Aerosmith Postpones Tour, Steven Tyler’s Vocal Chord Injury ‘More Serious’ Than Expected

Written by on September 29, 2023

Aerosmith is postponing the remainder of their farewell tour, due to frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal chord injury.

“Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the band wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Friday (Sept. 29). “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care. He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

As a result, the band noted that the current dates for the Peace Out tour will be postponed to “sometime in 2024,” with the new dates being announced at some point soon. The statement also notes that previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates, but refunds are also available at the point of purchase.

“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can,” Tyler shared in his own statement. The news comes just a few weeks after Aerosmith postponed six shows as a result of the injury to the rocker’s vocal chords.

Live Nation is producing Aerosmith’s final North American trek. “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives,” read a statement announcing the tour.

“Every night will celebrate the five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band.”

Aerosmith, formed in 1970 by Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
