Deerhoof Announce Tour and New Album, Share New Song Through Craigslist

Written by on March 19, 2025

Now over 30 years into their illustrious career, Deerhoof are back with their 20th studio album. Noble and Godlike in Ruin comes out on Joyful Noise on April 25. In addition to announcing a tour, the experimental rock band also shared a new song, “Immigrant Songs,” two days ago through an unlikely host: Craigslist. The unconventional premiere, which lists the song under “Services” posts advertising Deerhoof for hire in local communities on the website, serves to spotlight a tech platform that “isn’t blatantly supporting fascism.” Head here to hear the song.

“This song is kind of a sequel to Satomi describing her immigration tribulations in ‘Exit Only,’” explained drummer Greg Saunier. “It’s what it feels like to see the discourse around immigration get so twisted. The most criminal and barbaric ‘migrant horde’ to invade America was from Europe. There’s a sector of racialized, underpaid immigrants, doing labor white people won’t, who are getting deported and dehumanized in record numbers in recent years. They are really the glue keeping our society from collapsing. It’s these heroic fugitives, not millionaire politicians holding little signs with one hand while sending out fundraising emails about ‘strengthening our borders’ with the other, who actually have a thing or two to teach us all about how to resist and survive.”

Noble and Godlike in Ruin spans 10 songs, including the recent singles “Overrated Species Anyhow” and “Sparrow Sparrow” that Deerhoof released on a limited-edition benefit 7″ to raise money for the Trevor Project. The band self-produced its follow-up to 2023’s Miracle-Level and tapped Saul Williams to join for “Under Rats.”

This summer, Deerhoof are heading out on tour in support of the new LP. Their North American leg begins on May 1, in Minneapolis, and lasts on through to the end of June. From there, Deerhoof head over to Europe for plenty of shows and festival sets, concluding on August 8 in Faabord, Denmark. Find their complete list of tour dates below.
