Lizzo Announces Intimate Fan Shows, Gives Michael Jackson Vibes in Dance-Heavy, Zombie-Fied ‘Love in Real Life’ Video

Lizzo‘s fun night out turns into a nightmare (and then gets fun again) in the high-energy video for her comeback single “Love in Real Life.” Two years after her last solo single, the singer was back in our ears and our eyes on Friday (Feb. 28) with the release of the rollicking, uptempo pop rock tune on which she sings, “Give me something with a little tempo/ Hey, ho, hey, ho/ Give me something I can throw it back for/ By the end of the world, by the end of the night.”

She puts those words into action in the Colin Tilley-directed video for the song, which opens with Lizzo sitting at a mirror getting her makeup ready as she prepares to hit the dancefloor in a pink bustier and matching feather boa. Smash cut to the limo, where she and her friend bump down the road in a vintage Cadillac and then hop into the club for a massive dance-off.

With her outfit switched up to a leather bustier and hot pants combo, Lizzo enjoys being the center off attention until her high starts to turn and the once-friendly dancers get aggressive, things get a bit blurry and the faces around her get zombie-fied. Escaping the madness, Lizzo channels classic Michael Jackson video vibes as she sprints away from the terror, only to have the track drop out as the zombie hordes slow step in unison toward her on the cobblestone streets for one last shoulder-shaking group throw down.

“Love in Real Life” is the first taste of the singer’s upcoming fifth album, which is due out this summer. “Love in Real Life” is also Lizzo’s first solo single since her “Pink” contribution to the 2023 Barbie soundtrack.

To celebrate the song’s release, Lizzo will play three intimate shows next month, at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theater on March 12, New York’s Irving Plaza on March 16 and Minneapolis’ First Ave. on March 18; click here for information on pre-sale sign-ups for the shows.
