Megan Thee Stallion: Photos From the Billboard Cover Shoot

It’s the first night of July’s Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C., and actor-writer-producer Issa Rae has some exciting news to share with the 30,000 fans in attendance: She’s releasing her first rap album. Although moments later she clarifies that it was a joke, the Hollywood polymath reveals what might deter her if she was really angling to become music’s top female rapper. “Megan Thee Stallion has bars and body,” Rae says as she introduces Megan’s headlining set. “She’s actually intimidating. I can’t look into her eyes for too long.”

It’s easy to see why Megan Thee Stallion would give anyone pause. Standing at 5 foot 10 inches, she’s bold, bright and bodacious — an awe-inspiring trifecta. When I meet Megan at D.C.’s Four Seasons Hotel the next morning, her larger-than-life persona is in full force: Clutching a Louis Vuitton Murakami bag, she walks into the plush hotel suite with model-like precision as if it were her personal runway. But her imposing aura quickly melts away to reveal her signature wit. When we last spoke two years ago, Megan gave me a hard time when she learned I’d never had Flamin’ Hot Cheetos — and neither of us has forgotten it. “So, you really never tried Hot Cheetos?” she asks before giving me a quizzical look. “What kind of childhood did you have?”

In 2020, Megan’s two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s — her “Savage (Remix),” featuring Beyoncé, and her Cardi B collaboration, “WAP” — helped her become one of pop culture’s biggest names, and her three Grammy Award wins in early 2021 cemented her critical bona fides.

Skyrocketing Price of Oasis Tickets Sparks U.K. Government Backlash: ‘Depressing to See’

LONDON — The British government has pledged to look into the practice of dynamic pricing for music concerts after tickets for Oasis‘ highly anticipated reunion tour more than doubled in price on official ticketing platforms, prompting hundreds of complaints from disgruntled fans.

Tickets for the band’s 17-date U.K. and Ireland 2025 tour went on sale Saturday morning with prices starting at £65.00 ($85.00) for seating and £148.50 for standing tickets.

Fans’ excitement quickly turned to anger, however, after enduring long queues on the tour’s primary ticketing vendor, Ticketmaster, and then discovering that the cost of a standing ticket had soared to £355.00 without warning when they finally got to the front of the queue – due to high demand.

Trending on Billboard

Although tickets to all 17 shows sold out in less than a day, the unexpected price hikes provoked an angry backlash against Oasis and Ticketmaster from fans with hundreds venting their frustration on social media.

In response, the U.K. culture secretary, Lisa Nandy, said it was “depressing to see vastly inflated prices excluding ordinary fans from having a chance of enjoying their favourite band live.”

The cabinet minister said that dynamic pricing is one of the issues the government would be looking at as part of its previously announced consultation on the secondary ticketing market, which is due to begin in the fall.

Transparency and the technology that ticketing companies use to incentivize dynamic pricing would also be examined as part of the forthcoming review, said Nandy, adding that the newly elected Labour government is “committed to putting fans back at the heart of music.”

“Working with artists, industry and fans we can create a fairer system that ends the scourge of touts, rip-off resales and ensures tickets at fair prices,” she said in a statement.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer echoed the culture secretary’s concerns over secondary ticketing and said the government will get a “grip” on the issue of dynamic pricing to “make sure that actually tickets are available at a price that people can actually afford.”

“This is really important, because this isn’t just an Oasis problem,” Starmer told the BBC. “This is a problem for tickets for all sorts of events, where people go online straight away… and within seconds sometimes, sometimes minutes, all the tickets are gone, and the prices start going through the roof, which means many people can’t afford it.”

On Monday (Sept. 2), the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said it had received 450 complaints about “misleading claims about availability and pricing” concerning the sale of Oasis’ tickets by Ticketmaster. The regulator said it was “carefully assessing these complaints” and couldn’t comment further. Ticketmaster did not respond to requests to comment when approached by Billboard.

Priced Out

Although dynamic ticket pricing has become an increasingly regular occurrence in the U.S. live music industry in recent years, Oasis’ comeback tour – which is being jointly promoted by Live Nation, SJM Concerts, MCD and DF Concerts – marks its most high-profile and potentially biggest roll out for live music concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

As in other countries, the practice is commonly used by travel companies, taxis and hotels in the U.K., but it is understood to have only been fleetingly used for gigs and tours so far in the British touring market and, when it has, has failed to draw major scrutiny or attention.

