When it came time for his performance at Thursday night’s (May 15) 2024 ACM Awards, Thomas Rhett found himself on the lookout for someone as “Beautiful as You.”
Starting out among the audience in Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, Rhett waltzed through the crowd of fellow attendees while singing the first verse of his latest single, stopping to take the occasional selfie and wave at his friends and colleagues.
Once he hit the stage, though, Rhett made sure to put the focus entirely on his pop-tinged country track. Dressed in a tan suede jacket and a pair of simple blue jeans, Rhett hit each note of the romantic anthem singing all about the object of his affection, his wife Lauren. “What’s someone as beautiful as you/ Doin’ ridin’ ’round with someone like me?” he sang. “I swear, girl, you could have anyonе you choose/ I should stop askin’ questions ‘fore you gеt up and leave.”
The ceremony hosted by country superstar Reba McEntire and produced by Dick Clark Productions saw some of the biggest stars in the genre up for trophies. “Fast Car” singer Luke Combs led the evening’s nominees with a whopping eight nods, while Megan Maroney and Morgan Wallen followed close behind with six nominations a piece.

The performance amid a banner year for Rhett, who earned his 20th No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart in March thanks to his song “Mawmaw’s House” with Morgan Wallen. “To have 20 [No. 1s] on the Billboard chart is really mind-blowing,” Rhett told Billboard at the time. “It means that fans are connecting with the music we make, and that is a feeling that never goes old. It means the world to me.”
