Kim Kardashian Crawls Through Christmas Chaos in Video For Travis Barker-Produced ‘Santa Baby’ Cover

Christmas can be both the most wonderful, and the most chaotic time of year. What with all the rushing around and the baking and the wrapping and the delayed holiday travel. Kim Kardashian hints at the sometimes overwhelming holiday hubbub experience in a new video for her cover of Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby.”

The visual directed by Nadia Lee Cohen and Charlie Denis dropped on Sunday (Dec. 22) and in it the Skims founder takes center stage in a blonde wig as a woozy party host crawling through the wreckage of holiday merriment gone sideways. Exhaling the lyrics in a husky whisper, Kardashian’s vocals are well-buried in the mix of the noisy video, which mostly focuses on the outré guest list, including deal-making stock bros yelling into corded landlines, a passed-out, man-sized elf and models playing Twister in their underwear.

In the midst of it all, a zoned-out looking Kardashian meanders on all fours across the garbage-strewn floor wearing pink leg warmers, tan riding pants with an exposed thong and a blue cashmere cardigan with ample cleavage, her perfectly made-up face a island of calm in the midst of two guys wrestling, Jesus checking on the fridge contents and a woman hacking a Christmas tree to pieces.

The track was produced by Kardashian’s brother-in-law, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and released through Barker’s DTA Records and Columbia Records; it is Kardashian’s first new music release in more than 13 years, serving as the follow-up to her The-Dream and Tricky Stewart-produced debut single, 2011’s “Jam (Turn It Up).”

The video — with a glitchy, VHS-tape-like crackling quality — continues to get more bizarre, gliding past a woman in a star-spangled bikini trapped in a fish tank, a couple of businessmen rubbing a Rudolph furry’s belly and a voyeuristic, creepy-looking Santa, played by Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, whose been videotaping the whole scene.

The achievement makes it the largest-ever tour by an Australian electronic artist, with every show selling out almost instantly—a feat that proves his place as a trailblazer in the live music scene.

The tour spanned iconic venues and greenfield sites, with performances at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse, Sydney’s Domain, Brisbane’s Riverstage, and Perth’s Wellington Square, and fans witnessed a four-hour back-to-back set with Solomun as part of Untitled Group’s 10-year anniversary celebration.

“Today was the last show on this tour,” Dom told the 9,000 strong audience towards the end of his set in Queensland, as per The Music Network. “This tour has changed my life.”

“It’s been an incredible journey working with Dom over the past 10+ years, and this tour is the culmination of all the hard work, passion, and dedication we’ve put into building something special together,” Nicholas Greco, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Untitled Group, shared. “Watching Dom connect with fans on such a massive scale, and seeing his music resonate with so many people across the country, is an experience I’ll never forget. This tour was a record-breaking moment not just for Dom, but for the entire Australian electronic scene.”

This monumental tour follows a remarkable year for Dom, who recently added an ARIA Award for Best Dance/Electronic Release for his infectious track, “Saving Up,” which peaked at No. 25 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs.

The Melbourne star’s success isn’t confined to Australia. His momentum shows no signs of slowing down as he gears up for a packed 2025 schedule, starting with a headlining slot at the Palm Tree Music Festival in Aspen, CO, on Feb. 21, followed by the official afterparty later that night.

The Aussie DJ will then take the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York for two highly anticipated shows on March 7 and 8. These performances sees him join the ranks of John Summit, Black Coffee, and the trio of Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred Again.., who have all transformed the iconic venue into major rave experiences.

Swift continues her record-breaking year at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, while Rosé holds strong at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, with Christmas classics also shaking up the scene. Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is unstoppable, spending its eighth consecutive week at No. 1 on the Albums Chart. It marks 18 weeks in 2024 that Taylor has ruled the ARIA charts across multiple albums, including 1989 (Taylor’s Version), Midnights, and Lover.

That’s right—she’s managed to outdo even herself, beating her 17-week streak from 2023.

Adding to the excitement, Stray Kids storm in at No. 4 with their mixtape Hop. With Aussies Felix and Bang Chan leading the charge, the K-pop superstars prove they’re a force to be reckoned with, following the success of last year’s 5-Star.

Meanwhile, Michael Bublé’s Christmas makes its festive return, climbing back into the top 10 at No. 9, because let’s face it—Christmas isn’t complete without Bublé crooning in the background.

