Officials are alerting those who attended Shakira‘s May 15 concert at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey of possible exposure to measles.
The New Jersey Department of Health announced on Tuesday (May 20) that a person who was infected with the disease attended the show. The statement warned that anyone present at the stadium from 7:30 p.m. on May 15 through 1 a.m. on May 16 may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus.
“The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is alerting residents about potential exposures associated with a newly identified case of measles in a non-NJ resident who attended a concert in NJ while infectious,” the statement posted on the NJDOH’s website reads. “Potentially exposed individuals, if infected, could develop symptoms as late as June 6, 2025. As of the time of this release on May 20, no additional associated cases in New Jersey have been identified.”
Billboard has reached out to Shakira’s team for additional comment.

That show was the first of Shakira’s back-to-back concerts at MetLife — which has a capacity of 50,000 — where Ozuna appeared the special guest. She returned to MetLife for a second show on Friday (May 16) with guests Pitbull, Wyclef Jean and Rauw Alejandro.
After making history in Latin America by breaking box office records in March, Shakira began a North American tour last week that also includes upcoming stops in Chicago, Boston, Miami; Los Angeles and other cities, before concluding in San Francisco on June 30. She will then return to Latin America for shows in Mexico and Peru.