The furore around dynamic pricing from U.K. politicians is further unwelcome news for Ticketmaster owner Live Nation, which was hit with an antitrust lawsuit earlier this year, filed by the U.S. Department of Justice and a group of 30 states, who accuse the concert giant of market dominance and demanding that it and Ticketmaster be broken up.

In the U.K., competition regulators looking into the live music business have so far largely focused on resale ticketing platforms such as Viagogo, which has previously been subject to numerous controversies, investigations and inquiries, culminating in the firm being ordered to offload its StubHub business outside of North America in 2021.

Calls for Stronger Protections

Scrutiny of all aspects of the live industry from governments and regulators in all major touring markets is nevertheless steadily growing.

Last year, the European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union, said that it was “aware of the concerns” about ticketing companies using dynamic pricing and was “monitoring the situation.” Excessive prices imposed “by a dominant company” would be in breach of EU laws, the commission warned at the time.

Prior to July’s U.K. general election, Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer said that, once in power, he would limit the number of tickets individual resellers could sell on resale platforms and give the U.K. competition watchdog greater powers to take “swift” action against services and scalpers who break the rules.

“The lack of transparency in live music overall is increasingly problematic. This is an opportune moment to look at the market overall,” says Adam Webb, campaign manager of consumer organization FanFair Alliance, who backs the government’s promise to examine dynamic pricing.

The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has also welcomed the government’s pledge to strengthen consumer protections around ticket buying and said on Tuesday it is “urgently reviewing recent developments in the ticketing market, including the way dynamic pricing is being used in the primary market.”

“Consumer protection law requires businesses to be fair and transparent in their dealings with consumers, and businesses must give clear and accurate information about the price people have to pay, ” said a CMA spokesperson. “Failure to do so may breach the law.”

Katy Perry Reveals Which Household Chores a Partner Can Do That Get Her Seriously Hot and Bothered

There’s simply no polite way to say the following: according to Katy Perry, there are a few household chores her partners, such as, say, fiancé actor Orlando Bloom, can do around the house that will result in specific, enthusiastic, sexual acts.

Perhaps it’s best to just let Perry explain, as she did in NSFW language in a preview of her upcoming appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast. “If I come downstairs and the kitchen is clean, and you’ve done all the dishes and closed all the pantry doors, you better be ready to get your d–k sucked,” Perry said emphatically.

“That is my love language! I don’t need a red Ferrari … I can buy a red Ferrari,” the 39-year-old singer screamed to Cooper’s delight. “Just do the f–king dishes! I will suck your d–k! It’s that easy.” Perry and Bloom, 47, have been dating since 2016 and they are the parents of four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove.

Trending on Billboard

Perry, who was previously married to right-wing British comedian Russell Brand (2010-2023) and dated guitarist John Mayer for two years (2012-2014), also told Cooper that she’s “no longer attracted to narcissist,” without naming names. “Anyone that is constantly the goalpost or pulling the rug out from you emotionally… not it,” Perry said of her dating red flags. “Someone that says they know you better than you know yourself. Someone that just won’t help.”

In the preview for the full episode which drops on Wednesday (Sept. 4) Perry also revealed that during her conservative upbringing as the daughter of Pentecostal pastors she was forbidden from trick or treating, eating Lucky Charms cereal — because the idea of luck is “derivative from Lucifer” — or even allowed to acknowledge the opposite sex growing up.

Perry will be front and center next week when she receives the Video Vanguard Award and performs at the 2024 MTV VMAs on Sept. 11. The singer’s upcoming sixth major label studio album, 143, is due out on Sept. 20.

Queen Guitarist Brian May Reveals Recent Minor Stroke Left One Arm Frozen: ‘The Good News Is I Can Play Guitar’

Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed that he recently suffered a minor stroke that resulted in damage to his left arm. The 77-year-old rock icon described a “health hiccup” last week that made him temporarily unable to control the hand he uses to pick out chords on his guitar, even as he assured his fans that he’s on the mend.

“I think good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days and I say this because it was in some doubt because that little Health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke and all of a sudden — out of the blue – I didn’t have any control over this arm so was a little scary,” May said in a video posted on his website in which he wiggled his left hand as proof that he’s getting better.

“I have to say I had the most  fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital where I went blue lights flashing… the lot. Very exciting!!,” he added. May said he initially didn’t want to say anything because, “I really don’t want sympathy. PLEASE DON’T DO THAT cuz it’ll clutter up my inbox and I hate that.”