On the Singles Chart, Rosé and Bruno Mars’ smash hit “APT.” is showing no signs of slowing down, claiming its seventh non-consecutive week at No. 1. With just one more week, it could tie Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste” as 2024’s longest-running No. 1 single. And speaking of holiday magic, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” rockets from No. 8 to No. 3. The Queen of Christmas does it again, with her timeless anthem on track for another festive chart takeover.

Holiday cheer continues to sprinkle across the charts. Wham!’s “Last Christmas” jingles its way up to No. 7, while Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” cracks the top 10 at No. 10.

Not to be left out, Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” rises to No. 14, and Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” climbs to No. 18, proving that the season of giving is also the season of charting. Lola Young shakes things up with her breakout hit “Messy,” which leaps from No. 18 to No. 6, marking the U.K. singer’s first top 10 in Australia.

Stray Kids Become First Act to Debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart With First Six Chart Entries

As Stray Kids’ new album HOP debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (dated Dec. 28), they become the first act to debut at No. 1 with their first six charting albums. The Billboard 200 began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in March of 1956.

Stray Kids previously debuted atop the chart with ODDINARY and MAXIDENT (both in 2022), ROCK-STAR and 5-STAR (both in 2023) and ATE (earlier in 2024).

Previously, Stray Kids were tied with the late rapper DMX, who saw his first chart entries debut at No. 1 between 1998-2003: It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot (1998), Flesh of My Flesh Blood of My Blood (1999), …And Then There Was X (2000), The Great Depression (2001) and Grand Champ (2003).

Trending on Billboard

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Dec. 28, 2024-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Tuesday, Dec. 24. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram.

Since March 1956, more than 1,200 different albums have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Until the chart began utilizing Luminate’s electronically monitored tracking information in May 1991, only six albums debuted at No. 1. After that, it became the norm that albums would debut atop the list. In 2024, for example, of the 24 albums that have spent time at No. 1, 22 of them debuted at No. 1.

Stray Kids Score Sixth No. 1 on Billboard 200 With ‘HOP’

Stray Kids score their sixth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart as HOP debuts atop the list dated Dec. 28. It’s the sixth leader for the group, making the pop ensemble the first act to debut at No. 1 with its first six chart entries in the nearly 69-year history of the chart. The Billboard 200 began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in March 1956.

Stray Kids previously opened atop the chart with ODDINARY and MAXIDENT (both in 2022), ROCK-STAR and 5-STAR (both in 2023) and ATE (earlier in 2024).

Further, with a sixth No. 1, Stray Kids tie BTS, Linkin Park and Dave Matthews Band for the most No. 1s among groups on the Billboard 200 in this century (since 2000).

HOP arrives with 187,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 19, according to Luminate, largely driven by traditional album sales.

Also in the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200, Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas jingles back to the top 10 for a seventh consecutive holiday season, as the 1994 release climbs 14-10. The set, which contains the Billboard Hot 100-topping “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” peaked at No. 3 in 1994.

For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram.

Of HOP’s 187,000 first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 176,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart), SEA units comprise 10,000 (equaling 14.83 million on-demand official streams of the sets songs) and TEA units comprise 1,000.

HOP’s album sales were bolstered by its availability across seven different CD variants, all containing collectible items such as photocards, posters, stickers and trading cards (including some randomized items), with variants exclusive to Barnes & Noble, Target, Walmart and the act’s official webstore. Of the album’s 176,000 album sales, CD sales comprise 171,000, while digital download albums comprise 5,000.

Previously, Stray Kids were tied with late rapper DMX as the only acts to see their first five chart entries debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. DMX did it in 1998-2003 with It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot (1998), Flesh of My Flesh Blood of My Blood (1999), …And Then There Was X (2000), The Great Depression (2001) and Grand Champ (2003).

As HOP is mostly in the Korean language, it is the 27th mostly non-English-language album to hit No. 1, and the fourth of 2024. Three other mostly-Korean-language sets topped the chart earlier this year, all by also debuting at No. 1: On the Nov. 30-dated list, ATEEZ landed its second leader with Golden Hour: Part.2; on the Aug. 3 chart, Stray Kids’ ATE arrived; and on the March 9 chart, TWICE notched its first leader in With YOU-th. Of the 27 mostly non-English-language albums to reach No. 1, 18 are mostly Korean, five mostly (or all) Spanish, one mostly Italian, one entirely French and two mostly a blend of Spanish, Italian and French. Of the 27 mostly non-English-language albums to reach No. 1, 23 have topped the chart since 2018 (the year that K-pop superstars BTS scored their first of six No. 1s, the chart’s first Korean-language leaders).

