Anitta Takes Over National Language Museum in São Paulo With ‘Do You Speak Anitta?’ Expo

Do you speak Anitta? It may sound like a rhetorical question given the Brazilian star’s universal hits, but it’s actually the name of a temporary Spotify activation at the Museu da Língua Portuguesa (National Museum of Language) in São Paulo. Open until June 2, visitors will get to “dive deep” into the world of the singer and “explore the linguistic diversity present in her funk beats,” according to a press release.
“Language is a dance. A journey,” the trilingual — Portuguese, Spanish and English — star said in a statement. “It can take us to unimaginable places and is taking Brazilian funk far and wide. My new album is a celebration of Brazilian funk, and I want everyone to get into this beat. I hope Funk Generation reaches every corner of the world to spread the word about our funk.”
Created by Soko, the core of the campaign is to reflect Anitta’s diverse origins and global appeal. “Anitta’s music is more than just entertainment — it’s a cultural phenomenon that transcends borders. With this campaign, we celebrate the richness of the Portuguese language and funk as its own language, a vibrant urban dialect that connects with the reality of the public,” added Diego Limberti, chief designer officer at Soko.

Anitta most recently unleashed her new album, Funk Generation, which puts the Brazilian funk that has influenced the singer-songwriter’s career center stage. Marking her sixth studio LP, the set follows 2022’s Versions of Me and is home to the previously released singles “Funk Rave” and “Joga Pra Lua.” Anitta is currently on her first-ever U.S. tour, produced by Live Nation.
“We are excited with the activation of Spotify at the Museu da Língua Portuguesa, part of the Do You Speak Anitta? campaign,” said Manuela Ramalho, head of marketing at Spotify in Brazil. “Language and its forms of expression are fundamental elements in the construction of culture, and artists like Anitta play a significant role in this process, bringing new rhythms and slang, influencing the way young people express themselves and interact.”
