On the red carpet of the CMA Awards 2025, we caught up with Brett Young, Cooper Alan and many more to debate when they put up their Christmas decorations and whether there is such a thing as “too early.”

Rania Aniftos: This is very controversial, so answer carefully: Do you decorate for Christmas before or after Thanksgiving?

Brett Young: It’s very controversial.

Jordan Davis: I would decorate in July if I could.

Alexandra Kay: Same!

Jordan Davis: I love Christmas. Our house is … My wife is a little more, like, “Give Thanksgiving the respect it deserves.” But if it were up to me, the tree would go up on Nov. 1.

Brett Young: I feel like what used to be acceptable, putting up decorations the day after Thanksgiving, has now become acceptable after Halloween.

Tyler Rich: Yeah, exactly. I decorate for Halloween in August, and I decorate for Christmas right after Halloween. 

Brett Young: I brought the trees down already.  We’re probably going to make the girls wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate. So [the trees are] sitting there semi-naked with just lights on them right now.

I like the feel of a tree in the house. As long as the ghosts and witches are down, I feel like it’s acceptable to put up a tree.

Alexandra Kay: Just don’t mix them.

Brett Young: Yeah. No, no, no. That would be a little unique. 

Tyler Rich: But I think some lights and holiday vibes before Thanksgiving are fine. Santa comes after Thanksgiving.