The rest of the Billboard 200’s top five comprises former No. 1s: Kendrick Lamar’s GNX is a non-mover at No. 2 (100,000 equivalent album units earned; down 20%), Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department falls 1-3 (85,000; down 65%), Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet steps 5-4 (69,000; down 9%) and Michael Bublé’s Christmas climbs 7-5 (68,000; up 10%).

The most recently released holiday album in the top 10 is Bing Crosby’s Ultimate Christmas compilation, which ascends two spots to a new peak at No. 6 (65,000 equivalent album units; up 15%). The Wicked film soundtrack falls 6-7 (nearly 65,000; down 13%), Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft rises 9-8 (62,000; up 11%) and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess climbs 11-9 (56,000; up 12%).

Closing out the top 10 is Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas, rising 14-10 with 56,000 equivalent album units earned (up 22% with a 10,000 unit gain — the largest unit increase on the chart). The set returns to the top 10 for a seventh consecutive holiday season. It peaked at No. 3 during its initial chart run in 1994, shortly following its release that year.

‘SNL’ Presents ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ — Martin Short & Bowen Yang’s Version

A local community theater director, accurately portrayed by Martin Short, comes in to critique a performance of A Charlie Brown Christmas in SNL‘s Peanuts Christmas sketch that aired Saturday night (Dec. 21).

The SNL ensemble is full of spot-on spoofs of Peanuts characters in the sketch (hats off to the wardrobe and props departments), and they’re bopping away to the classic theme song “Linus and Lucy.”

Drake Tuttle (Short, who hosted Saturday’s holiday episode of SNL) is joined by a self-proclaimed “genius” choreographer named Lestat (Bowen Yang). In full transparency, Tuttle discloses that they’ve been romantically involved. (They “used to date,” he says, “and our relationship is very weird.”)

Trending on Billboard

“Your principal hired me to direct your pageant,” he tells the Peanuts crew, to protests that Charlie Brown is their director.

“And I’m sorry to say he’s dead,” Tuttle announces, pausing for dramatic effect before adding, “to me.”

Tuttle tries to give notes. Lestat tries to incorporate modern hip-hip into the production. Nothing quite goes their way, until they discover their star: Snoopy (Kenan Thompson).

The sketch arrives while the soundtrack for A Charlie Brown Christmas from the Vince Guaraldi Trio, originally released in 1965, currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Kid Albums chart, thanks to the Christmastime popularity of the special.

Watch SNL‘s Peanuts Christmas below. For those watching with kids, be warned there’s some innuendo here, particularly when it comes to the jokes Short and Yang direct toward Schroeder — and unlike the actual animated Peanuts specials, what the grownups say can be heard on SNL‘s special.

For more holiday laughs, check out Saturday night’s Sábado Gigante Christmas Special sketch, and for a musical fix, don’t miss Hozier’s performance.

‘Sábado Gigante’ Returns in ‘SNL’ Christmas Sketch Starring Paul Rudd

Sábado Gigante ended in 2015, but SNL brought the long-running variety show back to TV, at least via short-form comedy, this season.

Cast member Marcello Hernández plays Don Francisco in the Dec. 21 episode’s Sábado Gigante Christmas Special sketch, also starring guest Paul Rudd as a clueless audience member who doesn’t speak Spanish yet finds himself on the Sábado Gigante stage. It’s a reprisal of the role for Hernández, who first appeared as the Chilean TV star in an SNL sketch in October, when Nate Bargatze was the one who had no idea what was happening on Sábado Gigante.

Rudd, playing a man named Greg, is called to the stage as a contestant in Saturday night’s skit.

“Dónde está Greg?” Hernández announces, then waves “mi gringo favorito” over to the spotlight.

Trending on Billboard

“I’m not supposed to be here,” says Rudd, who looks lost. “I missed my flight out of Miami, and instead of a voucher, they gave me a ticket to this show.”

Hernández, in a silly Santa hat, ignores him completely and instructs him to choose a number.

Rudd picks “uno.” This turns out to be an unfortunate choice: “Miami Frosty,” or Frosty the Snowman melting in the sun and crying, “Yo soy agua,” is unveiled, to Rudd’s discomfort. “Oh, Greg. Como se dice, ‘You killed him’?” Hernández asks with feigned horror.

