Chxrry22 will release her new EP Siren on Oct. 27 via XO Records/Republic Records, she announced Friday (Oct. 13).
Ahead of Siren, she dropped the single “Never Had This,” featuring Vory, on Friday. “This song was already one of my favorites on the project, and Vory and I had already been talking about working together — this was the one that felt right for both of us,” the Canadian-Ethiopian singer said in a press release. “When people hear it, I want them to feel empowered to want to be valued and expect nothing but the best. This theme bleeds all throughout the project in an attempt to inspire people to exercise their power.”
Siren arrives a year after her seven-song debut EP The Other Side. Since then, she’s released a slew of singles, such as her cover of XO label boss The Weeknd‘s “Sacrifice,” “Worlds Away” and “More.”
Chxrry22 will be a supporting act on the Australia/New Zealand leg of The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which kicks off Nov. 20 at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, with stops in Sydney (Accor Stadium, Nov. 24), Melbourne (Marvel Stadium, Dec. 1) and a final date at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand (Dec. 7).
“If you told me three years ago that my first tour would be in stadiums opening for the biggest artist in the world, I’d say you’re f—ing lying,” says Chxrry22. “Australia is such a special place and I can’t wait to feel their energy and perform for them.”
