you are not alone,” a message reads at the end of the video, encouraging fans in need of help to visit mental health platform BetterHelp, which aims to remove barriers to mental health access.

The Death of Slim Shady arrived to much fan fare on July 12 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 281,000 total album units sold in the first week to give Em his 11th chart leader.

“Somebody Save Me” served as a sorrowful album closer, with Jelly Roll dishing out an angelic chorus that heavily samples his “Save Me” hit. The track peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following the arrival of “Somebody Save Me,” Jelly Roll got emotional when putting the moment of working with his “childhood hero” into perspective.

“I always say my childhood hero’s lived somewhere between Willie Nelson and Eminem,” he began in his July 12 Instagram post. “I related to every word Eminem wrote. I understand him and felt like he understood me, which was rare cause I spent most of my life feeling misunderstood. … So you can imagine how I felt when I got that the call that Eminem would be sampling my song ‘Save Me’ on his new album. And for him to use the song to discuss the other side of what could’ve happened if he would’ve allowed his demons to win brought me to tears.”

Watch Taylor Swift Stop Her London Eras Tour Show to Fix Her Piano: ‘This Is in the Wrong Key’

Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour is almost always a well-oiled machine, so when something is amiss, she’s extremely quick to notice. 

Such was the case at the pop star’s Wembley concert Monday (Aug. 19), when she momentarily stopped her show to fix her piano after realizing it was tuned in the wrong key. In a video captured by a fan, she vamps on the keyboard while monologuing ahead of “Champagne Problems” before stopping short, saying, “I need to … this is in the wrong key.” 

“I just need to get to the keyboard,” she continues, attempting to lift the lid of the instrument as a crew member dressed in black rushes onto the stage to help her. “How do I get into here? I just know this is in the wrong key.” 

The 14-time Grammy winner and the stagehand eventually correct the problem, and Swift immediately gets back on track. “All right, awesome!” she cheers before remarking on the few minutes of rain London experienced during the show. “It’s raining, isn’t that nice? I think when it rains for more than six minutes, we can officially declare it a rain show. Rain shows are very, very special. Rain shows only chose a crowd that is fun enough to party and dance in the rain.”

The following day, Swift performed her final show at Wembley, effectively closing out the Eras Tour‘s European leg. She now has about a month of downtime before she resumes the trek in North America for one last run of dates in the United States and Canada in the final three months of the year.

Throughout her latest slew of London shows, Swift treated fans to multiple surprises, with Ed Sheeran joining her on stage at one point to perform a mashup of their collaborations “Everything Has Changed” and “End Game” along with his own smash “Thinking Out Loud.” On Tuesday (Aug. 20), the “Anti-Hero” singer brought out both Florence Welch for a surprise duet of their The Tortured Poets Department duet “Florida!!!” and Jack Antonoff for an acoustic guitar performance of “Death By a Thousand Cuts” and “Getaway Car.”

Hulk Hogan got caught in 4K, making a complete a** out himself.

TMZ Sports exclusively shared a video of the WWE Hall-of-Famer talking about allegedly performing wrestling moves on Vice President Kamala Harris while promoting his beer at a bar in Medina, Ohio, on Monday.

The iconic wrestler, who also was caught on tape saying the N-word with the hard ER, also used the moment to take a page out of the MAGA GOP playbook by questioning VP Harris’ racial identity.

Hogan might have realized he had crossed a line blaming his violent rhetoric on the booze he was drinking.

Per TMZ Sports:

The Hulkster was at the Thirsty Cowboy in Medina, Ohio promoting his new beer Monday night when he grabbed the mic and started firing up the crowd … and things quickly flew off the rails.

Hulk asked the place … “Want me to body-slam Kamala Harris? Want me to drop the leg on Kamala?” 

Hulk took some more shots at Kamala in Ohio, including mocking her Indian heritage, and making a racist gesture referring to indigenous Americans. So … racist and ignorant, if you’re keeping score.
At that point, Hulk seemed to realize he may have taken things too far … and said it was just the beers talking.

