Alex Warren Holds Off Ed Sheeran to Retain No. 1 Spot on U.K. Singles Chart for a 4th Week

Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” has earned its fourth consecutive week at No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart, staving off competition from Ed Sheeran’s comeback track “Azizam” (April 11).

Sheeran ends the week at No. 3, but looks set to be a fierce competitor to Warren’s crown over the next seven days. The “Bad Habits” singer has achieved 14 U.K. No. 1 singles over the course of his career, the third-most ever behind Sir Cliff Richard and Westlife.

Warren, formerly a star of YouTube influencer group Hype House, is now tied with Lola Young’s “Messy” for 2025’s longest-running stay at the summit of the Singles Chart. Earlier this week “Ordinary” also hit a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 14, up five places week-on-week.

Speaking to Billboard in January, Warren discussed using challenging moments in his personal life, including the passing of both of his parents and his stint of homelessness, in his material. “I recently started doing this thing where I write about those [experiences], and I try to take control in a way,” he said. “For me, something really beautiful is taking something so sad and dark, and what most would view as something that ruined their life, and turn it into something that can help people.”

Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” holds steady at No. 2 having notched up two weeks at No. 1 back in March. Doechii’s “Anxiety” slips one place to No. 4 and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” closes at No. 5.

South African-German MC WizTheMc and British-German production collective Bees & Honey score their first top 10 hit with “Show Me Love” (No. 8), and British rockers Sleep Token’s “Caramel” ends the week at No. 10, their highest position ever.
