Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album (TEA) units and streaming equivalent album (SEA) units.

Close to 17 years since their last live performance, reunited Los Angeles indie rock outfit Rilo Kiley have announced a run of tour dates for 2025.
News of the band’s reunion was officially confirmed on Jan. 27, close to two weeks after the leaked lineup for California’s Just Like Heaven festival inadvertently shared the news. The group are one of the highest-billed names on the lineup, appearing alongside the likes of Vampire Weekend, TV on the Radio, Bloc Party, and Empire of the Sun.
“We are so very excited to come back together for Just Like Heaven in Pasadena, California—Los Angeles,” the band shared in a statement. “As a band, we began here, and we feel so fortunate to return among so many artists and friends, to this community we hold so dear, in such a beautiful and meaningful place.”

After also joining the lineup to Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party, Rilo Kiley have confirmed details of their first tour since 2008, lifting a lyric from their song “A Better Son/Daughter” to dub it the Sometimes When You’re On, You’re Really Fucking On Tour.

“It’s going to be wonderful for us, like going back to the purest version of yourself, that early 20s place where everything is possible,” explained vocalist Jenny Lewis. “You’re in a van and Jason’s got the map, Pierre is behind the wheel, and I’m on the shitty acoustic guitar on the bench seat working out a new song with Blake. I don’t think it’s ever been as good as that, when it was just us against the world.”
The ten-date tour also features an appearance at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre with Julien Baker and Torres.
Rilo Kiley first formed in 1998 with actress and musician Lewis joined by guitarist Blake Sennett, bassist Pierre de Reeder, and drummer Dave Rock. Jason Boesel would replace rock in 2001.
The group rose to fame throughout the ’00s, releasing a total of four albums, including their 2001 debut Take Offs and Landings and its 2002 follow-up The Execution of All Things. While 2004’s More Adventurous would give them their debut on the Billboard 200 (albeit at No. 161), 2007 album Under the Blacklight was their most commercially successful, reaching No. 22 on the charts.
The group would play their final show in June 2008, later announcing they had embarked upon a hiatus. In 2013, however, it was confirmed they had in fact disbanded. During their hiatus, Lewis focused on her solo career, releasing a total of four albums since 2008, and reuniting with The Postal Service for shows in 2013 and 2023.
Alongside their upcoming tour dates, Rilo Kiley will also be reissuing their second album, with The Execution of All Things (Frozen Lake Edition) being released via Saddle Creek Records on April 25.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been hit with a pair of new sexual assault lawsuits that allege he drugged and sexually assaulted the plaintiffs and/or forced them to engage in sex acts with others during a “group-sex” party at Trump Hotel in midtown Manhattan.
Filed in New York state court on Tuesday (Feb. 4), the lawsuits — the latest to be lodged by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee against the disgraced hip-hop mogul — were filed by Jane Doe plaintiffs who say they were involved in the New York hip-hop scene in the ’80s and ’90s.
The first complaint was filed by a woman who says she was “an active member of New York’s hip-hop industry from the 1980s onward” and “appeared in numerous music videos for varying hip hop artists, was employed as a hip hop dancer for live productions, as well as having roles in major motion pictures.” According to the complaint, she was subject to “sexual assault, coercion, abuse and violence either at the hands of, or direction of Combs” on numerous occasions.
In the first alleged incident, the woman claims she was drugged and “forced to participate in group sexual activity” with Combs and others while attending (and being prevented from leaving) a so-called “shadow party” held at a New York bar sometime in the 1990s.
Later in the decade, while allegedly dating Combs’ security guard, the woman says she attended another of Combs’ parties at the five-story New York nightclub Limelight, where she says “group-sex parties” were occurring on the top two floors. After the party, she claims Combs and the security guard took her and a friend to a penthouse at a Trump hotel in midtown Manhattan, where she says she was “physically and sexually assaulted” by the guard as Combs watched. Later that evening, she claims she and her friend were forced to take “ecstasy or [a] similar ‘party’ drug” and “engage in a group sex activity that [they] did not want to participate in.”
This alleged incident is echoed in the second lawsuit filed on Tuesday by a woman who claims she was “a part of the hip-hop scene that was developing in New York City” in the ’80s and ’90s and “appeared in numerous music videos for various hip-hop artists and participated in other projects within the industry.”
After attending a party also allegedly held at the Limelight — which reads like the same event described by the first plaintiff — the woman claims she and a friend were taken to the Trump Hotel in midtown Manhattan against their will, drugged “and forced to participate in group-sex activity during which she [was] sexually assaulted over the next several hours. For instance, Plaintiff was vaginally raped by a club promoter at Combs’ direction, while Combs observed.”
The woman also outlines a second incident she says occurred after she was hired to serve as a “bottle-service attendant” at a party Combs hosted in the Hamptons in 1997. Shortly after arriving at the event, the woman says she and others hired for the event were encouraged by Combs to drink from coolers and offered marijuana, after which she “began to feel woozy, slipping in and out of consciousness.” At this point, she says she was “sexually assaulted and vaginally raped by Combs’ associates, at Combs’ direction, while Combs was present.” After suspecting the assault was videotaped, she says she reached out to Combs “to request that he delete the video, but Combs refused to comply.”
The woman further alleges she “suffered several incidences of sexual assault at Combs’ hands while traveling to other states, including California,” though only the New York incidents are included in the complaint.
Both women are asking for compensatory and punitive damages from Combs and his various Combs Global businesses, which are named as co-defendants for “enabl[ing]” the alleged abuse.
A representative for Combs and Combs Global did not immediately respond to Billboard‘s request for comment.
Combs is currently awaiting the start of his criminal trial, which is set to commence on May 5, at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He is charged with running a criminal enterprise aimed at satisfying his need for “sexual gratification.” Among other accusations, Combs is alleged to have held so-called “freak offs” during which he and others drugged victims and coerced them into having sex. He is also accused of acts of violence and intimidation to silence his alleged victims. Combs faces a potential life prison sentence if convicted on all charges.

