Ye — formerly known as Kanye West — has been dropped by his talent agency 33 & West after the Vultures rapper went on another anti-semitic rant on X.
Ye had been with the independent talent agency for about a year before his agent Daniel McCartney took to Instagram Stories on Monday (Feb. 10) to write, “Effective immediately, I’m no longer representing YE (F/K/A Kanye West) due to his harmful and hateful remarks that myself nor 33 & West can stand for,” signing off with “peace and love to all.”
Billboard reached out to representatives at 33 & West but was told the agency is not commenting on the matter. A representative for Ye did not immediately return a request for comment.
Ye, 47, drew criticism last week after going on a racially charged rant directed toward Jews and African-Americans. The rapper heaped praise on Hitler during the X tirade and called for Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently in federal custody on sex crime charges, to be freed. And on Tuesday (Feb. 11), his Yeezy website was taken down by Shopify after the company said he had violated its terms of service by listing a swastika t-shirt for sale. Ye had earlier directed people to the e-commerce site via a Super Bowl ad he paid for at a trio of Fox stations.
West’s X account appears to be deactivated, reading “This account doesn’t exist.” On Sunday (Feb. 9), West announced on X, “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. Till we connect again. Good afternoon.”
This certainly isn’t the first time West has been dropped by a talent agency. In October 2022, the rapper was dropped by CAA after going on a lengthy anti-semitic rant. In February 2024, Billboard reported that West was working with booking agent Cara Lewis, who had representedWest earlier in his career and architected his touring strategy in the 2000s and 2010s. Lewis helped West and Ty Dolla $ign land a headlining slot at Rolling Loud in Los Angeles, but the reunion didn’t last long, as West and Lewis split in March 2024.