Trending on Billboard

The good news, he said, is that he’s okay now and that he’s listening to his doctors, who have “grounded” him, which means no driving, no flying and no raising his heart rate too high.

The health update came as May is busy promoting his recently aired new documentary, Brian May: The Badgers, the Farmers and Me, which chronicles his decades long campaign to end the UK’s annual culling of badgers. According to the Guardian, around 200,000 badgers have been killed over the past decade in the UK over fears that the badgers are responsible for the spread of bovine tuberculosis, which results in the slaughter of around 20,000 infected cattle per year.

Back in 2020, May revealed a “near death” experience he had after suffering a heart attack.

Are You Ready For Some… Taylor Swift? NFL 2024-2025 Season Promo Spotlights Pop Star

It goes without saying that Taylor Swift, technically, has nothing to do with football. Besides, of course, dating Super Bowl star tight end Travis Kelce for the past year. But if you are new to this whole NFL thing, you might think that Swift was one of the leagues premiere athletes based on a viewing of the leagues promotional sizzle reel for this weekend’s official kick-off of the season.

In fact, you only have to wait, literally, two seconds, before spotting Swift hanging in a luxury box with Mama Kelce and shouting her support for Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs in the 30-second promo clip. And there she is, five seconds later, once again flipping out alongside Donna Kelce.

If you watch closely, you might notice that the pop superstar actually gets more screen time than any actual NFL star, including three-time Super Bowl champ (and three-time Super Bowl MVP) and Kelce’s QB, Patrick Mahomes. As the video moves through the months, we also get a glimpse of Dolly Parton, who famously donned the skimpy Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit last season, swaggy fedora-sports agent Sean Stellato… and then Swift again, dressed in a Kelce No. 87 puffer coat and beanie hat.

Trending on Billboard

And then, a few seconds later, there she is again giving Kelce a big kiss on the field after the Chiefs punched their ticket to Super Bowl LVIII before a brief glimpse of Usher during the Super Bowl halftime show makes way for another shot of Swift, this time in the luxury box pounding a drink with Brittany Mahomes and Ice Spice.

To be fair, since Swift and Kelce began dating near the beginning of last season, the singer has dominated the gridiron in the same way she does the charts, with reports that ratings were up last year, especially among women 12-17 and 18-49. Swift recently wrapped the European leg of her Eras Tour and while it’s unknown if she’ll be back in the box on Thursday night (Sept. 5) when the Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens in their season opener, Mahomes recently revealed that Swift is “really interested” in football and asks great questions, joking that “she’s already drawing up plays.”

Kelce seconded that emotion on The Rich Eisen Show recently, when he said that Swift has learned so much about football over the past year that she is, in fact, making prettygoodplay suggestions. “She had just been so open to learning the game. She didn’t know much about the rules and everything,” he said. “I think what makes her so good in her profession is that she’s so detailed in every aspect of it, from the words to her music and even the releases and the music videos and everything. She’s just so detailed and apart of it, that I think she was just curious about the profession. I know none of the plays have gotten to Coach [Andy] Reid yet. If they ever do, I’ll let everyone know it was her creation.”

Of course, he added, “she’s a little biased and just creates plays for me.”

“I’ve always been such an album lover,” she told Kimmel, explaining why she prefers to release full-length projects. “I really love when something feels like one piece and is cohesive and thought through.”

Eilish, who made history as the youngest person to sweep the top four Grammy categories in 2020, shared how she carefully arranges the flow of each album. “I’ll write down all the names, tear them up, move them around… it’s all about dynamics and the flow.”

The “Lunch” singer also touched on her long-standing relationship with her fans, likening seeing familiar faces at her concerts over the years to “seeing old friends again.”

“What’s been so cool is that all of these fans, all of my little family, we’ve been growing up at the same time,” she told Kimmel. “So many kids, especially in L.A. because I’m from here and I’m around and stuff, when I was first starting out there would be certain kids that I would see at everything I would do, and we were all the same age.”

Eilish continued, “So they would come to stuff and I would see them multiple times a year and then not for a couple years, and then I’d see them again. Over the years I’ve seen the same faces multiple times, and it feels like seeing my old friends again.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she treated the audience to an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip of her and her brother, Finneas, working on the track “Birds of a Feather” while in the back of an SUV in Brazil.