One thing about the internet, it always keeps the receipts. The star of Emilia Perez is refusing to withdraw her Oscar nomination after a slew of her racist tweets have resurfaced.
As spotted on HuffPost, a thespian is taking some heavy heat for her choice of words and very damming takes on religion, police brutality and even the Oscar Awards itself. Karla Sofía Gascón, the lead actress in Emilia Perez is nominated for Actress in a Leading Role for her work as Emilia Pérez / Juan “Manitas” Del Monte, a drug cartel kingpin who wants to change her identity to a woman through surgery. While the film has been generally panned by the country of Mexico, the Netflix project quickly gained big praise from critics.
In late January a slew of her old posts on Twitter, now known as X, resurfaced. One stated that Islam isn’t “INCOMPATIBLE with Western values.” In another tweet she flat out called George Floyd “a drug addict and a scammer.” She also was critical of the 2021 Oscars saying, “More and more the #Oscars are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films,” Gascón wrote. “I didn’t know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration or the 8M. Apart from that, an ugly, ugly gala.”
As expected, she is now facing extreme backlash and many are asking she withdraw her nomination from Actress in a Leading Role category. In an interview with CNN, she essentially brushed everything off. “I cannot step down from an Oscar nomination because I have not committed any crime nor have I harmed anyone. I am neither racist nor anything that all these people have tried to make others believe I am,” she said.
She has also gone on to apologize in a formal apology via Netflix. “As someone in a marginalized community, I know this suffering all too well and I am deeply sorry to those I have caused pain. All my life I have fought for a better world,” she added. “I believe light will always triumph over darkness.”
The 2025 Oscar Awards will air live on Sunday, March 2.

