It’s been almost a year since B.G. regained his freedom after serving a 12-year bid and since then the OG Hot Boy has been dropping off new work to get that old Ca$h Money vibe back in 2024 and for his latest offering he’s linked up with his former boss to help him do just that.

In the new black-and-white (and red) visuals to “Go And Get It,” B.G., Birdman and Jacquees take to the studio to lay out their vocals while a thick young woman in a red outfit grooves to the melody before showing how she handles a red mic without saying a single word.

Further down South, That Mexican OT welcomes Curren$y and LE$ to his side of town and in their clip to “1982” the three spitters style alongside some OG Benz’s while tweking off of whatever kind of Magic Dragon they were puffing on.

Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from B.o.B, Ro$ama, and more.

Beyoncé Sends Donald Trump Campaign Cease-and-Desist Over ‘Freedom’ Use: Report

Beyoncé‘s record label has sent a cease-and-desist to Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign over its use of the megastar’s song “Freedom” in a social media video, according to Rolling Stone, which reports that the campaign did not have permission to use the track.

In the offending clip, which was posted to Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung‘s X account, “Freedom” plays over footage of the Republican presidential candidate stepping off a plane. The video arrived long after the song had become the official theme song for the campaign of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz, with Vice President Harris playing the song at her first presidential campaign rally earlier this summer after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her candidacy. The Harris-Walz campaign’s use of the track, including in multiple campaign ads and at the Democratic National Convention, has been done with Beyoncé’s permission.

As of this writing, the Trump video using “Freedom” remains on Cheung’s X account.

This is far from the first time Trump has run afoul of an artist for using their song at campaign events and elsewhere without permission. On Aug. 11, lawyers for the Isaac Hayes estate filed a notice of copyright infringement and threatened further legal action against the Trump campaign over its use of Hayes’ “Hold On, I’m Coming” at multiple Trump rallies without authorization between 2022 and 2024. Other artists who have objected to Trump’s use of their songs over the years include The Rolling Stones, Rihanna, Adele and Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler.

Dame Dash Wonders How Much Jay-Z Is Willing to Pay for His Roc-A-Fella Shares

Dame Dash is back at it again.

The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder went on Instagram Live to talk about selling his shares of the legendary rap label and wondered just how much Jay-Z is willing to pay. “I don’t expect anyone, just some average person, to come buy it — or a third of it, my third. I don’t wanna get sued again,” he says at the beginning of the clip. “I know, for some reason, nobody wants me to sell it, but I’m ready to just move on, do my thing. I had a lawsuit, I had a judgement, and I’m like, ‘Yo, that’s 800 grand. Go get it from over there. They not paying me neither,” he said in regards to the Aug. 29 auction that’s taking place in order to satisfy the $823,000 he owes to movie producer Josh Weber.

Dame then brought up the fact that Jay has the option to block potential buyers and brought up the emergency meeting he and Biggs had to stop him from selling his shares. “I’m sure there’s a little twist they put on things. I don’t know why. I do know why, but I don’t know why. I don’t know why about one thing, but I do know why about the other,” he said cryptically. “[Jay-Z] has the first right of refusal. They had some bum-ass board meeting and all of a sudden he gets first right of refusal. I don’t really care. It don’t slow nothing down for me.” Adding, “Now I don’t know how deep homie’s pockets is. I’m curious if he’s gonna match that. I put an offer on the table, lemme see if he’ll match it. But it was from other people.”

Earlier this month, Billboard reported that although Jay and Biggs’ last minute attempt to change the company’s by-laws are unenforceable, there are still some stipulations. “Whomever buys Dame’s stake in Roc-A-Fella will be a minority owner without authority over any decision-making,” the source tells Billboard. “They won’t have the ability to sell the copyright or borrow against the master as all decisions require majority vote.”

Trending on Billboard

There’s also the fact that Roc-A-Fella Inc.’s crown jewel Reasonable Doubt will revert back to Jay-Z in 2031 because copyright’s termination right allows him to control the rights of the album 35 years after its initial release in 1996. “There’s also an expiration date on the master ownership for the company, which means revenue and the only asset doesn’t have many years left,” the source also told Billboard.

