Watch Carrie Underwood Hop on Stage with Papa Roach in Las Vegas To Jam on ‘Last Resort’

One of the oddest couples in music was back at it over the weekend when Carrie Underwood hopped up on stage with her old pals in Papa Roach during the band’s show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday (April 5) in Las Vegas.
With PR singer Jacoby Shaddix setting up the iconic refrain of “Last Resort,” howling “Cut my life into pieces” a cappella, Underwood joined in on the second part, singing “this is my last resort, as the two bopped in place while the band kicked in and they sang “Suffocation, no breathing/ Don’t give a f–k if I cut my arm bleeding” in unison over the song’s crushing rhythm.
The 25th anniversary celebration of PR’s iconic hit marked the first time they performed live with Underwood after the two acts sparked a friendship and musical kinship last year with a collaboration on a different PR tune.

“Still in disbelief over this one. On Saturday, after my Reflection show, we changed my clothes, dried my hair and headed over to catch the @paparoach show down the street,” Underwood wrote on Instagram on Monday morning (April 7) in a post that included a fiery clip from the moment. “Not only did I get to perform ‘Leave A Light On’ with them, but I got called BACK out to do ‘Last Resort,’ because, why not?! Oh, and they told me that our song went GOLD, which is amazing because it’s raising money for a great cause! These guys are the real deal. 25 years of melting faces and I know they’ve got more work to do! What a great show!”
Last year, Underwood got in the studio with Papa Roach to record a refreshed version of the group’s 2022 song “Leave a Light on (Talk Way the Dark)” to help draw attention to mental health and suicide awareness. “We were humbled that Carrie was open to our mission, and hearing the power of Carrie’s voice in that recording session we were blown away,” Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix said in a statement at the time. “Not only is her vocal ability unequaled, but the impact of her voice brings a new meaning to our cause and will help people all over the globe. It’s an honor to have a ‘Rock Star’ bring life to this track with us.”
“I’m such a huge fan of Jacoby and Papa Roach and was honored to be invited to record ‘Leave a Light On’ with them,” Underwood added. “It’s a beautiful song and the message behind it and the band’s mission to shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness has never been more important.” Both artists earmarked the royalties from the song to aid the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention organization.
