Ashanti flew over to Hawaii for the upcoming episode of American Idol, where she treated fans to a jaw-dropping live performance.
The Grammy-winning superstar joined artist-in-residence Jelly Roll as a mentor for season 24. To celebrate the kick-off of nationwide voting and the top 12 of this season’s competition, Ashanti performed her 2008 hit “The Way That I Love You” as well as 2002’s “Foolish” onstage at Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Ko Olina Hawaii.
Billboard has an exclusive clip of the gorgeous sunset performance, which you can watch below, as well as a preview of her sweet conversation with host Ryan Seacrest about this season’s singers. “[I’ve been impressed by] all of their stories, all of their passion, where they come from — the talent is just through the roof, and they have a purpose. I’m just so happy and so proud of all of them,” Ashanti shared with Seacrest.
She also teased the upcoming arrival of her single “Called You Up” and its music video, which she shot in Bermuda. “It’s amazing and I can’t wait for you guys to see it,” she told the crowd. The R&B superstar is currently on tour with Sean Paul and Fat Joe, as the trio are performing across the United Kingdom and Ireland for the Bring It Tour.