Another day, another lawsuit has been filed against Diddy accusing him of sexual assault, this time from a male singer and comic.
According to reports, another accuser has come forth with a lawsuit against Diddy, alleging that he was assaulted by the Bad Boy Records founder back in 2015. The alleged victim, referred to as John Doe in the filing, filed the suit in New York County Supreme Court with his defense attorney, Tony Buzbee, Monday (Feb. 3). “The conduct described herein is shockingly typical of how defendant Sean Combs conducted himself for many years,” the lawsuit states. “Sean Combs believed he was above the law. He is not.”
In the filing, the victim alleged that he first met Diddy aka Sean Combs at an event he performed at in Los Angeles, California, when he was 23 years old. One of Diddy’s associates told him that if he did well, Diddy would consider signing him to Bad Boy Records. After performing, he was invited to the VIP area where the mogul and his entourage containing some known artists were partying and indulging in drugs. He then claimed someone handed him a drink sent over by Diddy, and that he began to feel lightheaded and passed out after a sip. Before losing consciousness, he saw Diddy and other members of the group engaging in sexual acts.
John Doe would then go on to claim that he woke up to Diddy grabbing his genitals and felt that he was attempting to perform oral sex on him. He then claims that Diddy threatened to ruin his career as he tried to fight him off, escaping only when Diddy demanded that he have sex with a woman in front of everyone. The accuser would feign that he had to go to the bathroom, which allowed him to flee. He is suing for damages.
“Mr. Combs cannot respond to every new publicity stunt, even in response to claims that are facially ridiculous or demonstrably false,” a statement from Diddy’s legal team read after the latest lawsuit was filed. “Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone — man or woman, adult or minor.”
Diddy is currently incarcerated in a Brooklyn detention center, awaiting his trial on May 5.

Fresh off a Grammy sweep for “Not Like Us,” which won all five of its nominations, Kendrick Lamar piles on another win as his single “TV Off,” featuring Lefty Gunplay, darts to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart dated Feb. 8. The track jumps from No. 3 to crown the list after a 12% surge in plays that made it the most-played tune on U.S. panel-contributing monitored rhythmic radio stations in the tracking week of Jan. 24 – 30, according to Luminate.
“TV Off” detaches Tyler, The Creator’s “Sticky,” featuring GloRilla, Sexyy Red and Lil Wayne, from the Rhythmic Airplay summit after the latter’s one week in charge. Last week’s champ drops to No. 2 after a 2% decline in plays for the week.

With “TV Off,” Kendrick Lamar achieves his eighth Rhythmic Airplay No. 1 and second of 2025, after “Squabble Up” ruled for two weeks in January. Here’s the updated review of his chart-topping collection on the radio ranking:
“Humble.,” three weeks at No. 1, beginning June 6, 2017“Loyalty.,” featuring Rihanna one, Sept. 30, 2017“Love.,” featuring Zacari, one, Dec. 30, 2017“Pray for Me,” with The Weeknd, two, April 18, 2018“Like That,” with Future and Metro Boomin, four, May 18, 2024“Not Like Us,” 12, June 15, 2024“Squabble Up,” two, Jan. 18, 2025“TV Off,” featuring Lefty Gunplay, one, Feb. 8, 2025
Featured artist Lefty Gunplay earns his first Rhythmic Airplay No. 1 through his maiden entry on the chart. The rapper is one of several California-bred rappers with supporting spots on GNX, Lamar’s 2024 album that includes “TV Off” and “Squabble Up.”

Beyond the No. 1 title, Kendrick Lamar claims plenty more prime real estate on Rhythmic Airplay. The previous champ “Squabble Up” slides 2-3, while “Luther,” a collaboration with SZA, leaps 9-4 with a 12% improvement in plays. With the trio, Lamar is the first act — in a lead role — to have three of the top five concurrently on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. In total, five acts, including Lamar this week, have had three of the top five at the same time, but the other four – Ashanti, 50 Cent, T-Pain and Drake – all needed a combination of songs in both lead and featured billings.
Moreover, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Lamar enjoys a fourth appearance in the week’s top 10 – for a second week in a row – with a different collaboration with SZA, “30 for 30,” which repeats at its No. 10 peak. A week ago, he became the fifth act to have four of the top 10 titles concurrently, and the first ever with four of the top 10 in a lead role. The only other acts to claim four of the top 10 at the same time are 50 Cent, T-Pain, Lil Wayne and Drake.
While “TV Off,” “Squabble Up” and “Luther” all appear on Lamar’s GNX, “30 for 30” is from SZA’s SOS Deluxe: LANA edition of her chart-topping album.
Elsewhere, “TV Off” holds at its No. 10 best on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart (up 3% in weekly plays) and slides 2-3 from its peak on Rap Airplay, though it added 7% in weekly audience listenership. On the all-genre Radio Songs chart, “TV Off” lands a third nonconsecutive week at its No. 30 high, with an 8% boost to 21 million audience impressions across all formats.
