Paying homage to her Big Apple roots, Ice Spice also revealed the NYC-themed cover art for the project, which finds her rocking revealing jean shorts along with green boots, her hands on a concrete wall as she stands outside a subway station next to a fire hydrant. Y2K is spray painted in hot pink on a trash can.
Ice Spice has released a pair of album singles heading into Y2K this year. She kicked off 2024 with “Think U the Shit (Fart)” and the more recent Sean Paul-sampling “Gimmie a Light.”
The “Munch” rapper announced in March that she finished recording for Y2K and told Billboard around the same time that she put her all into the LP. “I think this is some of my best work,” she said while teasing that “it’s not going to be too long — it’s going to be sweet and to the point.”
Ice Spice was honored with the Hitmaker award at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event after notching four top 10 hits on the Hot 100 in ’23. At the ceremony, she explained that fans will be getting some “bops” on her debut. “You can expect a lot of bops. I really pushed myself on this album,” she shared. “The sounds is different. It’s similar, but different.”
Ice Spice’s first EP, Like..?, was released in January 2023. The project (which got a deluxe release in July) peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200.
