Lizzo is ready for fans to feel some Love in Real Life.
The superstar took to Instagram on Wednesday (March 19) to reveal that her upcoming album, Love in Real Life, is officially complete. “ALBUM IS DONE YALL!” she wrote, alongside a photo of herself in the studio, struggling to smile, which she explained in the second half of the caption: “ASTROLOGY EXPERTS Do my mercury got micro braids? Cus I got an emergency root canal, announced SNL & finished my album all in one day today.”
The astrology comment is play on the term Mercury retrograde, which is an astronomical illusion and phenomenon where the planet Mercury appears to move backward in its orbit from the Earth’s perspective. During the retrograde, astrology enthusiasts believe that communication, technology and travel is disrupted.
The star will make her fourth appearance on Saturday Night Live as musical guest alongside host Jon Hamm for the April 12 show. She made her debut on the show in 2019, and returned twice in 2022.

Lizzo has already released two songs from her upcoming album, “Still Bad” and the title track. Aside from “Pink” for Greta Gerwig’s 2023 Barbie soundtrack, the first singles from the project mark the Yitty founder’s first proper releases since 2022’s Special, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawned two-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “About Damn Time.”
In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s The Heat With Swaggy Sie, she revealed her inspirations for the album. “We can’t even cap in our rap and say that [Michael Jackson] didn’t inspire so much of [the ‘Love in Real Life’] video. Also, Beyoncé. Her visual albums, like, since ‘B’Day’ she’s been doing visual albums and that’s so f—ing cool to me.”
