Gracie Abrams Says No Man Has Even ‘Come Close’ to Matching Taylor Swift’s Impact on Pop Culture

Gracie Abrams knows that if Taylor Swift were a man, she’d be the man.
In a new interview with Cosmopolitan published Wednesday (Feb. 5), the 25-year-old pop star called her friend an “athlete, a brilliant businessperson and a genius writer” before emphasizing Swift’s massive impact on the world. “There’s also nothing that comes close to what she has done,” Abrams told the publication. “People will still gaslight her and her capabilities and all this s–t.”
“But please point me to one man who has come close to defining pop culture in this way,” the “That’s So True” singer continued. “There is nothing! But people are not ready for that conversation.”
Abrams and the 14-time Grammy winner became close during their time together on the Eras Tour, for which the former served as an opener in the spring and summer of 2023 and again in the fall of 2024. In June last year, the duo dropped a duet titled “Us” as part of Abrams’ The Secret of Us album, reaching No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning a best pop duo/group performance Grammy nomination at the 2025 awards. (Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars ended up taking it home for “Die With a Smile.”)

On her friendship with Swift, Abrams told the magazine that she “couldn’t be more different from Taylor.” The California native — who is rumored to be dating Paul Mescal — also revealed that the “Fortnight” singer helped her through a breakup in 2024.
“After talking to Taylor, I felt very backed by my decision,” Abrams shared. “I felt deep support. Talking to her helped me maintain my stance in the breakup. And, of course, her songs help me through any breakup.”
