Pedro Capo & Carin Leon Drop ‘Existo’ — A Song They Created at Billboard Latin Music Week

Pedro Capó and Carin León have dropped their first collaborative effort called “Existo” — the song they created in only 30 minutes at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Week, and which Billboard can exclusively premiere Friday (March 15). 

A captivating track that starts off with country-tinged guitar riffs and transitions into a midtempo cumbia, “Existo” resembles the resilience and empowerment of human beings in the midst of adversity. The lyrics are based on the real experiences of both singers: “How can I not be successful if I exist?” they passionately chant. 

“This project goes beyond music; it’s a testament to the strength we all have within us,” Capó expressed in a press statement. “‘Existo’ is a reminder that our existence is powerful, even in the most challenging moments and I think the best proof is the way this song came about.”

The sepia-colored music video features the Puerto Rican and Mexican acts performing the song in a recording studio, joined by a group of talented musicians. 

“Existo” was first created five months ago during the “Making the Hit, Live!” panel at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Week on Oct. 3, where in front of an audience, Capó and León brainstormed its melody and lyrics.

“How do you compose a hit? With God’s blessing,” Capó said during the session. “A lot of people relate it to success. For us, it means something different. I feel that the definition of success is very personal and very individual. One has to connect with issues of the heart to get it off your chest,” León added. 

“Existo” is the second song that has come to life after it was made at Billboard Latin Music Week. Last summer, Ovy on the Drums and Blessd delivered their edgy reggaeton appropriately titled “Billboard,” which they created from scratch at the 2022 “Making the Hit, Live!” panel.
