“God Bless the U.S.A.” singer Lee Greenwood and “Buy Me a Boat” singer Chris Janson are among those taking part at the Republican National Convention, which runs through Thursday (July 18) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Other speakers named as part of the convention include lawmakers, governors and officials, as well as rapper Amber Rose and media personalities Tucker Carlson and Savannah Chrisley.

Greenwood is known for his 1984 hit “God Bless the U.S.A.,” which reached No. 7 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Greenwood has earned seven No. 1 chart-toppers on Hot Country Songs, including 1987’s “Mornin’ Ride.” Meanwhile, Janson has earned two chart-toppers on the Country Airplay chart, with 2019’s “Done” and “Good Vibes.” Janson’s 2015 breakthrough song “Buy Me a Boat” has been certified 4x multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The Republican National Convention comes just days after an apparent assassination attempt against former U.S. President Donald J. Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday (July 13). Trump’s right ear was wounded during the shooting. One spectator was killed during the shooting, while others were injured, according to the New York Times. Secret service agents killed the gunman, later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

On Sunday (July 14), Greenwood posted a photo of himself with Trump on Instagram, saying, “Please pray for him! God bless the USA.”

Trump is expected to make an appearance during this week’s Republican National Convention. On Monday (July 15), he also named Hillbilly Elegy author-turned-politician J.D. Vance as his vice presidential pick, according to CNN.