Dame has recently been in the news for offering up an original Roc-A-Fella chain to anyone who bids over $10 million for his third of the company. “So if you do wanna buy one-third of Roc-A-Fella Inc., you are gonna have to bring some bread,” he said. “And anything over $10 million, I’m gonna sweeten the pot: you get an original Roc-A-Fella chain from off my neck.”

Thursday, Aug. 29 is going to be a crazy day on Rap Twitter.

Taylor Swift Breaks Silence on ‘Devastating’ Vienna Show Cancellations, Thanks Fans for Their ‘Love & Unity’

Taylor Swift officially wrapped the European leg of her Eras Tour on Tuesday (Aug. 20), and the superstar took to Instagram the day after to reflect on the special run, as well as break her silence on the canceled Vienna shows due to a terror threat.

“We have officially wrapped the European leg of The Eras Tour. With it came the most passionate crowds I’ve ever played for, new traditions in the show, and an entirely new era added in. It was a more hectic pace than we’d done before, and I’m so proud of my crew/fellow performers for being able to physically perform that show and build our massive stage, take it apart, and make magic with so few days in between for recovery and travel. They’re the most impressive people I know and I’m so lucky they gave The Eras Tour their time, their energy, and their expertise,” she wrote.

She added that walking on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium was “a rollercoaster of emotions” after the “devastating” news that her Vienna shows were canceled. “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows,” she shared. “But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives. I was heartened by the love and unity I saw in the fans who banded together. I decided that all of my energy had to go toward helping to protect the nearly half a million people I had coming to see the shows in London. My team and I worked hand in hand with stadium staff and British authorities every day in pursuit of that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they did for us.”

Trending on Billboard

Swift also explained her reasoning for not speaking out until now. “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she wrote. “In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that. And then London felt like a beautiful dream sequence. All five crowds at Wembley Stadium were bursting with passion, joy, and exuberance. The energy in that stadium was like the most giant bear hug from 92,000 people each night, and it brought me back to a place of carefree calm up there.”

See her full statement here.

In a statement on Wednesday (Aug. 7), Barracuda Music, the concert promoters for the Austrian shows said, “With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety. All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.”

The person identified as the main plotter reportedly quit his job and “conspicuously changed his appearance and adapted to IS [Islamic State] propaganda,” despite his North Macedonian roots. Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, Austria’s head of the Directorate of State Security and Intelligence, said the suspect wanted to use knives or homemade explosives to attack Swifties outside the stadium at the event, which was expected to draw more than 195,000 fans.

Authorities also said that I.S. and al-Qaida materials were found at the home of a second, 17-year-old Austrian suspect, who was reportedly recently hired by a company that provides services at the venue. Both suspects are currently in custody.

Michael Jackson Estate Wins Ruling Approving $600M Sony Sale — Over His Mother’s Objections

A California appeals court has issued a final ruling that Michael Jackson’s estate can proceed with a $600 million sale of the singer’s catalog to Sony Music, rejecting objections from his mother that aimed to block the deal.

A month after the appeals court issued a tentative ruling against Katherine Jackson, the court finalized that decision on Wednesday – ruling that the estate’s executors (John Branca and John McClain) didn’t violate the terms of Michael’s will when they inked the gargantuan deal with Sony.

“The will gave the executors broad powers of sale, with no exception for the specific assets at issue in this case,” the court wrote. “As such, [a lower judge] did not err in concluding that it was Michael’s intent to allow the executors to sell any estate assets, including those at issue in the proposed transaction.”

Trending on Billboard

Beyond the merits of the deal, the court also rejected Katherine’s appeal for a simpler reason: that she had “forfeited” her arguments by failing to make them before a lower probate court.

Katherine’s attorneys did not immediately return a request for comment. She can still appeal the ruling to the California Supreme Court, though her odds of overturning the ruling are low.

As reported by Billboard earlier this year, the Jackson estate and Sony Music have reached a deal that will see the music giant buy half of the singer’s publishing and recorded masters catalog for more than $600 million.