“This is such a normal thing for me and Finneas,” she said, referring to their sibling collaboration that has produced multiple hit records, including the James Bond theme “No Time to Die.” “We’ve recorded everywhere—from a tour bus bunk to little hotel rooms. It’s casual, but we love it.”

With her Hit Me Hard and Soft World Tour kicking off Sept. 29 in Quebec, Eilish shared how she balances life on the road. “I don’t ever want to resent it,” she explained. “I love touring, but you can start hating yourself if you’re gone for too long, so I make sure to take breaks in between.”

Eilish’s latest album Hit Me Hard and Soft debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in June, marking the biggest weekly album units of her career. All 10 tracks from the album made it into the Billboard Hot 100’s top 40, including “Lunch” at No. 5, her highest debut to date. The album also secured 90,000 units in vinyl sales, earning Eilish her fifth consecutive No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart.

Known for earning Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer earlier in the season, Mishra once again proved why she is a standout contender in her latest showstopping performance on Sept. 3.

Taking on the emotionally charged ballad, Mishra performed with grace and maturity beyond her years, drawing rave reviews from the judges. “You didn’t have a drummer or bass to hide behind. It was just you and the piano,” Heidi Klum told her. “You did it so amazingly. Congratulations.”

Simon Cowell was also blown away by Mishra’s talent, saying, “You sounded amazing, seriously. Your potential is really exciting.”

Howie Mandel added, “You’re 10 years old, but you have the talent of someone who’s been performing for decades.”

The young singer’s journey has been remarkable. Mishra has performed the American national anthem at major sporting events, including the Miami Heat vs. Utah Jazz NBA game and the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament.

Her AGT performance, however, pushed her into new territory, taking on a Miley Cyrus anthem that was no easy feat.

The judges all stood in awe of her rendition. Sofia Vergara called it “breathtaking,” and said, “You deserve for everybody to vote tonight for you.” Mandel praised her, saying, “You could win this whole thing.”

Mishra humbly responded, “I’m so blessed to sing on this world’s biggest stage in front of the beautiful audience.”

Wrecking Ball,” originally performed by Miley Cyrus, became a pop culture sensation when it topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in 2013 and has received over a billion views on YouTube.

The pint-sized powerhouse’s journey on AGT continues, with fans eagerly watching her next steps in the competition. Check out her performance below.

La Arrolladora Banda El Limón De René Camacho Back at No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay With ‘Aquí Hay Para Llevar’

La Arrolladora Banda El Limón De René Camacho achieves its 18th No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as “Aquí Hay Para Llevar” jumps 2-1 to rule the Sept. 7-dated list.

“Aquí Hay Para Llevar” is La Arrolladora Banda El Limón’s first champ since the group’s collab with Alejandro Fernández, “Nunca Dudes en Llamarme,” ruled for one week in September 2022. In between, the Sinaloans placed two other top 10s, including “Ya Me La Debías,” which reached No. 10 high in February.

“Aquí Hay Para Llevar,” released April 19 on Disa/UMLE, lands at the summit on Regional Mexican Airplay with 6.6 million audience impressions earned in the U.S. during the Sept. 23-29 tracking week according to Luminate; that’s an 11% gain in audience from the week prior.

Trending on Billboard

The song was produced by Fernando Camacho and composed by singer-songwriters Edgar Barrera and Luis Mexia. While both artists have landed in the top 10 on the Latin Songwriters chart, Barrera topped the tally for 23 weeks.

“Aquí” marks the 18th time that La Arrolladora has claimed the weekly crown on Regional Mexican Airplay among 49 career entries. The group pulled its longest-leading run No. 1 through “El Ruido de Tus Zapatos” for 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2023. Plus, with the new win, La Arrolladora now ties Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga for the fourth-most champs since the chart launched in 1994, both with 18 No. 1s. With the list updating this week, here’s the review of the acts with the most No. 1s on the Mexican radio tally:

25, Calibre 50
20, Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga
19, Intocable
18, Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga
18, La Arrolladora Banda el Limón de Rene Camacho
17, Christian Nodal
17, Los Tigres del Norte

Elsewhere, “Aquí” offers a bright spot for La Arolladora on the overall Latin Airplay chart, as the song pushes 5-3 for the group’s highest-ranking entry since the No. 2-peaking “El Ruido de Tus Zapatos” in 2013.
