Halloween is just five days away, and for those last-minute costume shoppers, Billboard has you covered.
This year, we’ve compiled seven easy and quick costumes to channel your favorite Latin music stars — which you can do yourself at home, with things you either already own or can thrift at an affordable price over the weekend.
The list includes solo costumes, such as Becky G’s sassy and monochromatic fits during her 2023 Coachella set and Mi Casa, Tu Casa tour. There’s also the emblematic Feid costume, which is probably the easiest thing to build: shorts, sneakers, green cap, white sunglasses, mustache, and voila mor!, you’re El Ferxxo. On TikTok, the artist even shared a very detailed video with the steps to follow to dress up as the Colombian singer-songwriter yourself.
If you and a friend or your significant other don’t have un disfráz, don’t stress! The list includes co-ed ideas such as Karol G and Shakira in their empowering “TQG” music video; Maluma and Carin León dressed as two fashionable vaqueros in the “Según Quién” music video; and the “it” couple of the moment, Peso Pluma and Nicki Nicole during their “Por Las Noches” performance at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
How about for you and the squad? We got that too! For the Música Mexicana lover, we suggest calling your friends and dressing up as Bad Bunny and Grupo Frontera in the “un x100to” music video. Despite needing to have your cellphone at one percent charge to really bring the costume to life, this group idea is simple and fun.
And of course, we can’t leave behind the iconic RBD costume, especially for this year where the group made its official comeback after 15 years. For this costume, you can either seek inspiration from their Soy Rebelde Tour or go the best route and dress in their signature Elite Way uniform.
Check out the recommendations for each of these costumes below, and Happy Halloween!
Bad Bunny & Grupo Frontera
The Inspiration: “un x100to”
What You Need: The perfect group costume has arrived in form of a music video. For this costume, all you need is six of your friends, jeans, cowboy boots, black cowboy hats, a mix of denim and leather jackets, and a broken heart. For the Bad Bunny of the group, opt for a light-blue buttoned shirt, bling and a white baseball cap. A plus for everyone? Have your phones with only one percent of battery.
Becky G
The Inspiration: Coachella (or Beckychella)
What You Need: First and foremost, know all the Becky G bangers to perform at the Halloween party. Then, don a sassy monochromatic fit that includes a bedazzled bustier, matching undergarment, baggy pants and a Tejana (cowboy hat). Going by Becky’s Coachella set earlier this year (or her Mi Casa, Tu Casa Tour), you can pick your fit to be either royal blue, hot pink, or lavender purple.
What You Need: A fan-favorite costume for its swag and simplicity is a recognizable Feid outfit, like the one worn during his Billboard cover shoot earlier this year. All you need is cameo pants, green boxers, green sneakers, a white tee, a green cap and his signature white sunglasses. And by all means, don’t forget the mustache, the TikTok dances, or to speak in Colombian slang on Halloween.
Karol G & Shakira
The Inspiration: “TQG”
What You Need: An empowering costume for you and your BFF: Karol G and Shakira in the “TQG” music video. The powerful Colombianas deliver three fiery fits each throughout the clip but one of the simpler ones to mimic is the all-black fit. For this, you need a cut-out top, some gloves, a mini skirt, boots, and if your hair doesn’t already match, blonde and red wigs. If you’re the Karol of the two, don’t forget the heart-shaped sticker on your cheek, and if you’re Shakira, don’t forget that you’re now, “triple M — mas buena, mas dura, mas level” (more hot, more badass, next level).
Maluma & Carin León
The Inspiration: “Según Quién”
What You Need: Can you tell that vaquero and vaquera looks are all the rage? Here’s another great costume idea for you and a friend. “Según Quién” is a fun one that requires a white cowboy hat, light jeans and a denim jacket for Carin, and black pants, black silk shirt (preferably showing off the chest) and a black cowboy hat for Maluma. Must-needed props are two alcoholic drinks of your choice and the hand movements going viral on TikTok.
Peso Pluma & Nicki Nicole
The Inspiration: The 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards
What You Need: Here’s a cute and easy-to-do costume for you and your significant other: Peso Pluma and Nicki Nicole. The new lovebirds, who were being all cute with each other backstage at the Billboard Latin Music Awards this year, made their relationship Instagram-official in an already-deleted story. To celebrate their love, you and your partner can match all in white this year. Don’t forget the signature Peso mullet, Nicki’s quirky personality and to learn the lyrics to their collab “Por Las Noches.”
RBD
The Inspiration: Soy Rebelde Tour
What You Need: RBD is back! So grab your four closest friends and tackle this fun and emblematic costume this year. You and your squad can either seek inspiration from the group’s Soy Rebelde Tour, where they wore sparkly outfits, boots, and fashionable jackets, or, go the timeless Rebelde route, and match in the Elite Way uniforms that includes a navy skirt, red blazer, and striped red tie. This one is great for those friendships that span nearly twenty decades so you can not only sing to the RBD tunes, but also share fun anecdotes at the Halloween party.
