Solange appreciated Alicia Keys for mentioning her in her speech while Keys accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2025 Grammys Sunday evening (Feb. 2).
“I just want to give big love to my brother Dr. Dre who created a sound that began a movement, and your sound told me that if you’re a creative growing up in Compton or Hell’s Kitchen, you can touch the world. I always had to fight for a certain level of respect as a songwriter, a composer and especially a producer. It’s strange that we don’t think of women as producers like Quincy or Dre or Swizzy, but female producers have always powered the industry,” Keys said while shouting out Patrice Rushen, Missy Elliott, Linda Perry, Grimes and Solange, to which the latter’s sister Beyoncé clapped.
“Omggg this made me smile so bigggg being mentioned in this lineup,” Solange wrote on X Monday (Feb. 3). “Let me go make some beats lol.”

While Solange seems to be headed back to the studio, she’s also headed to the big screen. The “Cranes in the Sky” hitmaker directed and is starring in Shakersss.mov, a short VHS film where she “offers a diaristic, devotional, inward gaze, presenting the film as a moving liturgy of praise expressed through reverence for self, God, and the exalted mother Yemaya, emphasizing our profound connection to water and its vital role in existence,” according to the film’s website. Shakersss.mov will be showcased at MOCA Los Angeles from Feb. 16 to May 4 as part of American Gurl: home—land, an exhibition curated by Kilo Kish and Zehra Ahmed, featured within the Womxn in Windows residency in the museum’s culture:LAB space.
