Foo Fighters joined Saturday Night Live for the ninth time, performing a pair of songs from their latest album.
During the Oct. 28 episode, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, the Dave Grohl-fronted band opened with the hard rocking “Rescued,” followed by the emotional track “The Glass,” with help from H.E.R. on vocals and guitar. Both tracks are from Foo Fighters’ 11th album, But Here We Are.
The new album crowned Top Alternative Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums upon its release in June, while the LP’s lead single “Rescued” commands Hot Hard Rock Songs.
Prior to the Foos’ first performance, the group was introduced by legendary actor Christopher Walken. Grohl also lent his comedy skills during the show, appearing in sketches about a pregnant woman on a plane in search of a doctor and a pre-recorded musical sketch about a country trio singing about the lake. In a brief promo clip, the guys also embraced the Halloween spirit by dressing up as the characters from the classic film The Wizard of Oz, with Grohl taking on the role of Dorothy.
Foo Fighters last appeared on SNL in November 2020 during a post-election episode hosted by comedian Dave Chappelle. The band is currently gearing up for their Everything or Nothing at All tour, which is scheduled to visit 10 U.S. stadiums in summer 2024. Openers on select dates include the Pretenders, the Hives, Mammoth WVH, Alex G, Amyl and the Sniffers, and L7.
