Cardi B will receive the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Voice of the Culture Award, recognizing her groundbreaking influence on music and culture.
On Wednesday (May 21), ASCAP announced that Cardi would be honored with the award for 2025, which comes after Usher received the award last year.
“Cardi B has left an indelible mark on the culture of hip-hop by redefining and challenging the norms for women,” ASCAP Chairman of the Board and President Paul Williams said in a statement. “Having broken through countless barriers with her unapologetic authenticity and talent, she continues to use her voice to advocate for and inspire others, a true testament to her undeniable impact. We are proud to present Cardi B with this year’s ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award.”
The rapper had previously made history back in 2020 as the first woman to receive the esteemed ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Songwriter of the Year Award two years in a row. She has stacked up multiple ASCAP accolades, including eight ASCAP Pop Music Awards and 23 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.

Cardi will be presented with the award at a private, invitation-only event on Sunday, June 8, in Los Angeles.
The news comes as Cardi continues to tease her highly anticipated sophomore album. She even teased earlier in May that she’s mostly just waiting on her features to send along their verses.
“I really need these f–king features,” she said in a repost of an Instagram Live session. “And it’s like I’m not really trying to press or go crazy on these artists because I love them down. But it’s like come on now! I need that! I need that right now! Helloooo! Y’all don’t want to miss this opportunity. I’ll sing this s–t myself! But I really need y’all and I need y’all to hurry up and I love y’all. I feel like nobody want to miss being on this album.”
