RM Tries to Figure Out Who He Is in New ‘Right People, Wrong Place’ Documentary Trailer

Written by on November 5, 2024

When you’re just one member of a genre-defining pop band such as BTS, how do you make room for just yourself? That’s the question RM finds himself pondering in the newest trailer for his forthcoming documentary RM: Right People, Wrong Place released on Tuesday (Nov. 5).

The new clip follows RM as he performs in studio sessions, takes to massive global stages and kicks back for some well-earned downtime with his friends, all as he wonders where he fits in within the industry he and his bandmates helped shape. “What does it mean to be a K-pop star at 30 years old?” he asks aloud at one point.

Reminiscing about his time with BTS, RM explains that the group thrived because what they were doing was so unprecedented, saying that “not being defined as anything also means you can become anything.” Now, he points out, he’s trying to apply that same standard to himself. “I always pushed my limits,” he explains over footage of himself in the studio. “I’d try to see to what extent I could be truly honest with myself as RM, or as Kim Namjoon.”

According to a press release shared with the trailer, the film will focus on the eight months in which RM wrote and recorded his sophomore solo album, Right People, Wrong Place, while also “reflecting both the continuous challenges of the person he is off the stage (Kim Namjoon) and his genuine commitment to and love for his art.”

RM: Right People, Wrong Place is set to be released globally in theaters on Dec. 5 via CJ 4DPLEX. Tickets will go on sale starting Wednesday (Nov. 6), with a secondary global sale set to open on Nov. 20. Watch the full trailer above, and check out the official poster below:
