Childish Gambino fans will have to wait to see his final lap as a rapper. He has canceled his tour due to needing surgery.

As spotted on Vulture the Edwards, Calif., native will have to go under the knife to repair a nagging injury. On Friday, Oct. 4, he shared an update regarding his health on X, formerly Twitter. “After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,” he wrote. “After being assessed, it became clear i would not perform that night, and after more tests, i could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked. As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal.”

The man born Donald Glover went on to reveal that the remaining dates for the Childish Gambino tour will be canceled in order to give his body the proper care. “My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates,” the rest of the post read. “Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support.”

The tour coincided with the release of his final album Bando Stone & The New World; a concept project that would serve as the soundtrack to an upcoming movie of the same name. Back in 2017, he announced his plans to the retire from music marking this effort as his last entry in his discography. During an interview with the New York Times, he discussed why he decided to hang up his Rap persona. “It really was just like, ‘Oh, it’s done.’ It’s not fulfilling,” he admitted. “And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore.”
