Ricky Martin Raised His Cup of Life For Liam Gallagher’s Joke About Opening Act on Oasis’ South American Reunion Dates

With just 64 days left until Oasis kick off their eagerly anticipated 2025 reunion tour, we still know next to nothing about who will take the stage with the Gallagher brothers or what songs they plan to roll out on their first outing in 16 years.
What we do know is that, as usual, singer Liam Gallagher has jokes. The vocalist whose acerbic, quick-witted persona on X has become one of his calling cards was at it again a few weeks ago when asked which act will open up his and brother Noel Gallagher’s shows in South America in November.
At the time, after a fan asked “rasta could you guys give us a hint about who will be the opening acts for Oasis shows in South America?,” Liam responded (we assume) in jest: “Ricky Martin.” Then, on Wednesday (April 30), Martin himself responded with an enthusiastic pair of emoji seemingly indicating that he’d totally be down for the gig. The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” star answered with hang loose and hands in the air emoji to the unofficial offer.

As of now, we know that Cast and former Verve singer and solo star Richard Ashcroft are on tap to open the first run of U.K. shows slated to kick off the outing on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales. When the tour hits North America on August 24 in Toronto, Cage the Elephant will do the honors and Ball Park Music are on tap for a five-show stop in Australia. To date no opening acts have been announced for the group’s shows in South Korea or Japan in October or their November run of shows in Argentina, Chile and Brazil in November.
Earlier this week, the Gallaghers caused a stir when they were pictured arriving at the Mildmay club in North London, where they were reportedly filming a promo video for the tour. The group has not yet announced who will fill out the band for the shows, but clearly Liam is getting chuffed to get back on the road, telling fans in a tweet on Thursday morning, “I’ve a told you lately that I adore all of you and can’t wait to see you now that’s LOVE.”
