Charli XCX Teases Upcoming Sixth Studio Album, ‘Brat’
Written by djfrosty on February 28, 2024
Charli XCX is prepping her next musical era. The singer and pop hit songwriter announced on Instagram on Wednesday morning (Feb. 28) that her sixth full-length studio album, Brat, is coming this summer.
“Brat — this summer. 15 songs. 41:23 minutes long. on repeat,” the “In the City” star wrote of the follow-up to her 2022 album Crash. At press time there was no additional information available about the album, though Charli did tease what appears to be the first single on Tuesday, entitled “Von Dutch.”
In a brief clip from what looked like the video for the song, Charli does a runway-worthy strut past a scrum of shouting paparazzi in an airport. She scoots by a giant billboard touting her name in bold letters accompanied by a fashion campaign-like image of the singer reclining topless and clad in just a pair of black tights.

Wearing a long black coat, white shirt and oversized shades, Charli then walks quickly away from the horde or reporters as a beat bubbles up and she sings “it’s okay to admit that you’re jealous of me” as she tossers her sunglasses to the side; the clip ends with the announcement that the song is due out on leap day (Feb. 29).
Charli made headlines last week when she played to a super-packed house during her latest headlining slot at New York’s Boiler Room party in Bushwick, where she played a high energy DJ set. The performance included the debut of the EasyFun-produced “Von Dutch” during a set that V Magazine said appeared to signal that Brat will “lean in a more raw and confrontational club-pop direction” featuring the “club-pop bops… people have been waiting for.”