Later in the segment, he realizes he’s being asked a question with a prize of $1 million and needs to give Hernández an answer — rápido. Unfortunately, this question proves to puzzle poor Greg.

Watch SNL‘s Sábado Gigante Christmas Special below. Elsewhere during Saturday’s holiday episode of SNL, which was hosted by Martin Short, Hozier performed his hit “Too Sweet” and a cover of The Pogues’ “Fairytale of New York.”

Hozier Performs ‘Too Sweet’ & ‘Fairytale of New York’ Cover on ‘SNL’: Watch

SNL musical guest Hozier closed the season with his hit “Too Sweet” and a cover of The Pogues‘ “Fairytale of New York” on the Martin Short-hosted episode Saturday night (Dec. 21).

Introduced by Short, Hozier performed “Too Sweet,” his 2024 chart-topper that took off 10 years after his breakthrough single “Take Me to Church,” which he’d played during his SNL debut in 2014.

“Too Sweet” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year, as well as the Pop Airplay and Rock & Alternative Airplay charts. On the Billboard Hot 100 year-end chart, it comes in at No. 10.

Trending on Billboard

Later in the show, the Irish singer-songwriter, his accompanying vocalists and his band performed a spirited take on “Fairytale of New York” — the 1987 song recorded by The Pogues, where the band’s Shane MacGowan traded vocals with Kirsty MacColl for the duet that became a holiday season classic. (MacGowan sadly passed away last year of pneumonia, and MacColl passed in 2000 in a tragic boating accident.)

A small lyric change was made with a wink during Saturday night’s performance, with the ballad’s original slur being replaced with the lyric “You’re cheap and you’re haggard.”

The performance was well-placed in SNL’s holiday episode. Earlier this week in rehearsals, Hozier filmed some festive promos with Short and Keenan Thompson. Short comedically complained about the decor and the script, and in another run bonded with Hozier about holiday celebrations.

“Martin, don’t you just love Christmas?” Thompson asked in the clip. “Well, actually, I prefer to celebrate the ancient Roman holiday Saturnalia, so Christmas is just ‘Wednesday’ for me,” Short replied. “A fellow Saturnite?” Hozier quipped.

‘Sonic The Hedgehog 3’ Is Collecting All The Rings At The Box Office, Everyone Except IGN Loves It

Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Source: Paramount Pictures / SEGA / Sonic The Hedgehog 3

SEGA might have the greatest video game movie franchise ever thanks to the company’s iconic speedy mascot, Sonic The Hedgehog. The third installment in the franchise, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, keeps the same energy as the first two films and, based on the critical reception, is the best one yet.

Like the Sonic The Hedgehog video game franchise, the movies follow the same trajectory, each being a level-up from the next.

While Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s domestic box office opening was slightly under Sonic 2’s $72.1 million, it raced to an impressive $70.5 million.

But where Sonic 3 trumps its predecessor is in its critical reception, currently sitting at 86% on Rotten Tomatoes with a 98% audience score, making it the highest-rated movie out of the three. Hence, everyone, except IGN, who gave the film a 6 (okay) rating, is more than pleased with the latest movie.

Now, we’re not totally bashing everyone’s favorite video game website. The reviewer did love Jim Carrey’s duo performance as Dr. Robotnik and his grandfather Gerald Robotnik, and the excellent use of CGI for the film’s scenes featuring Team Sonic and the bad-ass anti-hero Shadow The Hedgehog.

But for the other critics and fans, those things mentioned above, the perfect casting of Keanu Reeves to bring Shadow to the big screen alongside returning favorites Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Idris Elba (Knuckles), and Colleen O’Shaughnessey (Tails) were the chef’s kiss.

Jeff Fowler Went Out His Way To Please Sonic the Hedgehog Fans

Returning director Jeff Fowler clearly did his homework when making these Sonic films. He went hard on the fan service, which was also a big hit with fans of the video game franchise, as the movie is peppered with references to the video games.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Sonic The Hedgehog’s success at the box office should be studied; who can forget the reaction to the film’s first CGI design for Sonic, which was so bad that social media successfully bullied the director and his team to go back to the drawing board and make changes.

Those changes have paid off big-time, giving Paramount some bragging rights because they can say, without much pushback from anyone, that the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise is the best video game film adaption ever.

You can see more reactions in the gallery below.

1. Definitely not wrong with this take.

3. A job well done Jeff.

4. We agree