But because the Jackson estate is still pending before a Los Angeles probate court more than 15 years after his 2009 death, his executors took the then-confidential deal to Judge Mitchell Beckloff for approval. When they did so, Katherine filed objections — among them that the sale “violated Michael’s wishes” and that the catalog would likely continue to gain value over time if retained.

In April 2023, Beckloff rejected those objections and ruled that the deal could move forward. Katherine then filed an appeal, resulting in Wednesday’s ruling.

In the new decision, the court rejected a number of key arguments from Katherine, including her claim that the sale would violate basic inheritance rules because it would prevent all of Michael’s assets from being transferred to his heirs. In doing so, the court said Michael’s will vested Branca and McClain with “full power and authority” to make such deals while in control of the estate.

“The proposed transaction is not a gift or distribution of estate assets—it is an asset sale, pursuant to which the estate receives a significant monetary payment and interest in a joint venture,” the court wrote. “While the proposed transaction will result in the estate exchanging assets for cash and other valuable rights, it neither diminishes the estate’s value nor impairs the executors’ future ability to transfer the estate’s assets to the trust.”

The wrangling over the Sony deal has exposed rifts among Jackson’s heirs. In March, Jackson’s son Blanket asked the judge to stop his grandmother from using estate money to fund her efforts to block the Sony deal. Though both had initially opposed the sale, Blanket and Jackson’s other children accepted the probate judge’s decision allowing it to move forward.

Later that same week, the estate responded to claims from Katherine’s attorneys that she needed estate money to pay for her legal battle, arguing she had received more than $55 million since the singer’s death. The estate’s executors argued that “virtually no request of Mrs. Jackson for her care or maintenance has been declined,” including more than $33 million in cash.

A rep for the estate’s executors declined to comment on Wednesday’s ruling.

Lady Gaga Sings Along to Her Bruno Mars Collab With Her Adorable New Puppy

Lady Gaga is promoting her song with the help of her adorable new puppy .

The superstar took to TikTok to share a video in which she’s seen singing along to her freshly released Bruno Mars collab, “Die With a Smile.” In the clip, Gaga has a bright blue eye makeup look as she sweetly cradles a tiny French Bulldog.

Shortly after the project dropped last week, the Joker star and “Uptown Funk!” hitmaker gave “Die With a Smile” its live debut at Mars’ Thursday night (Aug. 15) concert at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. For the show, he wore a cowboy hat, while Gaga again sported bee-hive hair akin to her look in the music video, maintaining the song’s retro feel.

Sonos CEO Says the Company Can’t Bring Its Old App Back

A disastrous redesign of Sonos’ mobile app that led to customer complaints, hurt sales and caused the delay of two key product launches cannot be fixed by resurrecting the speaker and headphone company’s old app, Sonos CEO Patrick Spence said on Tuesday (Aug. 20).

Since its launch in May, customers have complained that the updated app did not recognize existing Sonos speakers and would not allow new speakers or headphones to be set up. Earlier this month, Spence said the company was lowering its fourth-quarter sales projections and delaying the launch of two major new products while it focuses on fixing the app.

Spence, who made the comments about the old app, which he refers to as “S2,” in an AMA discussion on Reddit after being asked if the company would make it available for download again to customers, said reverting back to it could actually make matters worse.

Trending on Billboard

“The trick of course is that Sonos is not just the mobile app, but software that runs on your speakers and in the cloud too,” Spence wrote on Reddit. “In the months since the new mobile app launched we’ve been updating the software that runs on our speakers and in the cloud to the point where today S2 is less reliable & less stable then [sic] what you remember. After doing extensive testing we’ve reluctantly concluded that re-releasing S2 would make the problems worse, not better. I’m sure this is disappointing. It was disappointing to me.”

Sonos announced it was cutting 6% of its global workforce — representing roughly 110 people — last week following a recent quarterly earnings announcement, during which executives disclosed they will spend $20 to $30 million fixing the app, investing in customer support and embarking on other initiatives to win back peeved buyers.