HarbourView Acquires James Fauntleroy’s Publishing Assets

HarbourView Equity Partners has acquired what it describes as “select publishing assets” belonging to singer-songwriter James Fauntleroy, whose credits include Bruno Mars hits like “That’s What I Like,” Justin Timberlake’s “Suit and Tie” and Ciara’s “Love Sex Magic.” Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A four-time Grammy winner — including song of the year and best R&B song for “That’s What I Like” — Fauntleroy has worked with Rihanna, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Frank Ocean, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, Drake, SZA, Nipsey Hussle, Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar, among many others. Most recently, he helped write “Die with a Smile,” the new single from Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.

Fauntleroy is also a member of the songwriter/producer/musician collective 1500 or Nothin’ and a co-founder of the 1500 Sound Academy, a music school for aspiring young talent that’s based in his hometown of Inglewood.

A few weeks ago Ice Spice fans began speculating that the Bronx rapper might’ve become the latest celebrity to hop on the Ozempic craze as he physical frame seemingly shrunk right before everyone’s eyes, but the “Deli” rapper is now pushing back against the allegations as they seem to have struck a cord with her.

This past Monday (Aug. 19), Ice Spice took to X Spaces to touch on the topic of her recent weight loss and seemed pretty annoyed that everyone assumed she was using the weight loss drug that is responsible for some of your favorite celebrities seeming leaner these days.

With everyone listening in on what she had to say, a audibly frustrated Ice Spice went right into the subject saying ““I actually came on here to talk about that real quick. I wish y’all never learned the word Ozempic. That’s one thing I wish. Oh my God! Like, what even is Ozempic? What the f*ck is that? Genuinely, what is that?”

Though we’re lowkey surprised she never heard of the popular prescription weight loss drug, Ice Spice credits her own personal lifestyle change for shedding pounds off her body saying “You lazy-a** b*tches never heard of a gym?” she asked. Continuing on she explained “It’s called the gym, it’s called eating healthy, it’s called being on tour. Like, what the hell? Maybe if I was sitting at home all f*cking day, it’d be easier to stay big.”

Yeah, Ice Spice doesn’t like being accused of cutting corners when it comes to getting into shape and we ain’t mad at that. When someone goes hard when working on body and become a better version of themselves, accusing them of taking the easy way out isn’t going to sit to well with them.

Still, we lowkey miss the thick as mofongo Ice Spice who could fill out a pair of sweat pants with no problem. Just sayin.’

Mavis Staples Marks Career First As ‘Worthy’ Goes Top 10 on Adult Alternative Airplay

Mavis Staples claims her first top 10 as a solo lead artist on a Billboard airplay chart thanks to “Worthy,” which lifts three spots to No. 9 on the Adult Alternative Airplay survey dated Aug. 24.

“Worthy” follows a previous radio top 10 – and No. 1 – for Staples in Hozier’s “Nina Cried Power,” on which she’s a featured act. The song ruled Adult Alternative Airplay for two weeks in 2018.

Prior to “Nina Cried Power,” Staples reached Adult Alternative Airplay three times, all in featured roles, via Natalie Merchant’s “Build a Levee” (No. 17, 2002), Arcade Fire’s “I Give You Power” (No. 18, 2017) and Benjamin Booker’s “Witness,” No. 29, 2017).

Prior to “Worthy,” Stapes notched her first lead appearance on the tally with “Change” (No. 27, 2019).

Staples first reached the Billboard charts as a member of The Staple Singers, who released their debut album in 1958 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. The group’s chart history includes a pair of No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100: “I’ll Take You There” in 1972 and “Let’s Do It Again” in 1975.

Staples made solo appearances on the Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in 1970-92, along with a visit to Hot Gospel Songs in 2006.

Concurrently, “Worthy” ranks at its No. 42 high on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 858,000 audience impressions in the week ending Aug. 15, according to Luminate.

“Worthy” is currently a standalone single. Staples, 85, released her most recent album in 2022, the Levon Helm collaboration Carry Me Home, which was recorded in 2011 before Helm’s death; it peaked at No. 2 on the Blues Albums chart, marking her fifth top 10. Her own We Get By became her first No. 1 on Blues Albums in 2019.
