In celebration of their recent collaborative album, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are dropping exclusive album merch on Amazon.
The album, I Said I Love You First, is Gomez’s fourth studio album, and it came out on March 21. It’s a collaboration with her producer fiancé. This is actually their second time working together, as Blanco also worked with Gomez on her second album, Revival. Consisting of 14 songs, the duo released two singles — “Scared of Loving You” and “Call Me When You Break Up” featuring Gracie Abrams — before dropping the full album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales Charts. The accompanying merch does a great job of capturing the mood of the songs, with a range of T-shirts, tanks and sweatshirts that feature Gomez and Blanco at the forefront.
The cover of the album features Gomez and Blanco as seen through a keyhole. Those purchasing the vinyl will find a different photo of the couple on the center label, but if you’re not a vinyl fan, you can find the same picture on a T-shirt. The photos portray a closeness between Blanco and Gomez, which surprisingly isn’t as evident throughout the lyrics of the album itself. That’s right — if you expected this to be a lovesick song collection, consider your expectations smashed.
While there are plenty of moments throughout the album where Gomez displays real vulnerability — both in her lyrics and in voice recordings of her thanking her team — the songs themselves range from heart-wrenching breakup anthems to pop-forward dance numbers. It’s certainly a view of Gomez and Blanco’s relationship through a keyhole. However, fans of both artists will still definitely find real emotion imbued in every note.
